CAIR loses battle to block unionization of its national office.

Although the radical Islamic organization, Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), will march with its Communist comrades for LGBT and transgender rights, minimum wage hikes and unionization of fast food franchises and companies such as Boeing, tolerance of Progressive dogma involving workers’ rights has its limits.

CAIR is fighting the Service Employees International Union’s attempts to unionize employees at CAIR’s national office.

What’s good for others is bad for CAIR?

Quite a turn around considering that during the last week of February, CAIR’s Georgia office marched alongside demonstrators in Marietta Georgia calling for improved work conditions and the unionization of a Nissan car plant in Mississippi.

According to The Daily Caller, more than 50% of CAIR employees filled out union cards handed out by SEIU 500.

CAIR took its fight to the NLRB arguing that “that it is a religious organization and therefore exempt from the National Labor Relations Act.”

Asserting that CAIR is a “civil rights group” and not a religious organization, on April 7, 2017, the NLRB’s Region 05 rejected CAIR’s argument.

The NLRB will hold an election by secret ballot on April 24, 2017.

See NLRB documents:

  • Decision and Direction of Election (pdf format)
  • Notice of Election (pdf format)

Christopher Honey, communications director for SEIU Local 500 was taken aback by CAIR’s reaction to the unionization of its employees. Honey told The Daily Caller:

“My understanding is that they [CAIR employees] reached out to us. This is an area where we are present, and so its not unusual to be approached by employees like the ones at CAIR,” Honey explained.

“We were surprised,” Honey admitted when asked about the decision by CAIR’s management to fight efforts by its employees to unionize. “They have historically been a progressive organization, and so I was very surprised that they saw it fit to appeal,” he continued…

Hold on to your hat, I do not see CAIR conceding to the will of its employees, the NLRB ruling or SEIU. How about you?

Independent Sentinel by S. Noble

The unions own the Democrat Party but the furthest left of them is the SEIU. Today she pledged to stand with them.

“I know that you are often unsung heroes. And I want you to know this. Your fights are my fights. Just like the theme of this conference says. Together, we are unstoppable. (Applause) And I’m thrilled to see so many friends from my home state of New York here today,” Hillary said….

LaGuardia Airport Cabin Cleaners Strike due to Hazardous Work Conditions (Ebola)

New York’s LaGuardia Airport Terminal D cabin cleaners walked off their jobs last night due to unsafe and unsanitary working conditions including Ebola cleanup.

The workers, employed by Air Serv, which contracts with Delta Airlines, hired to clean cabins and bathrooms are asserting that they are not adequately trained and equipped with the necessities to handle hazardous materials, including blood, feces and hypodermic needles.

New York Daily News

‘I have to deal with vomit, feces and a lot of chemicals, without proper equipment,’ cleaner Johanna Cruz, 33 and from Queens, told the Daily News. ‘They give us gloves, but they might as well be made of paper because they rip so easily.’

Cruz and other workers complained they are transported to and from the planes in beat-up vans lacking seat belts. They receive little to no training for properly disposing of blood and other bodily fluids….

As posted on SEIU, Local 32BJ Facebook page, workers staged the strike “over hazardous labor conditions, including exposure to bodily fluids without proper protective wear, lack of goggles and face masks while cleaning, and lack of seat belts in transport vehicles and unfair labor practices.”

SEIU’s website (screenshots below) states that the strike is in support of “airport workers from JFK and LaGuardia.”

BeFunky_screenshot seiu local bj laguardia airport cabin clearner strike 10082014 002.jpg

According to Hector Figueroa, President of 32BJ SEIU, “No one wants to go on strike, but the dangerous working conditions of these Air Serv cabin cleaners has given them no other choice…They have fought valiantly for two years — and have won pay raises – but still these contractors refuse to address the health and safety issues that are plaguing workers who have still not been afforded their right to join a union which would regularly advocate on their behalf.”

“who have still not been afforded their right to join a union” – The prime agenda behind last night’s strike.

Timing is, of course, everything when one takes into account that the strike began within hours of the CDC’s issuance of new Ebola screening protocols (“enhanced entry screening”) at five ports of entry in the USA.

LaGuardia Airport is not among the five airports where the new screening protocols will be implemented.

Collective bargaining aside, all everyone deserves to be protected from the Ebola virus whether it is in the workplace or on the streets of America.

Three or four days are not enough to train cabin cleaners to clean airplane cabins and bathrooms adequately and safely, let alone handle hazardous chemicals without risk to themselves, their families and the people who travel by air.

Finally, can’t help but wonder how Obama feels about SEIU cabin cleaners walking out on a plan pushed through by his administration and no doubt with his blessing.

Chicago Fast Food Workers Vote To Join National Strike Next Week

Weasel Zippers

The Chicago workers are unaware of the cost for bullet proof glass to keep them safe. Via A few hundred fast food workers in Chicago on Wednesday voted to join a national one-day strike against their employers on May 15. Strikes are planned for 150 cities, including New York City. The national strike was announced at an event there at midday on Wednesday. The Workers Organizing Committee of Chicago held a strike vote throughout the day, with the last votes cast at an 8 p.m. meeting. Deivid Rojas, a spokesman for the group, said 100 percent of the workers […]

It escapes me as to why these part-time workers are allegedly going along with SEIU’s scheme to bleed them and the corporation of which they are currently employed. (Or are they? Is this union more propaganda while using astroturf to deceive? It would not be the first time.)

The job loss that would come about would be devastating for American workers and eventually bountiful for franchise owners but the unions are already aware of the endgame.

Oh, I get it.  As with the mindset of all union workers, so long as I get mine everyone else’s pain and suffering is on the table.  Except that the ones getting their will be the workers.

Those who stand to gain are the unions, the politicians they fund and the government, all of whom will gain by extorting dues and higher taxes from the worker while at the same time extorting the corporation and franchise owner.

Such an end game would leave the workers, corporations and franchises worse off than before SEIU’s scheme was put into play.

How can these people be so greedy that they cannot see what right there in front of them? Apparently, some are not too educated either or better yet, capable of thinking outside of the box.

NLRB rules workers must pay year’s worth of dues to decertified union

Washington Examiner

If you are a worker trying to sever your relationship with a union, you have to make extra certain you didn’t make even the tiniest error when you do it. That’s what the National Labor Relations Board said Tuesday when it ruled that nine workers who decertified their union in 2012 still had to pay it another year’s worth of membership dues because they sent in some of the paperwork too early.

The case involved nine workers for a Brooklyn condo complex who voted unanimously on Sept. 26, 2012, to get rid of United Workers of America Local 621 as their bargaining representative. The following week, the workers individually sent the union letters announcing that they “elected to terminate any and all such membership obligations” with it….

Just file this in the category of “you can’t make this s**** up.”

GATEWAY PUNDIT

“Around 200 far left SEIU protesters were bused into the Dunkin Donuts parking lot in Carlisle, Pennsylvania for a protest against Mitt Romney on Friday. The screaming protesters stormed the franchise – terrifying customers and workers – and posted signs about the 99% on the windows.
The union protesters were in town attending a leadership conference.

‘Penn Live reported, via Lonely Conservative:

…The members of Service Employees International Union picked Dunkin’ Donuts because the chain is partially owned by Bain Capital, the private equity firm that Romney used to head….”

Are these morons serious?

SEIU goons/useful idiots are incapable of comprehending that they are actually doing Romney a favor by bringing attention to the fact that Bain Capital is a highly successful enterprise that partially owns Dunkin Donuts (Bain Capital acquired Dunkin Brands in December 2005 – seven full years after Romney left Bain).

DD is as popular as it is successful.  Hence, the successes of both entities are the American dream.

It is the actions of SEIU union thugs not Bain Capital or Mitt Romney that harms poor and middle class working Americans bringing to the forefront that unions and their membership is the true enemy.  How about THAT?

Finally, the owners of this DD enterprise, a privately owned business, should sue the SEIU for any damages and lost revenue incurred due to their protest and bullying.
