Veterans’ Tales by Vassar Bushmills

We began this conversation a couple of weeks ago, when we pointed out that 90% of Americans have invested none of their own skin in this game that is called “Keeping America Alive.” Even my generation, the last to know the military draft, which was never natural to the American scheme of warfare anyway, and which accounts for about half of the “skin in the game” citizenry today, are now in our 60s and 70s, and will soon pass away.

Most college-aged kids, unless there’s an uncle or aunt in there somewhere who’re veterans, have never even met a veteran.

So do the math.

First Principle: With every passing generation, that 90% percentage is likely to get larger, only not because our military manpower needs may diminish, but rather because most Americans for the past 50 years have never been raised, and certainly not educated, to think of America (the-Idea) as anything special, as a thing worth clinging to or passing onto their children.

It’s not that we’ve lost our sense of gratitude–well, a little—we feel more entitled today than 50 years ago—we’re just no longer taught to appreciate the wellspring of that gratitude. American kids are no longer taught to look at any everyday product, from a cell phone to a hamburger, and connect the dots that put that phone or burger in their hand, or the money in their pocket to buy it. Money equals phone. Ever kid knows that equation. Job equals money equals phone however requires an extra dot, and many can’t connect it. Way too many Americans never have had to, as I reported only last week, in describing the growth of the trust fund babies since the 60s.

Just understand that much of what they now don’t know is purposefully denied them.

Still, it is those simple things, connecting a treasure in their lives to a foundational source, is what has always bound Americans.

In that story, above, about the ’68 Chicago Democratic Party Convention riots, I noted that there were tens of thousands of students from affluent families who had never worked, nor would ever have to, unless they could land a cush job at a non-profit, of which, today, there are thousands more than there were in ’68.

So today the size of that army of ne’er-do-wells who have to do no work numbers in the millions, and there are entire university and college departments dedicated to keeping them away from any meaningful relationship with their native country and its origins.

Moreover, if you’ve ever walked where they had been recently, at an outdoor function, a march or camp-in, you’ll also learn that they don’t treat the earth too kindly, despite what they say about protecting it; 21-year olds in their own private pigpen[…]

Every college kid remembers when he turned 21 because it was the day he could use his own drivers’ license to get into the Boom-Boom Room.

That was in the first semester of my sophomore year, 1966.

There were a lot of laws, even ancient ones, that were in place then that are no longer valid.

I’m sure you’ve heard the axiom, attributed to Churchill, “If you are not a liberal at 20, you have no heart. If you are not Conservative by 40, you have no brain”.

Now Sir Winston was aiming that at English public school boys, their version of Ivy Leaguers, and not at working class people. But American working class people did have a similar version of the same theme. Class distinctions were not the same in America, for children of working class people did go to college.

Of course this was what always distinguished Americans from the rest of the world. Even our noblest thinkers, educators and business successes had a coal miner, welder or dirt farmer in their family tree, unlike the English.

When I went off to college my dad simply warned me I’d act stupid for awhile, “so be careful”. But he wasn’t afraid of me slipping into the Boom Boom Room on a fake ID. When he turned 21 he was on a troop ship headed for North Africa, my pregnant mom back in Cincinnati at her sister’s house to wait out the war. Unlike Churchill’s class, he was more fearful that I’d fall prey to “ideas” that swam deep around college campuses, and become a Democrat, or worse, a liberal. He knew I’d bump into that sort at college, but hoped that I would reject what they taught, so that after college, I’d find a nice girl, get a job, start a family, and vote for the Barry Goldwater of my choice.

That was how it had always been once maturity, duty, and responsibility settled it, the same thing Churchill was talking about.

In 1964 we all looked the same on campus. You couldn’t tell an engineer or pre-med student from an English or poly-sci major[…]

What If? Are Chili Rellenos the Answer?

You all know by now about the assault on a swank DC Mexican Restaurant by a group of American political terrorists. The story and video are available from several sources, some sympathetic, others outraged.

This one runs over 10 minutes, providing the full scope of the “battle area”.

Rather than get your panties in a bunch about the insolence or language, which has become so common and predictable as to be ordinary anymore, from a large part of our educated youth these days, notice the rest of restaurant, and the general absence of restaurant management. Again, for over 10 minutes.

Now, WHAT IF, what if just one of those patrons had stood up, picked up his or her plate of chili rellenos, and calmly walked over to where one of the loud-mouths were standing, and face planted those chili rellenos.

In Hollywood, this is called a “show stopper”, for there is usually a pregnant pause of several seconds once some new twist of action comes from out of nowhere, and no one, no one is sure what comes next.

In the famous Peckinpah western, “Wild Bunch”, this is the perfect example, and under the circumstances, the prefect setting:

For a few second no one knows what comes next. Then all hell breaks lose.

(Spoiler alert, if you haven’t seen it, the four gringos are killed, but not before taking out all of management, and about 200 of their front line employees.)

So, back at the restaurant, here we are with a soiled would be Antifa hero, a plateful of cheese and chili stuff running down his best tee-shirt, trying to decide whether to look cool or revert to his/her 11-year old foot stomping teat fit at FAO Schwarz’s[…]

Unified Patriots by Vassar Bushmills

Yesterday, 20 April, 2018 thousands of high school students walked out of class to commemorate the mass school shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado in 1999. What students yesterday didn’t know is that April 20 is also Adolf Hitler’s birthday ort that Harris and Klebold were celebrating it. It’s all part of an April augury, April 19 being the date of the Waco massacre in 1993, followed by the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, because of it. Then, April 22 is the birthday of Lenin, the founder of the USSR, which the United States reverently remembers as Earth Day, (one of the biggest scams in American history) the Soviets announcing their messiah at the same time the American Left and environmental movement memorialized theirs.

We may come to remember this April 20 as Wart Hogg Day (since Ground- has been taken), not because Li’l David inspired it, but because this event flopped as all his other promotions have. For while thousands of students did walk out, they were all in blue cities, and almost as many parents were against it as were for it. In Chicago some schools coerced (ordered) students out, and a lawsuit has been filed even. We even found out that the governor of New York says his ancestors snuck into the United States illegally while nothing of the sort happened. The only thing fakier than Democrat spontaneity is their insincere metoo-ism[…]

The Law of Generations

The Law of Generations is a simple rule about how families in America change from one generation to the next. Unlike much of the world, because of freedoms unique to America, and the constant flow of new blood to our shores, no two generations are the same. This isn’t about genealogy. It’s about a thing we share with every other American, regardless of their station in life, from doctor, to lawyer, from rich man to poor man. For we all rose from the same sort of people. This is how many of them looked in 1940.

Besides being interesting, this will be illuminating, for the American family has shaped the development of America since the very beginning at Jamestown and Plymouth, and you need to know how that works for you and your family no matter when your First Settler came onshore.

But here I only want to walk you through a photographic essay of what your family looked like in 1940, when your great grandparents were no older than you are, and your own parents mere gleams in their eyes. I am quite sure none of you can believe these sort of people are among your ancestors, only 75 years ago, but they are.

We all live in three-generation worlds made up of child-parent-and grand parents. At 20 you’re still the child at the front of that equation. But as you grow to have children, your grandparents drop out of the family memory book, and the three-generation process re-starts with you now in the middle as the parent than in the front as the kid.

What is most often lost is that fourth generation, the great grandparents, for very few children have any memory of them. So I want to give you a peek at what your great grandparents looked liked, and your grandparents as children, and the sorts of lives they lived in 1940. The choices weren’t as wide and varied as they would soon become.

I know that for 20-something Millenniasls thinking in terms of quarter- or half-centuries is like studying ancient history. But your own family’s ancient history is found in these photos, and if you search around, you will find similar photos buried away in family albums at home that no one bothers to look at anymore, since all the people in them have passed away. You should be interested in them, and begin to consider just what sort of history will be in your own children’s backpack as they grow up and finally move out to be on their own.

For 2016 Millennials these third and fourth generations are the real kickers, simply because of the unbelievable changes that occurred in America between 1940 and 1975. My grandfather was born in 1897, and died in 1971. In our last conversation he told me the greatest thing he ever witnessed in his lifetime was the building of the Panama Canal, which covered an entire section in my high school history book in 1960. An engineering marvel in its day, I doubt it even earned passing mention in your modern history books.

This is from a small farm town in New Mexico, 1940. Their name was Caudill, typical small farmers, they were probably in their 30′s here. It was a hard life[…]

Why News About Republicans and Angry Red Diaper Baby Bernie Is Very Bad

Unfortunately the odds are high that the same stupid American voters who elected Barack Obama in 2008 and then again in 2012 based on the color of his skin and who today are suffering the repercussions of their actions have learned nothing.

Proving their ignorance yet again, the same low information voters will vote for Hillary Clinton because she is a woman or Bernie Sanders because the slogan, “feel the Bern” is cool.

All that and the promise of free stuff…again.

Independent Sentinel by S. Noble

bernie sanders crazy

Democrats are reluctant to admit they would support the Socialist/Communist candidate Bernie Sanders but that doesn’t mean they won’t.

Barack Obama is promising freebies to college students again. He just announced a $2 billion dollar wish list for college students and that gives a boost to Bernie Sanders, not necessarily Hillary. Bernie Sanders is doing the same thing – promising free college to the youth. This does make them both very popular with the young but it’s hard to beat Bernie when it comes to free everything.

As Hillary Clinton moves closer to an implosion, it is Bernie Sanders who Obama will probably support. They’re both Marxists.

Despite being a creepy, aged Communist, Bernie Sanders has a real shot at the presidency and this is why[…]
