Anyone, anywhere, who hears the name “America” already has a first impression about America; either positive or negative. It doesn’t matter if he/she is 18 or 80, and located anywhere in the world.

If abroad those impressions are a mixture of street talk, music, films, and of course, relatives who may have traveled there or live. One man from one village can go to America, and everyone in that valley has a impression of America that no government can conceal.

I knew such a family from Dayton whose father had come to America from a village in Slovakia before WWII, taking work in a steel mill. He left a wife and son back home. Just before the war he went back to bring his wife to America. But he had to leave his 6-year old behind with relatives to secure the family lands. Once in America, Papa and Mama Miluks started a new family, his youngest son my best friend for many years from the Army. In the late 1970s, while on duty in Germany, he was allowed to travel to Slovakia and meet his eldest brother and see the village and old home place, and of course, take gifts. When I visited his family in Dayton Mama Miluks showed me the special place she kept all her letters from her son, who she had not seen since 1940. But those letters! She wrote many-paged reports every week for over 40 years, giving a weekly account of things going on with his papa and brothers and sister, learning quickly to never speak of certain things, for by ’46 the Communists had moved in and her letters were first read and redacted by postal censors, cutting all references to the availability of consumer goods commonly available in America, especially food. Her son, in turn, would reply with heavily redacted letters. He would die in the early 1990’s of the general poor heath common to socialist countries so was never able to join his family. He never met his other two younger brothers or sister. And of course his last personal memory of his parents was when he was 6.

But I am quite sure every adult in that village had clear impressions of America because of Mr Miluks, who went to America.

I tell this story because one, it’s true, and two, it is, next to the Christian’s ideal of Heaven, an impression of America as a place that one has never been and most wants to go, which cannot be duplicated anywhere else. I have met people in several countries and four continents, including Palestinian Arabs (on an overnight sleeper in Russia) and from all I hear basically the same thing, “If only I could go to America.”

(This is not what we are seeing today on our southern border, by the way, so I won’t take this discussion in that direction, although just 30-40 years ago, down there, where I also lived, this was a common refrain, “If I can only get to America.” I deal with this subject in an upcoming conversation about Assimilation, which should be a topic of policy discussion if we can ever get fully in charge or our government again.)

So, abroad, America is viewed through two entirely different prisms, divided by two classes: 1) the political class and 2) all the rest[…]

A Tale of Two Mobs: A Study Lesson

Since 2006 I’d watched Republicans, including many conservatives, fed up with Party choices going back to Bob Dole in ‘96, hand our government over to first the Congressional Democrats, then, even after the Democrat’s dark side had revealed itself, still refuse to stop the bleeding.

I thought perhaps that Obama and the clear intentions of his brand of Leftism might jerk a knot in this sort of petty arrogance. But apparently not. As we described at the time (2015-2016), part of the allure of Donald Trump was the result of the people’s search for someone who can bring back to the fold those legions who were shown the door after Ronald Reagan left in 1989, at least 2-3 million of them. More it turns out.

By 2010 the common folk had seen critical freedoms slip away while the faux-conservatives who live inside their nor’east bubble believed life to be safe and secure, and that there will always be that next election, when hope would spring again that their next Tom Dewey would come riding over the horizon and rescue at least their part of the Republic…sort of like how the French nobility in 1793 believed they could ride out yet another of the uprisings of the peasantry that had been going on since the 14th Century.

Turns out they had not accounted for the invisible hand behind the Mob.

Since the American Left is not a potted plant, and our freedoms not self-protecting, this is where I leave Donald Trump and remind you about certain natural law realities and what lay ahead unless the people re-secure those truths we all, once upon a time, believed to be self-evident.

For we may be compelled to meet the Mob head-on…without benefit of clergy.

“God said a fire, not a flood next time…”

(from “Well. Well, Well,” old Negro spiritual)

I’m not Ann Coulter’s biggest fan. But it’s only a matter of style. We are separated by 25 years of a kind of snark that doesn’t come easy to me. But she does expose liberalism for what it is. In Demonic, How the Liberal Mob is Endangering America, she lays out a notion that is important for all of us to understand, for the ideal of the Mob transcends liberalism.

It’s not liberals I want to discuss here.

It’s us, for the idea of “the Mob” is a two-headed coin, for while we are about to confront a Mob now, we must also consider the second Mob that will likely arise from our children, should we fail.

You see, Ann Coulter uses as a launching point for her study the French Revolution and Terror, 1793-94.  That’s just seven years after we embraced the U S Constitution, and just twelve years after the French monarchy (about to be shaved) helped us set ourselves free from another monarchy-enemy of theirs. (It was nothing more than a family fight, so don’t read too much into it.)

The Reign of Terror was defined by a guiding influence. It wasn’t just a big riot. The Committee for Public Safety and Citizen Robespierre, “encouraged” the French mob to first track down, then tie up and bring to ‘”trial” and finally, cheer and escort up the steps to meet the National Razor, an estimated 40,000 undeserving rich people in an era when they really were undeserving[…]

Unified Patriots by Vassar Bushmills

I’m not sure who first used this title, and it may even have been me, in 2009, when I wrote a short essay on “Homer Simpson and the Constitution” at RedState.com The line had nothing to do with the content of the essay, and the content of the essay flew way over the head of the editors there, for it argued that all American have the most common of forbearers, and we should pay attention to the lesser in our society for we all arose from that very same stock.

It was one of my “never take yourself too seriously” inquiries which is rejected out-of-hand by two generations now. It’s like me telling Jonah Goldberg that in some small junior college in Georgia there is likely a student there from a farm family near Waycross who is as well read and has a wiser understanding of American history and its underlying philosophy than he does.

Of course there is, and thousands more, only they will never be heard.

It was about humility and gratitude.

I think it was Mark Twain who first used “reformed whores”, probably in a piece having to do with the early history of California after the Gold Rush at Sutter’s Mill. Twain arrived there a decade later, when San Francisco was only a pup, so  he had more firsthand knowledge of its founding Pilgrim families than most.

San Francisco has always liked to view itself as the Boston-of-the-West-Coast, the home of the Founding Pilgrims of California. And in comparison with Los Angeles they may have a point.

But the joke going around when Mark Twain visited was that Nob Hill, the wealthiest and most blue-blood neighborhood of Bay Area aristocracy, far more than the nouveau riche properties of Pacific Heights where Lady Di lives, was originally settled by got-rich miners and the whores they took as brides.

This is where the phrase, “there’s nothing so self-righteous as a reformed whore” comes from, for it’s true, former prostitutes were very anxious to wipe away that social stain.

And let me tell you, no Mayflower grand dame highbrow could ever match these 24-carat dowagers on Nob Hill for that perfect down-the-nose self-righteous sense of privilege.

But I’m not making fun here. On the contrary, for America is unique in world history for its ability to produce this sort of cultural phenomenon. We had no royalty so a kind of royalty sprung up just by being there first.

In Europe a self-educated man from the lower classes might rise to the rank of being able to manage a prince’s finances(Bob Cratchit) but lower class women could not even dream of bathing and squeezing pimples on Elizabeth I’s shoulders, and only the most elegantly educated in the salons of Paris could rise to the rank of courtesan (kept woman, er, whore) such as Milady de Winter.

But here in America a girl of 19 in our first century could barely get a bath once a week, and barely a change of underwear, yet she could strike it rich by meeting a man who struck it rich and then get to bathe in a gold tub by 30.

Or maybe she would only marry a man who world build the only granary within fifty miles. BY Nebraska standards, rich.

I think it was me who added the “Lawyers Wives” to the title, for that was how I saw many of them when I graduated from law school, for they carried the same sort of reflected glory of status in their husbands’ careers.. Very socially-conscious. Since my wife had shared beers with prostitutes in Tokyo, at a CIA front called Manos, she was less insecure of her status. I recall, at a dinner while sitting with another captain and his wife, she blurted out “Wayne could have been a doctor, but he chose law instead.” My wife looked at me, then Wayne, and no doubt tried to imagine me taking the medical school boards, and just fell out in uncontrollable laughter[…]

How did I miss this five years ago?

We’ve been writing “dark alley” posts for several years now, telling readers they can blight the path of the Left; in government, in education, colleges and university.

Our rule was just don’t do physical damage (maybe a bloody nose) and harm any animal.

Misdemeanors. It was minimal risk if you got caught, but the idea was to not get caught because even in 2011 we knew the Left was organizing strong-arm brigades, especially in blue cities where they knew they could get away with it, and would do to you what you would never do to them, if they only knew where you lived.

They arose from the OCCUPY MOVEMENT, but it was just a matter of time before they would go full-throttle anarchist, which really does satisfy the inner needs of a large portion of a generation who could tear up an entire toy aisle at Toy R’Us  without actually suffering any consequences. Their misbehavior was always indemnified.

God only knows how many kittens and bunny rabbits in their neighborhoods were tortured and murdered.

Face-to-face, one-on-one, they aren’t very good or dangerous, but like most predators they like to separate the weak from the herd, old people, the helpless, the outnumbered,

then satisfy those inner. Not wholly unlike rapists.

These scenes are similar to many others you’ve seen.

Portland has been a hotbed lately, but expect it to move east…but still to hospitable places where the cops will not hit back…and let the rich kids have their way with car windows, even their own squad cars, and downtown store windows[…]

Da Mob, a Look at Democrat Party Election Practices…

Unified Patriots by Vassar Bushmills

I read enough to know that most people believe the Democrat Party acts like a criminal gang, but still won’t draw an image in their minds as to just how a criminal gang works.

I’m going to give you some leads here, and then, no matter where you live, red-blue, urban-suburban-rural, I suggest you sit down with other friends and begin to war-game just exactly what the criminal wing of the Democrat Party might try to do to steal or suppress votes in your area in the 2018 and 2020 elections.

Forget media advertising, that’s mostly background noise; an artillery barrage before the ground assault. It rarely determines the outcome of an election. Donald Trump proved all the media money in the world can’t help if they don’t have a powerful message.

Your county could be 90% blue, or 90% red, no matter, there are people there who are paid to steal 5, 500, or 5000 votes in any way they can. What should matter to you most is they are not volunteers. They are paid and everyone has some sort of quota to meet; like a traffic cop.

All I can try to do here is to get you to adopt the proper frame of mind about this Mob. You have to think like a mobster…a small-time mobster, working at the front end, like Vinnie and Augie, whose primary job back in the Chicago protection rackets days, was to go into small businesses up and down the street, and squeeze the shop-owner for the Mob’s end of their monthly revenue.

Democrats squeeze a lot more than you know.

Trust me, they’re there. Only you will likely never know who they are by name.

What I want you to do is learn to think like them, so you can know how their system works, who answers to who. just so you can picture in your mind an accurate situation analysis, as they see it.

Every great general knew what his opposing general knew about his own assets, especially his limitations, and then used his troops to go after those vital weaknesses. Democrats are very knowledgeable about Republican’s weaknesses, especially the things we won’t do; fight dirty, kick a man when he’s down, Marquis of Queensbury sorts of things.

Knowing matters.

Just try to think like a mobster in the 20’s, who were almost all first generation immigrants. They stated out as gangs but ended up as vertical criminal enterprises, by a simple Darwin formula of survival of the fittest[…]

“Adultery”, per Radar O’Reilly

Anyone under 40 will not remember, and certainly find no modern relevance in Radar O’Reilly, played by Gary Burghoff in the M.A.S.H. TV series, 1972-1983. He was a 20-something corporal in an Army surgical hospital unit in the Korean War. It was a comedy.

Everyone else in the camp was older than Radar, who was straight off the farm in Iowa, a true innocent.

A comedy that hasn’t weathered all that well with age, MASH re-runs are still available on some cable networks, and YouTube, but after 35 years, Radar is the only character that has maintained his meaning in world that has otherwise passed that kind of story-telling by.

It was Radar who coined the term “adultery” to refer to mature people, grown up’s, who probably in his world, were still in their 30s’, such as the surgeons and an old crusty camp commander who appeared to be over 60. He looked up to them and learned from them. People had to grow more quickly in those days, and can still be found among the military veteran community, which is why we should treat them better and listen to them more intently.

So, I wonder if Radar’s adult-equation would work out so well today?

You see, JFK had only been dead 7 years when the film version of MASH debuted. And JFK, the president of the United States, had been only 46 when he was shot, and 43 when he was elected.

A decorated war hero, Lieutenant Kennedy commanded several PT-boats in the Pacific War, having one sunk from under him. He was 26 at the time. So no one thought he was a kid when he was elected in 196o. He was only young[…]
