Words escape me. Great Britain demanding the death of ill children. Infanticide.

Little Alvie Evans died last night. A toddler child confined to a National Health Service Hospital; their dictates, their decrees, and finally, the throwing of the switch. Alfie isn’t the first notorious case the world is aware of coming out of England. Remember Charlie Gard? “Charlie Gard: A Society Which Loses its Humanity, Loses its Soul”

Alvie Evans’ story is another glimpse into what happens in a totalitarian Socialist State. It’s another example of outcomes when the State owns your healthcare and your life. Think about it. In socialism, the People are owned by the government, their everyday lives are affected, but worst of all, the government owns your body by being in control of your healthcare.

Joe Herring writes eloquently about Alfie Evans’ plight, “Another Child Sacrifice on Britain’s NHS Altar” published only hours before the baby’s death was reported, but he nails what’s wrong with Britain’s National Heath Service, and the dangerous outcomes of complete State control of your healthcare. In the cases of Charlie Gard and Alfie Evans it isn’t just the confiscation of their rights by the State, but Great Britain has taken the right to determine what is best for children out of the hands of the parents. The United Kingdom’s judiciary and National Health Service own the children, and parental rights have been extinguished.

Alfie Evans’ case is even more egregious than infant Charlie’s. In Alfie’s case there was more knowledge and aid available to assist him, from diagnosis to treatment, than in Charlie’s situation. Italy had granted baby Alfie citizenship and was standing by with an air ambulance to take Alfie to Italy for care. But that was not to be allowed – no escape from the British Kingdom of Socialism. Note that money was not an issue for Charlie Gard or Alfie Evans, both had either raised the funds needed for critical transport and care, or it was being given to them. It was simply a matter that the NHS wasn’t going to turn the babies loose[…]

Recently, William McGurn of the WSJ, wrote a thoughtful and compassionate article regarding the situation of Charlie Gard. WSJ has a paywall, here is another source:
I agreed 100% with Mr. McGurn’s perspective, and had some additional thoughts/perspective to add regarding this tragic story.

Let’s go back to 1930’s Germany. Hitler went through the hospitals and killed the old, the sick, the infirm, and the disabled. Family and friends of loved ones who they expected to return home or at least be cared for in the health institutions of that era, never saw them again. Essentially, the “undesirables” of society ended up as part of the millions killed in the Holocaust. Too few people study Germany and the changes in her cultural institutions before World War II, but that’s critical to ultimately understanding the onset of that war. Germany had to be groomed by Hitler in the 1930’s to pave the way for his plans of taking over Europe and initiating/completing his “Final Solution.” Those plans included not only Jews, but the weak, disabled, elderly and his political opponents.

Charlie Gard’s story gives us a glimpse of this same pathway. Britain’s National Health Service has been set up to “own” the individual – whether child or adult. When Charlie was born and had to be placed in neonatal intensive care, the NHS terminated the parental rights of Charlie’s parents, Connie Yates and Chris Gard. The parents have spent precious months fighting for the right to take the baby out of the NHS and come to America where a physician was willing to try an experimental treatment. In baby Charlie’s case, it wasn’t even about money because the parents had independently raised the necessary funds, but it is/was about who has the RIGHT to determine what was best for Charlie.

The parents wanted to try anything possible to save his life – the State decided nothing was possible and took all control of Charlie away from Connie and Chris. This is what happens in a State controlled health service. The parents appealed to the European Union’s High Court, and the decision of the UK Court AND the National Health Service was upheld. Considering what is happening in the Netherlands – their open and almost gleeful embrace of euthanasia, assisted suicide – the EU Court siding with Britain’s NHS is no surprise. Read another WSJ article, “In the Netherlands, the Doctor Will Kill You Now” by Kees van der Staaij[…]

Older people with lung cancer are much less likely to be given life-saving surgery than the young, it has been revealed.

Those aged 75 or over were five times less likely to have an operation even if they were in good health and their cancer had not spread.

The research by Macmillan Cancer Support, with Monitor Deloitte and Public Health England, adds to mounting evidence of age discrimination in NHS treatment.

Experts say there are complex reasons why older patients may not receive surgery, including other serious health conditions or if the cancer has spread.

But Ciaran Devane, chief executive at Macmillan, said that isn’t the whole picture…. many older cancer patients’ treatment is chosen based on their age alone…

As reported last year by the Express.co.uk, only14% of seniors over the age of 74 were offered chemotherapy post breast cancer surgery, a treatment that is standard for younger patients.

…In nearly a third of 803 case studies, doctors decided on treatment without looking at the patient’s general fitness or knowing what type of breast cancer they had….

In the United States, seniors will be the sacrificial lambs in order to control costs under Obamacare.

This is a great post.

I just emailed this post to my niece in Virginia who attempted to debate me on the merits of Obamacare just a few days ago.

HHS has placed posters throughout her neighborhood with an image of a young black woman making claims that Obamacare saved her life.

My niece was shocked when I informed her that the poster was government propaganda and even more so once I informed her that the virtues of Obamacare was based on deception.

As much as I love this young woman, I found her lack of comprehension when it comes to the deceptive tactics and rationale behind the Obama administration (HHS) dispatching such propaganda exasperating to say the least.

Informing her that she was being deceived may have been a little too much to handle but all I can do is try.

The Rio Norte Line

When I was in Panama City, my doctor suspected that I had developed sleep apnea. The NHS says:

Sleep apnea (AP-ne-ah) is a common disorder in which you have one or more pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while you sleep.

Breathing pauses can last from a few seconds to minutes. They often occur 5 to30 timesor more an hour. Typically, normal breathing then starts again, sometimes with a loud snort or choking sound.

Sleep apnea usually is a chronic (ongoing) condition that disrupts your sleep. You often move out of deep sleep and into light sleep when your breathing pauses or becomes shallow.

How long did it take to get sleep monitoring  in Panama City in the terrible, horrible, unworkable and broken American healthcare system?

Two days to get an appointment, 5 days to collect the equipment and get monitored. One week from initial diagnosis. Total.

I moved to…

HEALTH CHIEFS LEAVE CANCER WOMAN TO DIE IN AGONY

America consider yourselves forewarned.  Obama’s designs on European styled healthcare means that Americans will also endure the downside of such a system as well.  Treatments, rather lack thereof has absolutely nothing to do with the person but everything to do with politics, final costs and the bottom line.

I will say it once again.  It is bad enough for one’s insurance to ration care and treatment, but it is contemptible and abhorrent for one’s government to sign into law for implementation guidelines and regulations authorizing treatment that results in any form of rationing whereby the bottom line is a rejection of service and death sentence for its citizens.

“A WOMAN with terminal cancer has been left suffering agonising medical side-effects because penny-pinching health chiefs will not pay for her prescription drugs.

Narah Bate, 81, was recently diagnosed with a rare bone marrow cancer and given potentially life-prolonging drugs. rejection

When she developed blisters in her throat and sores on her face, the professor treating her changed the prescription.

But medicine rationing body the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) denied her the drug Imatinib saying it was too expensive and she would have to remain on hydroxycarbamide.

The ex-bookkeeper’s daughters Audrey Scoffield and Wendy Thairs were told the prescription, written by Prof Graham Smith, cost £800 a week.

Now they are battling with Nice to keep the great-grandmother’s dignity.

Audrey, 62, of Fleet, Hants, said: ‘The side-effects of this medication are so bad she had to stop taking it for a week to allow the blisters in her throat to heal. That meant a stay in hospital and a blood transfusion.

‘Now she’s having a blood transfusion almost every week. That takes up a hospital bed, using staff time. They say that Imatinib is too expensive, but treating her this way must cost more.”

The United States is supposed to be above such an approach and as for NICE, such system failure is a disgrace. Shames on you for making this woman suffer so.  How dare you play God, how dare you!

Meet the man who is going to pull the plug on granny.  Based on his zealous love affair with the NHS and the British healthcare system, Dr. Berwick promises to be a nightmare for millions of Americans.  Consider yourselves forewarned America.  Repeal Obamacare now or we will all be damned.  Delayed care equals denied care.  This is not even what the most ignorant of Americans voted for.

Obamacare is a death sentence for millions of Americans and Dr. Berwick is the hatchet man.  Men, women, children and innocent babies will die, you can count on it.

AMERICAN SPECTATOR

“While much of Washington is focused on President Obama’s Supreme Court pick, Republicans are gearing up for a confirmation battle over another Obama nominee who promises to put health care back in the spotlight.

At issue is Obama’s choice to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Donald Berwick, a Harvard professor with a self-professed love affair with Britain’s socialized health care system. In his writings and speeches, Berwick has defended government rationing and advocated centralized budget caps on health care spending.

‘Cynics beware, I am romantic about the (British) National Health Service; I love it,’ Berwick said in a July 2008 speech at England’s Wembley stadium. ‘All I need to do to rediscover the romance is to look at health care in my own country.’

While Berwick would not have the authority to impose a British health care system on the United States in one fell swoop, as head of CMS, he would be running both Medicare and Medicaid. Given that the two programs alone account for more than one out of every three dollars spent on health care in America (all government programs combined account for 47 percent), private players tend to follow CMS’s lead. Berwick himself has made this point.

‘(G)overnment is an extraordinarily important player in the American health care scene, and it has inescapable duties with respect to improvement of care, or we’re not going to get improved care,’ he said in a January 2005 interview with Health Affairs. ‘Government remains a major purchaser.… So as CMS goes and as Medicaid goes, so goes the system.’

There are two basic visions for how to contain the growth of health care spending. The free market approach would give individuals control over their health care dollars, with the idea that it would encourage more shopping that will drive down costs and increase quality as has happened in every other aspect of the consumer-based economy. But the other approach, employed by nations such as Britain, is to have the government ration care to meet a global budget.

President Obama rejected the market-based approach, and sought to drastically expand insurance coverage while reducing health care costs. But according to a report by CMS’s chief actuary, the new law will actually increase health care costs. That leaves rationing of care based on a bureaucratic notion of the common good as the remaining option for containing skyrocketing spending, and it’s an outcome that Berwick himself once predicted would be necessary to achieve universal coverage.

‘(T)he Holy Grail of universal coverage in the United States may remain out of reach unless, through rational collective action overriding some individual self-interest, we can reduce per capita costs,’ Berwick wrote in an article for Health Affairs he co-authored in 2008.

He went on to write that, ‘The hallmarks of proper financial management in a system… are government policies, purchasing contracts, or market mechanisms that lead to a cap on total spending, with strictly limited year-on-year growth targets.”
