On the National Day of Prayer, Senator Scott spoke on the Senate floor regarding the challenges facing our low-income and minority communities.

While I agree with much that Senator Tim Scott has to say, we are not on the same page when it comes to body cameras.

Reason

Today, the state legislature passed Senate Bill 61, known as the Louisiana Public School Choice Act. If signed into law by Governor Bobby Jindal, the bill would allow parents of students in schools graded “D” or “F”to enroll their child in any public school that is graded “C” or above, beginning in the 2014–2015 school year. Parents throughout the state would no longer be limited by arbitrary school district lines that force their children to attend failing schools.

Louisiana has already made a name for itself as the Silicon Valley of education reform with the state’s Recovery School District (RSD)—the first all-charter school district in the nation, where kids enroll in the public charter school of their choice. Signing Senate Bill 61 into law would further move the needle for school choice, making Louisiana the first state to enact a statewide open enrollment policy….

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined thousands gathered in support of school choice in Houston, Texas on Saturday. The event helped kickoff National School Choice Week, a yearly event that seeks to spotlight educational freedom.

The liberal Jackson Lee and the conservative Cruz may not have much in common, but both strongly support expanding K-12 options for parents and students.

MACIVER INSTITUTE

“[Madison, Wisc…] More than a year after it was introduced, legislation that will bring unprecedented school choice to families who wish to enroll in Wisconsin’s public schools passed the Assembly Thursday.

Senate Bill 2, which expands the timing and options behind the state’s open enrollment policies, will allow parents and children more freedom than ever before when it comes to choosing the school that is right for them.

The legislation, now on its way to the Governor for his signature, will change the process of open enrollment. The law will allow for a freer transfer of students between public schools across districts. This legislation expands the formal application process from a three week span to three months and include provisions for year-round transfers for students that aren’t happy with their current schools.

The sweeping reform comes at the conclusion of  National School Choice Week and the new policy is a major victory for educational freedom for parents and schools alike. Families will now have greater options to find the public school that works best for their children.”

Way to go Wisconsin.  So tell me again, how bad is Scott Walker?

Seems to me that the unions thugs who want Walker recalled are the problem not the governor.
