“…This morning the sponsor of the bill, Senator Harry Reid tweeted: “In light of recent events, I have decided to postpone Tuesday’s vote on the PROTECT IP Act…”
SenatorReid Senator Harry Reid
Do not prematurely celebrate America. I suspect that Reid and company will create a crisis to distract the country during which they will try to push this through. Grimy? Yes I know but that is how they roll.
Stay vigilant.

“Yesterday’s anti-blacklist legislation protests were fantastically successful – in the past 24 hours, key lawmakers have withdrawn their support for the proposed legislation or come out against it – but we still have a long way to go in the fight to stop SOPA and PIPA from becoming law. OnMonday the 23rd, the Senate is back in session and scheduled to vote on PIPA the next day. Now, more than ever, it’s important to keep the pressure on, so call your Senator and tell him or her that it’s time to stand with the Internet and against the Internet blacklist bills!
You can RVSP for our call-in day on Facebook and check back at our Action Center for instructions and suggestions about how to talk to your lawmakers about this important issue.”

For all those who actually believe that Barack Obama is opposed to SOPA/PIPA, how say you now?
Less than three weeks ago, Obama declared the planet a battlefield when he signed the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012.
Yesterday, thousands of sites went dark in protest of SOPA/PIPA legislation that the U.S. government is trying to enact. Such draconian legislation would affect sites globally. The anti-SOPA blackout was a resounding success forcing politicians who once supported SOPA/PIPA to change their stance.
One day later, the FBI shuts down MegaUpload.com and Megavideo, one of the world’s most popular file-sharing websites, announcing the arrest of seven on charges of piracy.
The one word that best describes today’s actions by the FBI is RETALIATION.
“The FBI’s move pushed the raging piracy debate to new territory: the role of online ‘lockers’ where users around the world store and share material, often times pirated movies and music. The raid came a day after Washington lawmakers were besieged by complaints about legislation designed to crack down on offshore file-sharing services. Internet sites like Wikipedia and Google Inc. protested the legislation as censorship.
MegaUpload, which is based in Hong Kong and was knocked offline Thursday, claimed it had 50 million daily users. The site lets individuals upload files—anything from a document to a digital movie—and provide Internet links that other individuals can use to download a copy. It charges for memberships that give users faster and unlimited amounts of transfers…”
Since the shutdown was achieved without the passage of SOPA and PIPA, one would also seriously ponder the U.S. governments’ prerequisite for such draconian legislation.
The irony of it all is this. Very shortly after the take down (15 to 20 minutes to be exact), Anonymous hacked and took down the Justice Department’s site and several record label sites which leads one to ask if hacking into our government sites is that easy, why would Americans allow the U. S. government to put our medical records online?
Anonymous take down Department of Justice, RIAA, MPAA, Universal Music
“Earlier today the sites Megaupload and Megavideo were shut down by ICE, a federal group responsible for working with and shutting down groups that pirate media illegally – in retaliation the hacker collective known as Anonymous have shut down the RIAA, the MPAA, Universal Music, and the United States Government site Justice.org, belonging to the Department of Justice. These hits have been confirmed by several anonymously run ‘official’ Anonymous sources such as twitter accounts @Anonops,@AnonymousIRC, and @YourAnonNews, and were likely planned in advance. As a bit of an extra jab after the biggest sites in this situation were downed, Anonymous noted that they should simply say, ‘for #SOPA supporters their#SOPAblackout is today.”
According to Anonymous, the ten sites that were taken down today are responsible for the takedown of Megaupload and Megavideo.
Since Wednesday’s anti-SOPA blackout, the Obama administration stepping up its game is now more than ever determined to force through the passage of these bills AGAINST THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.
As of this posting, Megaupload is back up and running, however, several of the sites taken down by Anonymous today including the FBI and Justice Department are not.
Cyberwars here we go. Once again, Obama is on the wrong side of history. Am I the only one starting to get the feeling that the Obama administration is out of its league on this one?
