Lyin’ Ted Mulling Over Re-Launching Campaign, Moving to Commandeer RNC Platform

“It’s important that this not appear as though we are pulling a stunt at this convention” Ken Cuccinelli to the New York Times “This is about protecting movement conservatism.”

Actually, it has nothing to do with conservatism, everything to do with winning since the voters has spoken, and Ted Cruz having suspended his campaign one week ago while in the process of siphoning off delegates is talking about unsuspending his campaign.

The Cruz crew working behind the scenes with the Senator from Texas holding on to his delegates through this summer’s Republican Party Convention this July in Cleveland, Ohio is moving to commandeer the RNC platform thereby wrestling the presidential nomination from the presumptive nominee, Donald Trump.

The latest Ted Cruz talking point is that if the senator from Texas wins the Nebraska GOP primary today, he will jump back in.

What shall we deduce from said statement? Ted Cruz only appeared to suspend his campaign, something that will please Cruz supporters…only? (Lyin’ Ted Cruz?)

The Hill by Ben Kamisar

Ted Cruz floated the possibility of restarting his presidential campaign if he wins Nebraska’s GOP primary on Tuesday and avoided saying whether he supports Donald Trump‘s bid for president.

Cruz, who suspended his White House run last week, said he does not expect to win Nebraska’s primary but is leaving the door open.

‘We launched this campaign intending to win. The reason we suspended our campaign was that with the Indiana loss, I felt there was no path to victory,’ he said Tuesday on conservative host Glenn Beck’s radio program.

‘If that changes, we will certainly respond accordingly.’

Cruz demurred on supporting Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, because the Republican National Convention and general election are still months away.

‘This is a choice every voter is going to have to make. I would note, it’s not a choice we as voters have to make today,’ Cruz said when asked about supporting Trump. …

It is not about the voters. The voters have spoken. Cruz was obviously smarting from his exchange with Trump supporters last week; a nightmarish two weeks followed by his loss in Indiana but having regrouped its business as usual.

Now about stacking the deck against Donald Trump.

New York Times by Jonathan Martin

Senator Ted Cruz’s supporters are mounting an effort to seize control of the Republican platform and the rules governing the party’s July convention, the first indication that Mr. Cruz will not simply hand his delegates over to Donald J. Trump.

In an email sent Sunday to pro-Cruz convention delegates, a top aide to the Texas senator wrote that it was “still possible to advance a conservative agenda at the convention.”

“To do that, it is imperative that we fill the Rules and Platform Committees with strong conservative voices like yours,” wrote Ken Cuccinelli, who was the campaign’s former delegate wrangler and a former attorney general of Virginia. “That means you need to come to the national convention and support others in coming, too!”

Mr. Cruz is planning a Monday evening conference call where, as Mr. Cuccinelli writes, Mr. Cruz’s former officials plan to “discuss what we can do at the convention to protect against liberal changes to our platform, and how we can right the wrongs in the rules from 2012!”

The “wrongs” Mr. Cuccinelli was referring to are the changes pushed through at the last convention by supporters of Mitt Romney that would have made it harder for a candidate’s name to be placed in nomination.

But Mr. Cruz’s supporters and other conservative activists are also deeply concerned about Mr. Trump’s general election agenda, and want to ensure that he does not alter the party’s platform. Since locking up the nomination last week, Mr. Trump has made clear he intends to run a populist campaign against Hillary Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee, indicating he is open to higher taxes and an increase in the minimum wage.

The party’s convention rules and policy platform are determined every four years by temporary committees comprised of a select group of convention delegates. The rules and platform are then ratified or rejected by all the delegates at the convention.

With the assumption that the party’s nomination would not be decided on the first convention ballot, Mr. Cruz spent considerable time this spring electing delegates favorable to him to the July convention in Cleveland. So while he is out of the race, many of his supporters will still be delegates. And while many convention delegates are bound to support Mr. Trump on the first ballot, they are free to vote their conscience on matters relating to convention rules and the platform. …

Except that Cruz is not out of the race. He merely put forth the illusion of same.

… The email, which carries the “Cruz-Fiorina” logo, was forwarded to The New York Times by a convention delegate.

Reached by telephone, Mr. Cuccinelli authenticated the message. As for Mr. Trump’s rhetorical shifts in recent days, he said, “nothing I’ve seen since a week ago has been surprising to me.”

But Mr. Cuccinelli said Mr. Cruz, who has been silent since withdrawing from the race last Tuesday, had no intention of trying to rewrite convention rules in an effort to deny Mr. Trump the nomination….

Beck has obviously refilled his meds over the weekend. Below is this morning’s exchange between Glenn Beck and Ted Cruz.

No coincidence that Beck interviews Cruz on the morning of the Nebraska primary.

What about last week’s televised press conference where Cruz announced that he was suspending his campaign? Oh, that….which pretty much means that everything that has occurred since within the Republican Party can be chalked up to nothing more than a distraction and an opportunity for Ted Cruz to catch his breath while continuing to work behind the scene.

While dismissing his behavior and that of the #NeverTrumpsters these past months, Beck on today’s radio program (audio at bottom of post),Beck accused the GOP of using Alinskyite tactics (which they are but they’re not alone) against conservatives.

Interestingly enough, while sharing his newfound revelations, Beck mentioned that Rience Priebus was in negotiations with someone at Mercury in the hopes of meeting with Beck and scheduling an on-air interview. However, since Cruz suspended his campaign, Priebus backtracked and is no longer taking or returning calls from Beck’s people.

Teachable moment: While Beck never mentions it, it does seem that he was burned by his establishment collaborators.

Washington Examiner by Jenna Lifhits

Hillary Clinton is doubting the extent of her predicted win over Bernie Sanders in New York, MSNBC contributor John Heilemann said Friday on Morning Joe.

Heilemann said Clinton does not “have a lock” on New York, even though she lives in the state and served as New York senator for eight years.

“I do not think she [has a lock on New York] and I don’t believe the Clinton campaign thinks she does,” he said.

He said that while Clinton has high odds of winning constituencies in Manhattan, Sanders has appeal in the rest of the state […]

One the one hand, some of the younger New Yorkers do hold a favorable view of Bernie Sanders but like the rest of the useful idiots they are ignorant when it comes to Communism and the effect it would have on their lives.

On the other hand, there are those who believe that Sanders will not live through the presidency, if elected. For the record, Sanders is 74 and Hillary Clinton, 68. If elected, Hillary would enter the White House at the age of 69.

Many of the latter lean toward Hillary for some stupid reason of which, they remain clueless.

Betraying Pledge and Voters, Mitch McConnell, GOP will help Hillary win if Trump Nominated

Drawing a line in the sand, Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell is hatching a scheme that should Donald Trump become the 2016 Republican Party nominee, the Republican Party will sacrifice the 2016 Presidential election to Hillary Clinton.

McConnell’s nefarious scheme which by the way is a blatant violation of the Republican Party pledge, has nothing to do with saving the Constitution which the Senator Majority Leader and leadership despises or acting in the interest of the nation.

The scheme, hatched a Progressive elitists is solely intended to secure the power structure of the Republican Party establishment, its power brokers, lobbyists and donors, all of which threatens to crumble under a Trump presidency.

As reported in an article by The New York Times (a must read), Karl Mr. Chalkboard Rove, pointed out at governor’s luncheon nine days ago in Washington, D.C. that it is not too late to take Trump out.

As Trump moves closer to becoming the nominee, the treachery deepens.

….Mr. Rove, the master strategist of George W. Bush’s campaigns, insisted it was not too late for them to stop Mr. Trump, according to three people present.

At a meeting of Republican governors the next morning, Paul R. LePage of Maine called for action. Seated at a long boardroom table at the Willard Hotel, he erupted in frustration over the state of the 2016 race, saying Mr. Trump’s nomination would deeply wound the Republican Party. Mr. LePage urged the governors to draft an open letter “to the people,” disavowing Mr. Trump and his divisive brand of politics….

Scratch that proposal.

In the meantime, with the wind at his back, voters by his side and Super Tuesday on the horizon, Trump has gone on to win New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada invoking fear in the hearts of establishment fat cats such as Mitch McConnell who is now declaring all out war against the anti-establishment candidate.

New York Times

In public, there were calls for the party to unite behind a single candidate. In dozens of interviews, elected officials, political strategists and donors described a frantic, last-ditch campaign to block Mr. Trump — and the agonizing reasons that many of them have become convinced it will fail. Behind the scenes, a desperate mission to save the party sputtered and stalled at every turn….

There you have it. While there are calls for the Republicans to unite behind one candidate, the leadership believes that the power to choose the candidate does not lie with the people.

For McConnell and cohorts, none of this is about saving the future of the nation; it is about saving the party, the lifestyle and power structure of fellow elitists who have long forgotten that they were elected by the people to represent our interests.

…Efforts to unite warring candidates behind one failed spectacularly: An overture from Senator Marco Rubio to Mr. Christie angered and insulted the governor. An unsubtle appeal from Mitt Romney to John Kasich, about the party’s need to consolidate behind one rival to Mr. Trump, fell on deaf ears….

Are you kidding, the GOP establishment actually expected that a call from Marco Rubio to Chris Christie would bring Christie running like up lapdog into the fold?

Condescending, out of touch and everything that disgusts Americans with the Republican Party establishment!

….At least two campaigns have drafted plans to overtake Mr. Trump in a brokered convention, and the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, has laid out a plan that would have lawmakers break with Mr. Trump explicitly in a general election….

Moreover, this too shall fail along with along with any attempts by Senator Ted Cruz to collaborate with the establishment in the take down of Donald Trump.  Oh wait, Cruz did so already on Thursday night when he and Marco Rubio double-teamed Donald Trump.

Message to Cruz: Suicide is fatal but then this is not about Cruz becoming the nominee either.

…While still hopeful that Mr. Rubio might prevail, Mr. McConnell has begun preparing senators for the prospect of a Trump nomination, assuring them that, if it threatened to harm them in the general election, they could run negative ads about Mr. Trump to create space between him and Republican senators seeking re-election. Mr. McConnell has raised the possibility of treating Mr. Trump’s loss as a given and describing a Republican Senate to voters as a necessary check on a President Hillary Clinton, according to senators at the lunches….

The Republican Party establishment is no longer hiding the fact that they are in bed with the left.

…Despite all the forces arrayed against Mr. Trump, the interviews show, the party has been gripped by a nearly incapacitating leadership vacuum and a paralytic sense of indecision and despair, as he has won smashing victories in South Carolina and Nevada. Donors have dreaded the consequences of clashing with Mr. Trump directly. Elected officials have balked at attacking him out of concern that they might unintentionally fuel his populist revolt. And Republicans have lacked someone from outside the presidential race who could help set the terms of debate from afar….

Surely, it does not help that Governors Chris Christie of New Jersey, Jan Brewer of Arizona and Maine’s Governor Paul LePage, who just nine days ago trashed Trump has endorsed the candidate.

As for Mitch McConnell’s collaboration with Progressive counterparts on both sides of the aisle, McConnell along with John Boehner and other members of the GOP leadership spent the past eight years working with Barack Obama building the platform that is bringing about the infringement of our liberties and fundamental transformation of America.

It, therefore, makes perfect sense that the GOP leadership would double down on their efforts by conspiring with Hillary Clinton to take the White House in 2016 against Donald Trump, Ted Cruz (yes, Ted Cruz) and the American people.

Finally, the Progressive establishments of both parties, including Trump’s opponents and their supporters have boarded the collective bandwagon (how distasteful) to demand that Trump disavow David Duke’s endorsement.

For the record and while Trump has disavowed Duke’s endorsement, where were those voices back in 2011 when Duke of whom I am not a fan joined Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Bernie Sanders in support of Occupy Wall Street?

I am talking specifically referring to the Occupy Wall Street camp in Zuccotti Park, NYC.

The same OWS camp who told Blacks and Jews that they were not welcome in Zuccotti Park.

The same OWS camp that exiled Blacks from the park ordering them to go Occupy Newark?

The same OWS camp (among others) that unleashed endless attacks against Jews working in lower Manhattan.

Are people so busy attacking Trump that it has gone over their heads that Duke’s endorsement may have been another establishment ruse, i.e., throw everything at Donald Trump including the kitchen sink and hope it sticks? Something to think about.

H/t BizPac Review.

Clinton Camp Acts to Checkmate Joe Biden

While the gap between Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden continues to narrow with 48% of likely Democratic voters leaning toward Clinton, 34% Biden and 11% undecided, the Clinton campaign is moving to checkmate or at least stymie Biden’s efforts to run.

New York Times by Amy Chozick and Maggie Haberman

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign, increasingly worried about the threat of a challenge from Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., is making a sudden and urgent effort to throw roadblocks into his path.

After months of voicing doubt about a challenge from the vice president, Clinton campaign operatives are viewing Mr. Biden’s entry into the contest as a serious possibility and are trying to rally the party’s apparatus and its donors to her side. They have flooded uncommitted Democrats with emails, phone calls and a plea for them to sign a letter, a copy of which was obtained by The New York Times. In the letter, Democrats are asked to ‘pledge to support Hillary Rodham Clinton at the 2016 Democratic National Committee Convention with my unpledged delegate vote.’

A campaign aide said that given the mistakes of Mrs. Clinton’s 2008 campaign, they had always planned to make an early and aggressive push to lock down superdelegate support.

This Saturday, hours before Mr. Biden appears as the keynote speaker at the annual gala of the Human Rights Campaign, the most influential gay and lesbian political group in the country, Mrs. Clinton will have breakfast with the same group. And next Tuesday, former President Bill Clinton will appear on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” after an emotionally powerful appearance by Mr. Biden that became a viral video among some in the Democratic Party….

According to last week’s telephone poll (Rasmussen), 67% of likely Democratic voters believe the possibility exists of Biden seeking the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, 21% say” it’s very likely” and 26% who believe that a Biden candidacy is unlikely to happen.

Either way a vote for Biden or a vote for Hillary is a vote for Barack Obama and while one has been proven a liar, the other has proven himself a lecherous old son of a gun; yet, both are the face of failed social engineering policies that have destroyed our cities, government overreach, tyranny and the reflection of moral decline in America.

The tobacco industry and Greasy Charlie Rangel’s cozy relationship

Charles Rangel, Elections 2014, Harlem, New York, Primaries

New York Post

Veteran Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel had a decades-long political love affair with the tobacco industry, documents obtained by The Post reveal.

Fawning correspondence between the raspy-voiced Rangel — an ex-smoker now facing a tough re-election — shows he even solicited funds from the industry for the mayoral campaign of David Dinkins.

The documents were provided as part of a tobacco litigation settlement in 1998 and are now public.s….’

I would love to say that this is the election that Greasy Charlie goes down in flames but I don’t want to jinx it. Not that the other candidate is any better.

Charles Rangel is up for re-election this year against Adriano Espaillat who nearly unseated Rangel in the last primary.

I would love to say that this is the election where Greasy Charlie goes down in flames but I wouldn’t want to jinx it, not that the other Espaillat is any different.

Espaillat who like everyone else in politic as has no problem with nepotism is under investigation by the FBI for funding provided to community organizations in Harlem.

FBI questioning people about Espaillat’s community-group funding (0406/2013-NYP)

The FBI has been questioning people about state Sen. Adriano Espaillat and his funding of community groups in upper Manhattan, sources told The Post yesterday…

‘FBI agents were asking about member items that Espaillat provided to community organizations,’ a source said, referring to lawmakers’ practice of directing money to their districts….

Espaillat sponsored or co-sponsored almost 100 member items as an assemblyman in the four years before his Senate election in 2010, records show….

Espaillat’s ‘drop dead or move away’ vote under fire

State Sen. Adriano Espaillat’s controversial votes as an Albany legislator more than a decade ago are coming back to haunt him in his bid to oust veteran Harlem Congressman Charles Rangel.

Espaillat, who previously served in the state Assembly, voted for a law in 1999 that scrapped the commuter tax on suburbanites who work in New York City — a move that has deprived the Big Apple of billions of dollars in revenues over the past decade.

The Rangel campaign claimed that Espaillat’s vote amounted to telling his constituents ‘to drop dead or move away….’

Okay, I admit it, I enjoy watching Progressives eat their own. Rangel for the first time in decades has his work cut out for him this election season.

While Rangel has always carried Harlem and his district in the Bronx, these districts have been remapped thus changing their ethnic makeup to more than 50% Latinos. Coincidence?  I don’t think so. (Am I the only one who believes that by remapping Rangel’s districts, a message is being sent?)

Taking that and gentrification into account, Rangel has resorted to doing what Progressives do when in a bind, i.e., gin up support by use of the race card.

pot calling the kettle black 003

Rangel accuses challenger Espaillat of running on ethnicity

Rep. Charles Rangel accused chief rival Adriano Espaillat of running entirely on his ethnicity while blasting his record as state senator during a heated debate Friday at WABC-TV.

‘I hope somewhere during this debate…to try to share with the listening and watching audience just what the heck has he done besides saying he’s Dominican?’ Rangel demanded 14 minutes into the one-hour showdown….

Espaillat shot back by charging that the 22-term congressman was playing dirty politics….

As we get closer to the primaries (June 24, 2014), the nastier this battle becomes.

What is the difference between these two Progressives? Nada. Make they knock each other out with the race card.  Speaking of which, Rangel has a lot of nerve since he never met a deck of race cards he did not like…until now.
