Obama and Emanuel Pushed to Spotlight Solyndra While Major Donor Pressured for Loan

Excerpts from The Washington Post: ‘White House staff discussed in emails that either President Obama or his former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel were eager to help spotlight a solar company in early 2009, despite numerous internal warnings that the company could be financially unstable, according to new e-mails. 

‘The administration was working to arrange a way for Obama to headline a press conference in early September to announce that Solyndra of Fremont, Ca. had won a $535 million government loan to spur clean energy firms — the first his administration had provided.

‘‘Ron said this morning that the POTUS definitely wants to do this (or Rahm definitely wants the POTUS to do this?),’ one White House staffer told an Obama scheduler on Aug. 17, 2009.

‘Administration officials stress that Emanuel was always interested in how to showcase the administration’s effort to create jobs with stimulus funds….”

White House Continues Stonewalling Congressional Investigation on Project Gunrunner

Last month, on the eve of a House Judiciary Committee hearing, the Bin Laden assassination dominated the news, therefore, news that Darrell Issa eviscerated Eric Holding during the hearings received no press.

I always suspected that Bin Laden’s assassination was an intentional distraction courtesy of the Obama administration. Whether the assassination was meant to distract the nation from the House Judiciary Committee hearings, we may never know.

“Last year, on May 28, 2010 – the Friday before Memorial Day – Obama’s administration was forced to address the issue of its offering a job to Rep. Joe Sestak in return for the congressman dropping out of his senatorial primary race with Arlen Specter. It was a sloppy attempt, with Bill Clinton and Rahm Emanuel taking the fall. The scandal was nearly certain to remain in the headlines despite the administration’s holiday weekend document dump in the form of amemorandum from White House Counsel Robert Bauer.

Then something happened.

As Memorial Day was dawning in America, reports that a flotilla from Turkey attempted to break through an Israeli blockade of Gaza changed the news cycle. It was subsequently learned that Obama friends Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn helped organize the flotilla. Conveniently, the Sestak scandal never really resurfaced.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), chairman of the House Committee on Government Oversight and Reform is about to lower the boom with hearings – in phases – on the Project Gunrunner scandal, possibly as early as June 13th. This scandal blows the one involving Sestak out of the water and is looking more and more like Watergate with murder. Sipsey Street is quoting a source allegedly close to the investigation as saying he will be ‘surprised’ if Attorney General Eric Holder doesn’t end up in ‘federal prison.’

Issa was interviewed by Fox News’ Shannon Bream recently and gave some indication as to what the public might be able to expect:”

Emanuel informs union leaders of intention to cut pensions, not just for new hires

On December 15, 2010, Rahm Emanuel met privately with Chicago’s labor union leaders and informed them that if elected, he plans to cut pensions and not just for new hires.  Emanuel must be some tough sob because union leaders having intentionally kept this information from its membership seem to fear Emanuel more than their members.  The Chicago Federation of Labor, an umbrella group for 300 unions has not yet endorsed mayoral candidate.

“The sticking issue for all of us is the pension issue,’said a labor activist who attended the meeting with Mr. Emanuel. ‘ can’t tell my members we are going to support a guy who is going to cut your pensions.’

The labor leader and others who attended the meeting said they did not want to be identified for fear that Mr. Emanuel would retaliate if he were elected.”

Union leaders could not inform its membership of this development and so they kept their members in the dark.  In the end, they will make a deal and they will back Emanuel.  Am I alone in the feeling that the election is already in the bag?

Is it possible that the meeting was just another Progressive dog and pony show put on by Emanuel and union leaders for the benefit of fed up voters who Progressives are counting on to be too stupid to do the math?  If so, how long will it be before Emanuel betrays voters?

The cost of seeing Rahm Emanuel with egg on his face, PRICELESS.

Today Emanuel visited a Latino community in Chicago.  Once there, he engaged members of the community in a discussion about creating jobs, i.e., typical liberal horse fodder.  As Emanuel was leaving the event, someone threw an egg at the former White House Chief of Staff.

Too bad they missed, but if it makes you feel better, a cameraman got hit instead.

Oh and just in case you’re interested in Emanuel’s squatter, he’s not moving out until his lease expires.  Now that being said, obviously the man living in Emanuel’s home cannot possibly be a squatter as first reported after all.

One more thing, Rob Halpin, Emanuel’s tenant is considering running against Emanuel for mayor of Chicago, really.  See it for yourselves

This is simply too good to be true.  If you recall, we first heard of Halpin as a squatter living in Rahm Emanuel’s Chicago home.  Then the powers that be cleaned the story up, scrubbed the facts out of existence and now Rob Halpin is known as Emanuel’s tenant.

How is that for justice?  It just gets better.

After months of denial, rumors have resurfaced that  Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, is expected to leave his job after the November 2010 elections.  Purportedly Emanuel has grown weary of the ‘idealism’ of Barack Obama’s inner circle.  Translation:  the Obama administration, elitists and all are full of it.

Even though Emanuel has told friends that his role because of its intensity as White House chief of staff was ‘only an eighteen month job,’ rumors began to fly earlier this year indicating that it was always Emanuel’s intent to run for Mayor of Chicago.  Of course, that would be incumbent upon a decision by Mayor Daley not to run for re-election.  See, Rahm Emanuel considering run for Chicago mayor. White House says not so.

“Washington insiders say he will quit within six to eight months in frustration at their unwillingness to “bang heads together” to get policy pushed through.

Mr Emanuel, 50, enjoys a good working relationship with Mr Obama but they are understood to have reached an understanding that differences over style mean he will serve only half the full four-year term.

Friends say he is also worried about burnout and losing touch with his young family due to the pressure of one of most high profile jobs in US politics.

“I would bet he will go after the midterms,” said a leading Democratic consultant in Washington. “Nobody thinks it’s working but they can’t get rid of him – that would look awful. He needs the right sort of job to go to but the consensus is he’ll go.”

An official from the Bill Clinton era said that “no one will be surprised” if Mr Emanuel left after the midterm elections in November, when the Democratic party will battle to save its majorities in the house of representatives and the senate.

It is well known in Washington that arguments have developed between pragmatic Mr Emanuel, a veteran in Congress where he was known for driving through compromises, and the idealistic inner circle who followed Mr Obama to the White House.

His abrasive style has rubbed some people the wrong way, while there has been frustration among Mr Obama’s closest advisers that he failed to deliver a smooth ride for the president’s legislative that his background promised.”

“White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has arrived quietly in Israel for a ‘private visit’ without letting protesters know when and where his son’s Bar Mitzvah will take place. Government spokesmen did not reply to questions fromIsrael National News concerning whether Emanuel will meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres.

Emanuel said several weeks ago he would celebrate his son’s Bar Mitzvah at the Western Wall (Kotel), but Israeli activists Baruch Marzel and Itamar Ben-Gvir, calling Emanuel a ‘traitor,’ vowed they would protest his visit. ‘We will make sure to receive you as you deserve to be received … with catcalls and disgust,’ they stated.

According to ABC News, the activists are offering to take 13-year-old Zach Emanuel ‘on a day of fun without his father’ in order to ‘teach him a few things about the Jewish People’s heritage.’

If Emanuel does visit the Western Wall, it could complicate matters for President Obama, who also visited the holy site during his presidential campaign. Since taking office, President Obama has accepted virtually all of the Palestinian Authority demands that Israel surrender ‘settlements’ in parts of the capital that were restored to the Jewish State in the Six-Day War in 1967. The Western Wall and the Old City were occupied by Jordan, in violation of the 1948 United Nations Partition Plan, until 1967.”
