I’m not a student of school shootings, except to take note of the shooters, many of whom, from Virginia Tech to Sandy Hook in Connecticut to even Dylan Roof in South Carolina, were mentally ill but able to get a gun anyway, only not so much because of their easy availability as to fatal flaws in the bureaucratic system that were designed to prevent the mentally unstable to get weapons. Bureaucracies do that, which is why there can never be any kind of gun “control”.

A decade has gone by since Virginia Tech and most of the gaps in mental health awareness from that event remain unfilled because the Left’s anti-gun lobby continue to keep their eyes fixed on solving a problem of their ethereal Utopian world of World Order, totally disarming a constitutionally-protected armed populace.

As long as fractures in mental health protections fail, they can continue to keep their eye on the larger prize.

So it will be with the shooting in Broward County, Florida, at Margery Stoneman Douglas High School near Ft Lauderdale. We know where the media and the Left will take this; 1) denying access to guns, and 2) a failure of due diligence by local officials at the school and local police to identify several hundreds of thousands 18-20 year old kids of looking and dressing scary, talking big on social media, making broad statements about shooting and mayhem, but falling short of “legal threats” (as the FBI found with Cruz), and in some way interdict them.

Leftists believe anyone who disagrees with them, much less picks up a gun, is mentally deficient or mentally disturbed. This in turn justifies some sort of physical constraints and invasion of privacy.

I’m not sure how long it will take for public pressure to cause the Parkland school and police to kneel at the foot of political correctness and admit that they should implement new programs to more quickly identify angry young kids, white males at least, so as to give the rest of the community a heads-up every-time that kid walks down the street.

I’m sure that’s what the political Left would like to see happen, which is how they see mass shootings; an opportunity for some small victory[…]

Communists are always pointing their fingers at the right accusing us of the violence that their sock puppets are guilty. Case in point, last week’s shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise by a hard-core radical, James Hodgkinson who also happens to be a Bernie Sanders supporter.

The Occupy Wall Street nightmare that began in 2011 has morphed into violent attacks on Republicans to resist and make America “ungovernable.”

Governor Andrew Cuomo has a plan to solve the problem of street homelessness in New York City; he wants to put them in Creedmoor, a massive institution for the mentally ill in eastern Queens. During its mid-century heyday, Creedmoor housed 7,000 people in dozens of buildings, many of which are now sitting empty. Cuomo’s proposal was seconded by Queens state senator Leroy Comrie, who said that “the homeless individuals [at Creedmoor] would have an excellent chance of being successful with a complement of services” […]

If Leroy Comrie is so sure that Creedmoor is an excellent opportunity for the homeless, I suggest he try it out for a month first without cameras, security and buffer zones to ensure the senator a comfortable and peaceful stay.

Andrew Cuomo is simply recycling another failed Progressive policies of decades ago where the homeless, mentally ill among others were thrown into these institutions drugged, abused, committed abuses, etc.

There are already too many instances in New York City today where a poor person with no family takes ill, possibly undergoing surgery which means which means a lengthy stay and during that individual’s stay, he loses his apartment.

Once that occurs (often), the hospital tells the individual that he cannot be released because said individual does not have a place to live.

$$$$$

I know for a fact that King County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York will not release anyone that cannot provide a forwarding address. Proudly boasting of their men’s ward or housing, male patients become prisoners live-ins adult wards of the state, sometimes for years and often until their death, whichever comes first.

 

Creedmoor Psychiatric Center Queens Village NYC

I suspect that Creedmoor with its past will be much worse.

FEAR AND BRUTALITY IN A CREEDMOOR WARD, NYT, 06/18/1984.

No one remembers exactly when it began. But the fear, the beatings, the brutality in a special ward of the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens did not end until after a mentally ill patient had died while bound in a cloth straitjacket, his throat crushed.

The workers in the so-called secure unit found themselves locked day after day in a hospital ward that came to resemble a penitentiary – but one without bars to separate the staff from men they called inmates.

Nurses and orderlies say they were abandoned by their superiors and forced to make decisions that, under the law, could be made only by doctors. Regulations about medication were ignored, workers say, as were their complaints about dangerous understaffing in a ward that housed the most violent, most severely ill patients at Creedmoor, a huge state facility in Queens Village.

Last month, after several reports of widespread brutality against patients, the secure unit was shut down. The remaining patients have been transferred to other wards while city, state and Federal investigators try to figure out what went wrong there, and why. The investigations began shortly after the death of the 39-year-old patient last March.

Street Violence around Annual West Indian Day Parade

Several hours before the annual West Indian Day parade was scheduled to begin on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, New York Labor Day, the insanity began.

Less than six blocks from the parade route, Carey Gaby, Esq., age 43, Andrew Cuomo’s first deputy general counsel at Empire State Development, was shot in the head by a stray bullet as he and his brother attempted to take cover when as shootout began nearby between rival gangs.

A fight broke out Monday morning shortly before 4 a.m. as Gabay and his brothers left a party and were walking down the street near Ebbetts Field Houses, located in a particular unsavory section of Flatbush known to be extremely dangerous, any hour of the day, any day of the week.

According to police, two sets of people were firing shots at each other, on Empire Blvd. and on Bedford Avenue. Police recovered a semiautomatic weapon and 16 shell casings from the scene, they said.

After the incident, which happened at 3:41 a.m. ET, Mr. Gabay was taken to Kings County Hospital, where police said he was in critical condition and likely to die….

According to Aaron McNaughton, Gabay’s younger brother, “It was just totally random. Some guy walked up and was spraying bullets everywhere. I can’t believe it. He was a good guy, he just didn’t deserve this.’’

The shooter fired 8 to 10 shots into the crowd. Insane.

Gabay whose wife is pregnant is on life support while doctors make arrangements to donate his organs.

Unfortunately, the streets of New York, let alone Brooklyn, let alone this community will have had more than its share of bloodshed by Tuesday morning.

Not far from the shootings, a young man in his 20’s was stabbed. Video clip below (Warning: GRAPHIC).

On Sunday afternoon NYPD announced that it was dispatching 1500 officers to monitor the pre-dawn parties in Brooklyn. Little good that did to anyone victimized, raped, maimed or killed while out reveling.

The NYPD is dispatching an additional 1,500 cops to keep an eye on pre-dawn parties before the West Indian Day Parade.

The J’Ouvert march through Flatbush is an annual tradition that kicks off around 4 a.m. Monday in Brooklyn.

The party is full of dancers, costumes, bands and baby powder — but has also featured outbursts of violence in years past.

A high-ranking police source told the Daily News he’s expecting a long night.

‘We don’t have stop and frisk anymore. So, obviously, all the stuff we had stopped them from doing will start over again. The pop-up parties are them drinking all night. They’ll see you driving around and stop what they’re doing,’ the source said….

J’Ouvert “unofficially” begins around midnight and yes, it is an all night party of dancers, people dressed up in costumes, some in masks, steel bands on trucks and baby powder.

Combine that with alcohol, hot weather (last night was in the mid-70’s and humid), marijuana, the ingestion of other toxic chemicals non-stop for the next 24 hours and you have spontaneous combustion — VIOLENCE. (My perspective on J’Ouvert at bottom of post.)

Rather than deal with the problem that plagues the Black community, Black homicide, Black on Black violence, both Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio staged separate press conferences espousing the usual propaganda calling for gun control in the very community where Blacks are shot and killed by other Blacks every day of the week.

Hubris! B.S.!

At about the same time that Cuomo’s aide was shot, less than a half-mile away, Venita Haskins was grieving the loss of her 42-year-old son, Damon mortally wounded with a gunshot to the chest, the day before (Saturday evening).

Ms. Haskins lost her 32-year-old daughter, Tamecca Haskins one year earlier, July 6, 2014 not far from where Damon was killed.

Both were victims of Black on Black crime, the circumstances of which are eerily similar as both were shot in the chest

‘That’s my two oldest,’ Haskins, the devastated mother of five, told the Daily News on Sunday. ‘I’m very distraught right now … I’m at a loss for words right now….’

Reminiscent of the parades prior to and during the Dinkins era, liquor and marijuana was in abundance and enjoyed out in the open.

As it was during the Dinkins era, if you had respiratory problems, Eastern Parkway (the parade route) is the last place you needed to be on Labor Day.

Parade goers rewarding NYPD for turning a blind eye.

The New York Post is this morning reporting that NYPD turned a blind eye to “blatant law breaking” at the parade. (Considering the attacks on law enforcement nationwide, can’t say I blame them.)

Bratton stated early Monday that there was no need to ban parties ahead of the parade in spite of the bloodshed, which the police commissioner called “unfortunate” but “no reason to not go forward with the events.” (Translation: If they want to kill each other, oh well…)

An older woman covered her nose as several young men shared a joint, dancing and blowing smoke into the air.

‘A lot is happening that isn’t supposed to be happening,’ she said, a look of disgust plain on her face.

One young man was also seen pouring Hennessy cognac into an iced-tea bottle, then doling it out into plastic cups. Three pals who were spotted drinking brown liquid from clear plastic cups as they cavorted along the parade route admitted that their beverage of choice was the same type of booze….

NYPD sources said supervisors have traditionally urged restraint when dealing with parade goers, with one cop saying the brass ‘forbid us from making arrests, no matter what we saw, because they didn’t want riots….’

MY PERSPECTIVE ON J’OUVERT

[No one who attends the yearly parade or the West Indian American Day Carnival Association itself gives a damn about crime unless they’re directly affected. The event is a cash cow with a massive sponsorship, a primary reason for denying that the parade and surrounding festivities provide motive and opportunity for thuggish elements.]

In addition to nearly a month of endless reveling and festivities pre-Labor Day, there is always the sudden uptick of crime and violence Labor Day weekend.

Opportunity strikes as thousands of people from all parts of the world converge upon the community.

More than 2 million people attend the parade annually, preparations of which begin every year for the following year the morning after Labor Day.

On the weekend before the parade, there are pageants, costume balls, and parties throughout the area (city).

The clubs open about 7 pm Sunday evening and the parties start. Many leaving the clubs rather than go home pace the streets near the floats, steel bands and huge speakers are embedded flatbed trucks throughout the largest Caribbean community in the United States.

Sometime during the night, early Monday morning (pre-4 a.m.), thousands join the early revelers in the streets around the trucks blasting the music all night.

As the caravan begin to makes its way through the streets of Flatbush and parts of Crown Heights, thousands follow, many in costumes, covered by powder and just as many inebriated and/or under the influence of whatever move about until finally reaching the starting point of the parade, hours later. (Fortunately, I do not live on that side of town but for those who do, it is a sleepless night/weekend.)

Familiar with the goings on of Labor Day weekend in New York City since the West Indian Day Parades began in the late 1960’s, as a mother of a Black male, I am relieved when my son (now in his mid-30’s) touches base with me.
An even bigger relief is that for the first time in 17 years, my son was here in my house with me all night long. Trust me; it has been years since I slept so well on Labor Day.

 

I know that I’m sounding like a spoiler but for me, this is yet another downside of a sanctuary city.

I don’t get it but then I am American and the West Indian Day Parade is not about America or its people, another reason it is not my cup of tea.

I rest my case.

It was not until Labor Day 2012 after the September 11 Islamic terrorist attacks that the American flag was flown in this parade.

For the next four or five years after, the American flag displayed proudly sometime around 2008, those behind the West Indian Day Parade returned to their pre-September 11^th anti-American habits.

The mentality is that while they make their living in the United States, feed of the American workforce, the parade is about them.

Complaints have poured in for decades about the violence around this parade, however, because it’s a means of showing off to the people at home and a cash cow for the organizers, Caribbean businesses and revenue for the City and State, no amount of dead bodies will put an end to this annual train wreck.

While Black lives matter, it is the battle for the golden goose that supersedes all.

Then there is the power struggle amongst the cliques, broken down by country.

As Americans, we mostly think of discrimination in terms of black v. white but in the Caribbean community, it’s broken down by country. (Trust me, I live in an apartment building full of tenants from different countries. From time to time, it gets dicey.)

Organizers of the West Indian Day Parade are making sure it’s run by a Trinidadian majority, say critics who are charging discrimination.

The West Indian American Day Carnival Association, which organizes the annual Labor Day event along Brooklyn’s Eastern Parkway, has raked in more than $1 million in city, state and federal funds over the past five years, but the nonprofit isn’t inclusive enough to deserve taxpayer dough, according to Rickford Burke, the head of the Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy….

In the end and based on the non-stop helicopters flying overhead from Friday night through Sunday morning and then again Monday night, I would bet the ranch that much of the violence committed this past weekend has yet to be made public.

Era of de Blasio –Bloody Summer Weekends in NYC

I began this post a week ago at which point, I was focused on shootings in New York City that occurred during the weekend of August 7^th through 9^th.

Enter mid-week and the post is still not finalized the post. I decided to hold the post until Sunday night, Monday morning so that I could include another weekend of violent crime occurrences in NYC under the era of Bill de Blasio. The exception being that this weekend’s report on violence will not be limited to gun violence.

Countdown to the weekend…Thursday evening:

Gearing up for the weekend, the gun violence started early when a gun-toting Black male wearing a doo-rag and bandana to shield his face leaped out of a dark-colored Mitsubishi at Saratoga and Livonia Avenues in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn chased three men in their 20’s sitting on their stoop into the building’s cramped foyer.

With the men trapped, the gunman popped off three rounds shooting Taariq Smith, 20, and Sydney Mylles, 18 in the arm and killing twenty-one year old Isaiah Cicero with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Cicero, Smith and Mylles are allegedly gang bangers, i.e., members of the Crips and known to police, which explains why business as usual in the hood, Smith, and Mylles whose wounds are not life threatening is refusing to cooperate with investigators. [Refusal to cooperate means (a) no snitching; (b) Smith and Mylles know who killed Cicero and (c) revenge. The circle of violence will continue as whoever killed Cicero or someone close to the shooter will soon be on a slab in the morgue.]

Friday morning:

Eight hours later, inside the Howard Houses, NYC housing project located in the heart of Brownsville not far from Thursday’s shooting, Clifford Fisher, 25 died after taking a shot to the head.

Although in the same neighborhood, the shootings are supposedly unrelated and probably are because that is business as usual in the hood. (New York Daily News)

A 35 year old man was shot, twice in the back, once in the stomach and once in the left leg, in front of a church on Van Buren St. near Marcus Garvey Blvd. in Bedford-Stuyvesant shortly before 8 a.m. Shooting victim, Darell Kingsberry, died 45 minutes later at Woodhull Hospital. (New York Daily News)

Kingsberry came from a family with a history of violence.

When the Carroll Garden Patch, a Brooklyn newspaper contacted Kingsberry’s mother, through her tears, Darnella Kingsberry at her Baltimore home, she spoke of the loss of another son, 22-year-old son, Nacoma Haskin in 2002 shot and killed outside a McDonald’s in Jamaica, Queens when he went to aid a friend.

At that time, Kingsberry, mother of six told the New York Post that , “she’s surrounded by “demons…Sometimes, I just feel like it’s a curse. Everything is caving in – I’m losing my kids one by one.”

Kingsberry had good reason to feel as if she is surrounded by demons. Her then 25-year-old daughter, Darshen Kingsberry, was involved in a horrific crime in the summer of 2002, i.e., the killing of Good Samaritan, Rupinder Singh.

Singh on his way home from his uncle’s house came upon Darshen, her 4 year old daughter and some friends at a gas station along the Belt Parkway because they needed a ride.

In turn, these cold-blooded killers, taunted Singh, beat him up in his SUV and then drove him to a park where as he begged for his life, they forced on to his knees and killed him. Darshen’s little girl witnessed the whole thing.

Darshen who has a Facebook page and an accomplice received a sentence of 25 years to life for the murder of Singh.

Talk about a bad year for Darnella Kingsberry, three weeks after Darshen’s arrest son Darell Kingsberry who was killed this weekend turned himself in to law enforcement for the “December 2000 gang-related shooting of a teen.”

Darnella Kingsberry begged son Darell when he was released from prison two or three years ago after serving 12 years to leave Brooklyn. He did not.

Saturday afternoon:

A young man while waiting on a subway platform at the 14^th Street, Union Square train station was stabbed in the stomach when attacked by male rivals. The man assumedly in his 20s is in stable condition. Source: New York Daily News.

Sunday morning:

Sometime around 3 a.m., in the Washington Heights section of the Manhattan, police found a woman lying in the street middle of the street near W. 162nd St. near St. Nicholas Avenue with several knife wounds to her chest. A male, age 30 found in possession of a knife was taken into custody.

UPDATE: The woman found in the street happened to be Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter, E’Dena Hines, 33. Hines’ boyfriend is alleged to have killed her during an exorcism.

[NOTE: This not about a celebrity. Every now and then, here in NYC, a story will break about a murder connected to Santeria[i] or Haitian voodoo . In some cases, someone, somehow voodoo or something told them that his or her lover/spouse had cheated them… ]

About an hour later, a 66-year-old man was discovered lying face up in bed with a plastic bag over his head, in his Elmhurst apartment.

Sunday afternoon:

Crazed ex-boyfriend who abducted Queens woman at knifepoint arrested after stabbing himself (perpetrator is possibly an illegal immigrant).

NYPD searching for man who broke into Staten Island home, raped 7-year-old girl: cops (perpetrator is possibly an illegal immigrant).

Masturbating man tried to rape woman on Brooklyn subway train: police

 

Weekend August 7 through August 9^th –

Where to start:

7:30 pm: Setting the pace for the rest of the night/weekend, a 33-year-old male alleged member of the Bloods with a criminal record along with a female age 32 were shot.

The shootings occurred during a barbecue in the housing development, Lafayette Gardens near Classon and Lafayette Avenues located in the Bed-Stuy section of Brooklyn.

9 pm: Christopher Tennison, age 32 now deceased was shot and killed in front of the halfway house in which he lived in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn (Atlantic Avenue and Eastern Parkway).

Tennison who allegedly has a history of drugs and prior arrests died over a quarrel about money.

According to reports, the shooter who lives in a homeless shelter in the area during the row, grabbed Tennison’s wallet from his pocket and shot him in the face.

11 pm: Less than a mile away, a 22-year-old male took two bullets to the back at Osborne Street near Pitkin Avenue on the outskirt of the Howard Houses.

Sunday morning –

1 am: At the corner of Saratoga Avenue and Sumpter Street also located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, two men were shot ages 30 and 32.

At about the same time, near Queens Village, a 20-year-old male was shot in the leg at Springfield Boulevard and 112th Avenue.

Almost simultaneously, two bystanders, teenagers were shot when an argument broke at a park in Washington Heights in Manhattan on Riverside Drive near W. 158^th Street.

One of the teens was a “17-year-old girl was shot in the upper right thigh and 19-year-old man was shot in the left knee.”

Sometime Sunday morning or afternoon (not sure which), a 16 year old was shot in the foot near Co-op City in the Bronx and a male shot in the face near Marcy Avenue, Bed Stuy.

That would bring my tally up to eleven shot with one fatality.

 

The previous weekend (July 31 – August 2) was just as violent as were the weekends before. Shootings across the City resulted in 3 deaths and 19 wounded. During one of the shootings, nine people were shot at a house party in East New York, Brooklyn.

CORRECTION: 10 shooting incidents, 22 wounded — “19 in Brooklyn alone. And this capped a week which saw 18 incidents with 33 victims — before Monday’s violence.” Source: New York Post.

The summer is not done yet. We are now in mid-August and Labor Day weekend is less than 3 weeks away.

Revelers are beginning (this week) to celebrate with pre-Labor Day festivities, which translate into shots ringing out all the louder and blood flowing through the streets of the five boroughs more so.

According to the New York Daily News that brings the shooting for last week up to 26 as of midnight on Sunday, a 37% increase from last year.

None of the above includes, sexual assaults, burglaries, etc. committed which is also on the rise these days under Bill de Blasio’s reign over New York City and has New Yorkers pleading for the return of Stop and Frisk.

There is also the matter of the degeneration of the quality of life here in NYC also under Bill de Blasio but that is another post.

In fact, many of the New Yorkers pleading for its return were party to the outcry that Stop and Frisk was racist and unfair.

For the record, hell will freeze over first before de Blasio and his fellow Communists in the NYC Council acquiesce to the voice of New York begging for the return of stop and frisk.

For starters, taking down stop and frisk is touted as one of Commie Bill’s achievements aka another David Dinkins moment. Next, it is the goal of the Commie leadership of the City to take NYPD down to bare bones.

Bill de Blasio’s gift to New York is taking us back to the era of David Dinkins, which really STUNK.

What would social engineering be without the homeless and sickos urinating, defecating and masturbating on the streets of Manhattan in addition to bodies dropping and New York City streets turning crimson red from all the shootings?

New Yorkers, tourists and other visitors are pining for the days when one could walk down the street without sighting the homeless or someone with mental issues defecating in public on the sidewalk.

Not long ago, I warned my cab driver that under de Blasio Times Square would soon return to XXX status becoming a no-child zone.

Disney made Times Square child/family friendly.

Bill de Blasio hates capitalism so much, that he will destroy Times Square’s prosperity and child/family friendly environment returning it to the pimps, prostitutes, perverts and other elements of thuggery making it as dangerous, squalid and vulgar as it was pre-Disney.

Today, painted naked women have taken over the fast becoming not so children/family friendly Times Square along with loons and perverts dressed as Marvel characters that fight and threaten tourists. (Pimps must be giddy over this naked woman thing going on in Times Square.

Before long, we will hear that this morphed into a prostitution ring. Take it from one who remembers the Dinkins and pre-Dinkins era of Times Square; this is an opportunity waiting to happen.)

Disney will have to fundamentally transform its package pimping out Minnie and Mickey or leave.

Hammer Attacker’s Social Media Pages Expose a Dark, Troubled Mind

David Baril Hammer Attacker Instagram Photo

The social media pages of David Baril, 30-year-old who last Wednesday went after several women, with a hammer, one of whom was an NYPD police officer in Midtown Manhattan put on display Baril’s anger, troubled mind and paranoia.

Dubbed the hammer attacker, Baril, a paranoid schizophrenic was shot several times by Officer Geraldo Casaigne when he attempted to strike Officer Lauren O’Rourke over the head with a hammer.

Baril has been charged with seven counts of felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Baril’s Facebook page exposes his paranoia as does his Instagram page (davidbaril277, Davidb), which is laced with a myriad of vampire drawings, eye sockets sprouting blood, a hammer and ominous writings. See a few of Baril’s illustrations below.
