“He who lives in a glass house should never throw stones,” a metaphor staunchly ignored by Republican Party 2016 presidential candidate, Senator Marco Rubio’s whose glass house may be on the verge of crumbling down and just in time for tonight’s Fox News GOP Debate.
Former Congressman David Rivera (R-FL), a close political ally and best friend of the GOP establishment’s chosen one, Marco Rubio, is under investigation by the FBI.
According to a report by The Observer, the investigation involves a $100,000 bribe campaign contribution to Rivera along with amigo, Rubio’s “mutual involvement in various shady deals” and alleged “long track record of corruption that his political enemies will have a simple time exploiting” which dates back more than a decade.
The Observer (excerpt)
… the FBI refused to cut a deal with a businessman facing indictment who provided federal and state investigators with evidence that Mr. Rivera took a $100,000 bribe from a gambling executive based in Broward County.
The bribe came in the form of a $100,000 campaign contribution. Mr. Rivera agreed to take the cash during a secret meeting with the executive, ran it through a political entity that he claimed his mother was running, and used the money to pay for his personal expenses, said the source, who is a well-connected lawyer in Florida.”
Mr. Rivera and Mr. Rubio — who each received large legal campaign contributions from the gambling industry — subsequently voted against allowing the Seminole tribe to expand its gambling operations in Florida, exactly as the alleged bribe-offering executive wanted….
Mr. Rivera and Mr. Rubio were also involved in another dubious deal in the mid-2000s that is breathtakingly brazen even by Florida’s promiscuous standards and which was partially unraveled over many years by a joint FBI/DEA task force. One of the key figures in the scam was Alan Mendelsohn, a GOP lobbyist and fundraiser who raised about $2 million that he funneled to numerous Florida politicians or used for his personal benefit….

Rubio’s appearance of distancing himself from his bff, the former Congressman is nothing more than an illusion. Case in point, the Iowa caucuses.

…Rivera traveled to Iowa ahead of Monday’s caucuses, visiting the eastern portion of the state and at meeting with other Rubio friends and volunteers to watch the results Monday night.
One of them posted a photograph of Rivera and three others posing at a Hooters restaurant in Davenport. In the picture, Rivera is giving a thumbs-up.
Dana Hudson, a Washington lobbyist and Rubio backer, posted the photo on Facebook. She appeared next to Rivera, along with Miami pollster Dario Moreno and Rafael “Ralph” Perez, a former aide to then-state Rep. Rubio. (Perez is also giving a thumbs-up.)
…Moreno said he and Perez volunteered for Rubio’s campaign, knocking on voters’ doors and telephoning them, but Rivera did not participate in those activities….

No wonder Floridians hate Rubio. Where there is smoke, there is fire. Marco Rubio is bought, paid for and owned by the establishment, lobbyists and donors and, therefore, ineligible and undeserving.
