gay wedding cake

The Libertarian Republic by Casey Harper

A gay rights activist announced he has swapped sides on the same-sex wedding services debate, saying he supports same-sex marriage but doesn’t believe Christians should be forced to write messages they disagree with.

Peter Tatchell’s article centers around Ashers Bakery, a United Kingdom bakery whose owner refused to make a cake with a pro-gay message. A judge ruled last year the Belfast bakery had discriminated and fined it. The case is scheduled to go before the appellate court this week.

While admitting “It pains me to say this,” Tatchell writes in an editorial in The Guardian that the ruling sets a dangerous precedent.

This raises the question: should Muslim printers be obliged to publish cartoons of Mohammed? Or Jewish ones publish the words of a Holocaust denier? Or gay bakers accept orders for cakes with homophobic slurs? If the Ashers verdict stands[…]

American Minute: “The Sovereign or Supreme Power resides in the People”- James Wilson

Faith, Founder, James Wilson, Liberty, religious-freedom

American Minute by William J. Federer

He was one of six founding fathers to sign both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

President Washington appointed him to be a Justice on the Supreme Court.

His name was James Wilson.

Born in Scotland, James Wilson was one of the first to argue against British dominance.

In 1774, James Wilson wrote “Considerations on the Nature and Extent of the Legislative Authority of the British Parliament,” reasoning that since the colonies had no representation in Parliament, the Parliament had no authority over the colonies.

In 1775, James Wilson was commissioned as a Colonel and by the end of the Revolution he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General of the Pennsylvania State Militia.

One of the most educated and prominent lawyers in America, James Wilson was chosen as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, where he spoke 168 times, more than any other delegate except Gouverneur Morris.

After the Federalist Papers, James Wilson‘s speech in the statehouse yard, October 6, 1787, was the most influential in convincing the States of ratify the U.S. Constitution.

The first law professor of the University of Pennsylvania, James Wilson wrote in his Lectures on Law, 1789-91, that all law comes from God, being divided into four categories:

“Law Eternal,”

“Law Celestial,”

“Laws of Nature,”

and:

“Law…communicated to us by reason and conscience…has been called natural; as promulgated by the Holy Scriptures, it has been called revealed…

…But it should always be remembered, that this law, natural or revealed…flows from the same divine source; it is the law of God…

Human law must rest its authority, ultimately, upon the authority of that law, which is divine.”

James Wilson concluded:

“Far from being rivals or enemies, religion and law are twin sisters, friends, and mutual assistants. Indeed, these two sciences run into each other.”

Get the book America’s God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations

To interpret statutes, James Wilson wrote:

“The first and governing maxim in the interpretation of a statute is to discover the meaning of those who made it.”

James Wilson described the “Will of God” as the:

“…efficient cause of moral obligation – of the eminent distinction between right and wrong…(and therefore the) supreme law…

(It is revealed) by our conscience, by our reason, and by the Holy Scriptures.”

At the age of 55, James Wilson died AUGUST 21, 1798.

The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania recorded in 1824:

“The late Judge James Wilson, of the Supreme Court of the United States, Professor of Law in the College in Philadelphia…for our present form of government we are greatly indebted to his exertions…

In his Course of Lectures (3d Vol. of his Works, 122), he states that…’Christianity is part of the common-law.'”

Justice James Wilson wrote in Chisholm v. State of Ga., 2 U.S. 419 (1793), 453-466:

“Man, fearfully and wonderfully made, is the workmanship of his all perfect Creator…”

“Cicero says so sublimely, ‘Nothing, which is exhibited upon our globe, is more acceptable to that divinity which governs the whole universe, than those communities and assemblages of men, which, lawfully associated, are denominated States’…

Let a State be considered as subordinate to the People…

By a State I mean, a complete body of free persons united together for their common benefit, to enjoy peaceably what is their own, and to do justice to others…

Under that Constitution there are citizens, but no subjects…

As a citizen, I know the Government of that State to be republican; and my short definition of such a Government is, one constructed on this principle, that the Supreme Power resides in the body of the people.”

In his Lectures on Law delivered in the College of Philadelphia, 1790-91, James Wilson wrote;

“In a free country, every citizen forms a part of the sovereign power: he possesses a vote…

The sovereign power residing in the people; they may change their constitution and government whenever they please…

In free states, such as ours, the sovereign or supreme power resides in the people…

In the original constitution of Rome, the sovereign power, the dominium eminens, as it is called by the civilians, always resided in the collective body of the people….

As to the people, however, in whom the sovereign power resides… from their authority the constitution originates: for their safety and felicity it is established: in their hands it is as clay in the hands of the potter: they have the right to mold, to preserve, to improve, to refine, and to finish it as they please.”

At Pennsylvania’s Convention to Ratify the Constitution of the United States, James Wilson stated December 1, 1787:

“The sovereignty resides in the people; they have not parted with it.”

“Writing” was invented around 3,300 BC with Sumerian cuneiform in the Mesopotamian Valley, meaning there exists only 5,000 to 6,000 years of recorded history, as Franklin Roosevelt stated in February 10, 1940:

“5,000 years of recorded history have proven that mankind has always believed in God in spite of many abortive attempts to exile God.”

James Wilson remarked at Pennsylvania’s ratifying convention, November 26, 1787:

“Governments, in general, have been the result of force, of fraud, and accident.

After a period of 6,000 years has elapsed since the creation, the United States exhibit to the world the first instance…of a nation… assembling voluntarily… and deciding calmly concerning that system of government under which they would wish that they and their posterity should live.”

A similar statement was made by Daniel Webster made a similar statement July 4, 1802:

“We live under the only government that ever existed which was framed by the unrestrained and deliberate consultations of the people.

Miracles do not cluster. That which has happened but once in 6,000 years cannot be expected to happen often.”

Yale President Ezra Stiles had stated May 8, 1783:

“Most of the States of all ages…have been founded in rapacity, usurpation and injustice…

The military history of all nations, being but a description of the wars and invasions of the mutual robbers and devastators of the human race…

All the forms of civil polity have been tried by mankind, except one: and that seems to have been referred in Providence to be realized in America.”

John Adams wrote in his notes of A Dissertation on the Canon and Feudal Law, February 1765:

“I always consider the settlement of America with reverence and wonder, as the opening of a grand scene and design in Providence for the illumination of the ignorant, and the emancipation of the slavish part of mankind all over the earth.”

John Jay, the First Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, stated September 8, 1777:

“The Americans are the first people whom Heaven has favored with an opportunity of…choosing the forms of government under which they should live.

All other constitutions have derived their existence from violence or accidental circumstances.”

Poet Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote:

“America…appears like a last effort of divine Providence in behalf of the human race.”

President Calvin Coolidge stated in 1924:

“The history of government on this earth has been almost entirely…rule of force held in the hands of a few.

Under our Constitution, America committed itself to power in the hands of the people.”

President Millard Fillmore stated in 1852:

“Our free institutions…were planted in the free charters of self-government under which the English colonies grew up…

European nations have had no such training for self-government, and every effort to establish it by bloody revolutions has been, and must without that preparation continue to be, a failure.”

Theodore Roosevelt stated October 24, 1903:

“In no other place and at no other time has the experiment of government of the people, by the people, for the people, been tried on so vast a scale as here in our own country.”

President Ronald Reagan stated in 1961:

“In this country of ours took place the greatest revolution that has ever taken place in the world’s history.

Every other revolution simply exchanged one set of rulers for another.

Here for the first time in all the thousands of years of man’s relation to man…the founding fathers established the idea that you and I had within ourselves the God-given right and ability to determine our own destiny.”

Kentucky Juvenile Department Bans Biblical Counseling

The latest government war on behalf of the gay mafia against Christians is unfolding in juvenile detention centers.

BEFUNKY screenshotofkentuckyjuvenilecenterterminatingpastorswhowontgoalongwithLGBTdoctrine

In this instance, the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice system is revoking the credentials of those pastors who provide “spiritual counseling and mentorship to juvenile inmates” who refuse to sign “a state-mandated statement that homosexuality was not ‘sinful,’ among other things…”

Liberty Counsel

Frankfort, KY — The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) revoked the volunteer credentials of an ordained minister because he was unable to sign a statement promising to refrain from ever telling juvenile inmates that homosexuality was ‘sinful.’ In a letter to the Commissioner, Liberty Counsel has given the Department until July 31 to reinstate David Wells’ volunteer visitor credentials.

Evangelist David Wells has served as a volunteer for over ten years, faithfully visiting and mentoring juveniles at the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center, under the prison ministry of Pleasant View Baptist Church in McQuady.

‘Many juveniles are in DJJ custody because of sexual crimes,’ said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. ‘David Wells must be able to discuss what the Bible says about matters of sexuality with the juveniles he is trying to help. To remove the Bible from a pastor’s hands is like removing a scalpel from a surgeon’s hands,’ Staver said…

Evangelist David Wells Kentucky banned from mentoring after refusing to sign a statement going along with the LGBT doctrine at Kentucky Juvenile Detention Centers.

The PC police at the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice under Policy 912 IV(H) “Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity” has ordained that such language is illegal, biased and hateful in spite of the fact that Pastor David Wells (mentioned above) never once engaged in any conversations with juveniles at the detention center that might have been misconstrued as illegal, biased and hateful.

The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice having crossed the line is now infringing upon the religious liberties and free speech of Pastor Wells and I would suspect the child by instructing the pastor as to how to mentor children desperate for spiritual enlightenment.

Page 3 of Liberty Counsel’s letter to the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice:

All of these children have asked Mr. Wells if there was any hope for them in this life,
and in the life to come. He has told them without exception that Christ can, and would,
forgive them, if they would repent and believe the gospel. This message has given them
hope, and many have told him this personally and in written correspondence.

Despite these facts, Superintendent Wade has told Mr. Wells, on the basis of Policy
912, that if a child now asks questions of him on issues involving sexual activity, he may not
discuss the same with them: ‘You can give a scripture reference to the kids, and let them
look it up, but you can’t read it in their hearing. You can’t say ‘sinful;’ you can’t discuss
sexual orientation – heterosexual or homosexual – period.’ Superintendent Wade expressed
some regret about this, stating “I’m just doing what the state is telling me to do….’

Clearly, unconstitutional, the demands made does not past the smell test.

Obama Sues to Allow Illinois Muslims to Skip Work W/O Being Fired

…if you are a Muslim in Illinois who signed a contract to work for a company, but you find that you just don’t want to do something your boss tells you to do, why, you just don’t have to do it. Oh, and if you are fired for refusing to do the work you contracted to do, why, Obama will sue your employer for you.

This is what has happened in the Land Of Lincoln with the US Government vs the Star Transport trucking company. A couple of Muslims signed a contract to work for a trucking company, a contract that says that drivers will take any load that a company administrator assigns and will deliver that payload. Period. The terms of employment are known ahead of time among all employees[…]

EEOC

As noted on the EEOC website:

EEOC Sues Star Transport, Inc. for Religious Discrimination

Agency Charges Trucking Company Failed to Accommodate and Wrongfully Terminated Two Muslim Employees For Refusal to Deliver Alcohol Due to Religious Beliefs

PEORIA, Ill. – Star Transport, Inc., a trucking company based in Morton, Ill., violated federal law by failing to accommodate two employees because of their religion, Islam, and discharging them, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.

The lawsuit alleged that Star Transport refused to provide two employees with an accommodation of their religious beliefs when it terminated their employment because they refused to deliver alcohol. According to EEOC District Director John P. Rowe, who supervised administrative investigation prior to filing the lawsuit, ‘Our investigation revealed that Star could have readily avoided assigning these employees to alcohol delivery without any undue hardship, but chose to force the issue despite the employees’ Islamic religion.’

Failure to accommodate the religious beliefs of employees, when this can be done without undue hardship, violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which prohibits discrimination on the basis of religion. The EEOC filed suit, (EEOC v. Star Transport, Inc., Civil Action No. 13 C 01240-JES-BGC,  U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois in Peoria, assigned to U.S. District Judge James E. Shadid), after first attempting to reach a voluntary settlement through its statutory conciliation process.  The agency seeks back pay and compensatory and punitive damages for the fired truck drivers and an order barring future discrimination and other relief.

John Hendrickson, the EEOC Regional Attorney for the Chicago District Office said, ‘Everyone has a right to observe his or her religious beliefs, and employers don’t get to pick and choose which religions and which religious practices they will accommodate.  If an employer can reasonably accommodate an employee’s religious practice without an undue hardship, then it must do so. That is a principle which has been memorialized in federal employment law for almost50 years, and it is why EEOC is in this case….’

Talking out of both sides of the faces, the Obama administration is suing the trucking company for violating the religious freedom of Muslims employees who intentionally broke their employment contract when they refused to do their jobs, i.e., load alcohol on to a truck.

At the same time, the Obama administration has declared war on Christian business owners who refuse to cater to gays or provide healthcare for abortion services to their employees because of their religious beliefs.  What about the liberties of Christians?

This is dangerous, if not stopped Obama will bring Sharia into our legal system one lawsuit at a time.

Second Circuit Rules Against Religious Freedom of NYC Churches

Brittius.com

In the latest episode of a nearly 20-year legal battle for religious freedom in New York City, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday upheld the Board of Education of the City of New York’s refusal to provide permits to use public school space for worship services after hours and on the weekends. The Bronx Household of Faith, a small Christian congregation in the city, has led the almost two-decade fight over the city’s infringement of religious freedom, arguing that the rule discriminates against religious viewpoints in violation of the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause of the […]
