Every week, the WoW! community and our invited guests weigh in at the Forum, short takes on a major issue of the day, the culture, or daily living. This week’s question: Will Judge Kavanaugh Be Confirmed And What Will The Vote Be?

Don Surber: Yes.

50-50 with Pence breaking the tie.
Democrats are too dumb to allow Trump State Democrats to save their hides and one of RINOs will bolt.

Rob Miller: I have no doubt Kavanaugh will be joining the Supreme Court.

I see the vote as 52 to 54 in favor, 48 to 46 against, not accounting for any abstentions.

The only Republicans I see trying to sabotage this are Ben Senseless from Nebraska, Jeff Flake from AZ because he’s leaving and (long shot) Lisa Murkowski from Alaska. I doubt that Susan Collins votes against Kavanaugh. I’ve never agreed with her politics, but she has guts and integrity. The threats she’s been getting from the Left are exactly the sort of thing to make her dig her heels in. They grow ’em tough in Maine.

The Dems I see crossing over to vote for Kavanaugh are Heidi Hightkamp, Joe Manchin, and Claire McKasskill, with Doug Jones, Jon Tester and Joe Donnelly as possibles. With the exception of Jones (whose going to want to be re-elected in a Trump state) they’re all in tough races for re-election in states Trump carried.

As an aside, I think the Dems erred badly in trying to smear Kavanaugh with a #metoo accusation at the last minute by a Left wing nut job. It’s like a baseball pitcher with a hot curve ball or fast ball he keeps relying on to do the job. Eventually the batters get wise, expect that it’s coming and start
hammering it. As another aside, I’m eagerly waiting a thorough investigation into DiFi’s Chinese spy and the huge profits she and her husband made in China.

Jeffrey Avalon Friedberg: Yes he will be confirmed: 53-47.

The Democrat Violent Dementia was just Showtime…and their Audience appears to have been Everybody Else!

Doug Hagin: Yes, he will. Sadly, the Democrats will make it party line, with two maybe three exceptions

Dave Schuler: I agree with Don. Kavanaugh will be confirmed 50-50 with Pence breaking the tie. The vote will be essentially along party lines with Susan Collins joining the Democrats to vote against confirmation.

Bookworm Room: I believe that Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed despite the latest accusations — claims that have no contemporaneous corroboration and that come from a hard Left, Bernie-supporting academic. The Left will believe them (or will pretend to believe them), conservatives will not (and will not be pretending), and the Senate will split on straight party lines. The only risk is that Sen. Collins will have a panic attack, but I think Trump will call her with something akin to Margaret Thatcher’s famous reminder to Ronald Reagan not to go “wobbly.”

Laura Rambeau Lee: : One thing we can count on. The left always resorts to unsubstantiated claims of sexual misconduct when they have nothing else. They bring forth salacious unproveable accusations from, this time, a lefty professor related to an “incident” that happened over three decades ago in high school and then go on the Sunday morning mainstream media circus circuit, expressing the need for a delay in the vote until everything is thoroughly investigated. The fact that Senator Dianne Feinstein knew in July and kept this information from everyone throughout the personal meetings and public “inquisition” of Judge Kavanaugh until the final week of the process proves they have nothing valid to use as a reason for denying his appointment.

Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed. He is extremely qualified and as an originalist who believes in a strict textual interpretation of the Constitution will ensure the court remains conservative for decades to come. His nomination affirms again that our vote for President Trump was the right one for the future of our country.

One has to believe there are a few Democrats who remain silent but are appalled by the tactics of those within their party. The vote will be close, perhaps 52 or 53, but in the end Brett Kavanaugh will be appointed to the Supreme Court.

On her program last night, Judge Jeanine Pirro ripped Senator Dianne Feinstein and her fellow DemonRATS a new one last night in her opening statement, the subject of which is their failed Hail Mary pass aka smear campaign of Supreme Court Justice nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.  Judge Jeanine nailed it.  Her opening statement is one for the books.

Nike Swooshes America

So many pieces, so little time.

An awful lot of points of national survival converge from this little misstep by Nike in re the Matter of Colin Kaepernick as their new #JustDoIt poster boy.

The first piece of the jigsaw is why do so many corporations these days get away with throwing their “brand” and potential profit margins under the bus, when both are treasures their boards of directors and management in publically-traded companies are required to protect? By law?

Nike took a five point tumble when they launched the new Kaepernick campaign a few days ago, but have gained much of it back. And sales have increased, so any notion that Nike may lose money long term is premature to call. In fact, overseas, where America (and Trump) is seen as an enemy to European political and ruling class anyway, Nike’s stock may go up.

Brand analysts are guarded about the long term risk Nike has taken, and may profit from it, since most of Nike’s buyer-base are high-end spenders who are largely indifferent to patriotic themes, National Anthem and such, but virulently opposed to ideas that are sold to them as racist.

I’m most taken  by the notion that Madison Avenue largely sees America as little more than a “brand” that can be bought and sold.

Hold that thought, for in the up-scale buying market, everything, including ideas, have to be sold. They are rarely learned or discovered anymore, either from intellectual inquiry or by personal observation.

Brand analysts know this, even if most of us don’t. And they’ve known it for a long time. And their best paying jobs are in politics, not in selling retail products.

In the Kaepernick case, it’s almost as if some market guru came to Colin three years ago and said, “Since your career’s not going anywhere anyway, let us pitch this idea.” Maybe they even sent in the succubus.

Don’t laugh, this is perfectly plausible.

So in a related story, people thought Dick’s Sporting Goods would suffer when they distanced themselves from the NRA brand after the Parkland shootings in February. But they had actually stopped selling assault-style rifles long before, in all but a few subsidiary stores, after Sandy Hook in 2012. Dick’s is down over 10 points since Sandy Hook (close to 25%) but up about 5 since Parkland (2017), so the retail chain’s financial condition may have little to do with the NRA or its 2nd Amendment position.

While publically traded, Dick’s is still a family company and its brand loyalty is nothing compared to the iconic name of Nike and its swoosh.

But Dick’s sells Nike, so we’ll see as the NFL season progresses if they can dodge a second round of outrage from an even broader audience[…]

What If? Are Chili Rellenos the Answer?

You all know by now about the assault on a swank DC Mexican Restaurant by a group of American political terrorists. The story and video are available from several sources, some sympathetic, others outraged.

This one runs over 10 minutes, providing the full scope of the “battle area”.

Rather than get your panties in a bunch about the insolence or language, which has become so common and predictable as to be ordinary anymore, from a large part of our educated youth these days, notice the rest of restaurant, and the general absence of restaurant management. Again, for over 10 minutes.

Now, WHAT IF, what if just one of those patrons had stood up, picked up his or her plate of chili rellenos, and calmly walked over to where one of the loud-mouths were standing, and face planted those chili rellenos.

In Hollywood, this is called a “show stopper”, for there is usually a pregnant pause of several seconds once some new twist of action comes from out of nowhere, and no one, no one is sure what comes next.

In the famous Peckinpah western, “Wild Bunch”, this is the perfect example, and under the circumstances, the prefect setting:

For a few second no one knows what comes next. Then all hell breaks lose.

(Spoiler alert, if you haven’t seen it, the four gringos are killed, but not before taking out all of management, and about 200 of their front line employees.)

So, back at the restaurant, here we are with a soiled would be Antifa hero, a plateful of cheese and chili stuff running down his best tee-shirt, trying to decide whether to look cool or revert to his/her 11-year old foot stomping teat fit at FAO Schwarz’s[…]

Underneath the hotel I always stayed in Bulgaria is an (unlicensed) Buddha Bar, where the music blared on until 3-4 AM daily. But some of it was unique and interesting, so much so, I wanted a copy and was willing to pay for it. So, one morning I went around to ask about it. So I walked in, and no one was there except a bartender and a floor boss. I said, “Excuse me, but I was wondering…” when I was interrupted with “Get out of my bar, you steenking f**king Amerikan!), so I turned and walked back out.

At least I knew they were Russian.

But don’t you just hate it when people do that to you? When a total stranger walks up to you, looks you up and down, and then says “I hate you. I hope you die.”? Kinda knocks you down, huh? Only in New York do people have ready replies for such a sudden insult. It’s the worst form of assault, to have a person you’ve never met walk up and call you a Bigot, Racist, or Greedy Pig, whatever, you name it, then damn you for it.

Actually, it’s the second worst, as the worst is peeping over the rim of your foxhole and shooting at that perfect stranger 200 yards away, peeping back at you over the top of his foxhole. And that’s the point.

What this is, is war…without guns…being waged against us. They are no longer inhibited by social conventions.  They are emboldened and will do this now without qualm, guilt or shame. And while it is always our desire to live in a live-and-let-live world, they are not. And they don’t believe they should have to, anymore.

They, not you, have announced the stakes of this War.

We often speak of rules of engagement here, but from time to time we need to be reminded what the underlying Terms of Warfare in the this War are:

THEY HATE YOU BECAUSE OF WHO YOU ARE

THEY HATE YOU BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU STAND FOR

Nothing more, nothing less. It’s nothing you said, nothing you did. Just who you are.

Get used to it. So go to your closet and learn to deal with it.

Rep. Trey Gowdy: Dems’ lack of curiosity about the FBI is stunning (video)

On ‘Sunday Mornings Futures’ with Maria Bartiromo, Rep. Trey Gowdy, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee discussed the handling of the so-called Trump investigation by the FBI, DOJ, the Communist media complex and Progressives.

Gowdy, forever the statesman, took no prisoners as he called out the double standard and handling of the Clinton email server investigation.

Of Adam Schiff, Gowdy lashed out at loon from California for claiming last March that he had “more than circumstantial that Trump’s associates colluded with the Russians to interfere in the U.S. election.” Schiff made the statement prior to the commencement of the investigation.

Some of my Democratic colleagues, namely Adam Schiff, said he had evidence, more than circumstantial evidence of collusion, before the investigation even began.

Gowdy also called out the 60 Democrats who are pursuing the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump’s merely for the sake of doing so:

“Almost 60 Democrats voted to move forward with impeachment. Already. Before Bob Mueller’s released a single finding. Before the House Intelligence or Senate Intelligence Committees have released a single, solitary finding, almost 60 House Democrats think the president ought to be removed from office.”

Thus, it is no coincidence that in response to Gowdy’s weekend interview along with growing calls by Republicans for Robert Mueller to step down and for investigations of pro-Hillary hacks on Mueller’s team that Senator Dianne Feinstein in an attempt to blunt the calls on Tuesday released Glenn Simpson, CEO of Fusion GPS’ transcript.

Feinstein’s rationale does not hold water. Her release of the transcript of the closed-door meeting with Simpson against the approval of Republicans is both political and strategic, intended to provide red meat to the Communist media complex and NeverTrumpers. It is also very much in line with the agenda to leak information by various parties supportive of this endless anti-Trump witch hunt.

Dianne Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, released the 312-page transcript of its closed-door interview with Mr. Simpson in August, a unilateral decision Republican committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley of Iowa called “confounding” and damaging to the panel’s still-ongoing probe.

Mr. Steele “said he was professionally obligated” to go to the FBI, Mr. Simpson told the committee. “He thought from his perspective there was an issue — a security issue about whether a presidential candidate was being blackmailed…”

Feinstein wants to retire from the U. S. Senate a hero. Taking the path of least resistance, Feinstein has aligned herself with fellow Progressives leaking propaganda to delegitimize and takedown a sitting U. S. President. Moreover, although Feinstein did not leak under the cover of anonymity (not that the other leakers did), the retiring senator’s action is clearly intended to further the impeachment process down the line should the opportunity arise. As such, that will be Feinstein’s claim to fame along with her failed attempt to silence Reps. Trey Gowdy, Jim Jordan and Michael Gaetz.

Expect to hear more from Rep. Trey Gowdy and Adam Schiff. Schiff won’t be able to handle whatever Gowdy brings to the table.
