For almost everyone who pops up in the news, I have a general theory of that person, beginning with how they got in the news in the first place.

If WAPO or New York Times said something approvingly about them, my starting point is likely to be a minus -1. Disapprovingly? Plus +1. The media is my built-in bias meter.

But that bias can quickly be corrected if it turns out that what WAPO or NYT said was factually true. It would not change my overall opinion about either of them unless they actually got the facts right several times in a row, which indicate they may have changed their bias on a given subject.

Neither have in over 50 years.

A personal Theory of a Man or Woman is not something you generally publish. It’s an internal mechanism to remind yourself that there are rules of critical thinking, as opposed to giving over to raw emotion. It’s a reminder of who you are, not who an updated Donald Trump or Mitch McConnell is. You’d be surprised at how many so-called conservative writers have never engaged in this simple practice. It should be a regular as morning prayers. Only those under 45 don’t even know it exists.

I did a complete-180 on one Theory of a Man I had, in 2013, when hall of fame conservative George Will came down to Virginia on behalf of one of his life-long employers, WAPO, to do a hit piece on Ken Cuccinelli, in his race for governor against the unindicted Clinton skid-greaser, Terry McAuliffe. No fan of the Democrats, mind you, Will put his support behind an empty-suit Libertarian (these are easy to hire in any state election D’s think can be made closer). and indeed Rob Sarvis was the difference maker in that election. This allowed Will to come out of the closet about religion, allowing that Christians, (Cuccinelli is Roman Catholic) are worse even than the Left’s atheism, with which George Will agrees.

My theory about George Will, totally flipped, so I am de-e-elighted to see that just by Donald Trump living and breathing in the White House, George Will rarely draws a “Theory of the Man” consideration by anyone anymore. Irrelevant.

Every person should have a “theory of the man” process embedded in their minds. For one, it’s a shield against raw emotion, and the high degree of probability that our emotions can cause us to say or do something irrational that will cause other people to alter their theory of us[…]

The Abortion Gulag and the Law

From a political fad in 2016, to a trend after the 2018 mid-terms, Infanticide has become a full blown rallying cry for Democrats around blue state America. Our Lady Penguin laid this development bare just a few days ago in her “a murder by any other name is still murder” expose of the new Infanticide law in New York, and the effort by other states, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and Virginia to get on the Execution train even before it’s left the station.

No one can say in  prose what every moral human in America must feel about this outrage better than Lady Penguin. So read it.

I’ll only speak to the speed with this band-wagon effect has developed, meaning that the Left has taken full leave of its moral senses (killing babies) without any forthought about what killing babies really means.

If you want a 3-minute mind-picture of just what killing babies is like, I offer this testimony of a now-reformed New York abortion doctor, Dr Lavatino, who describes a second tri-mester abortion in detail. (I know, it’s not how you had it pictured. “Hey, there’s a real person in there, a real breathing baby”…and a doctor has to take that child out piece-by-piece and stack its parts up like cordwood to make sure they got everything. Probably not even most of the foot-stomping “absolute right to do whatever I want with my body” shriekers know that’s how it’s done, or that some clinics now have on-staff nurses whose sole purpose is to muffle the crying sounds of the victim, just so everyone in the room can walk out guilt-free. How medieval.

It’s not just the lies the abortion industry has to tell its victims just to get them into the surgery, but worse, the extraordinary lengths they will go to disguise to themselves, actually self-hypnotize, the barbarism they are committing, even as they commit it.

I’ll guarantee no young pregnant about-to-abort mother has ever pictured her fully-formed 22-week old baby dying this way…for she wouldn’t be there if she did.

Still this reflects an intentional kind of self-delusion that begins with someone else, somewhere else. People behind the curtain. Both the Nazis and Soviets went to great length to pass “those who were about to die’ through several levels of paper-pushing and hand-stamping so that only a handful of men and women would actually come away with blood on their hands. Everyone else had some level of deniability  and conscience assuaging available to them[…]

Target: Not the President, but the Presidency

The argument is often made that First Amendment protections means we can’t do anything about the Media.

Well, yes and no.

You see, the Media is a Thing, just as a corporation is a Thing, the FBI is a Thing. You know what I’m saying. Liars, traitors, criminals of every stripe, are people…with names and faces, and dozens of personal weaknesses, even addictions.

And this ‘Thing’ is protected by the First Amendment.

You can sue a corporation, but you can’t put it in jail. You can bring criminal charges against a corporation, but then you have to dig way deep to find the individual “trigger finger” that did it. Then you have to make sure you can prove your case and not convict a fall-guy, which large organizations are filled with.

Finding the genuinely guilty is often very difficult to prove and teams of lawyers are there to try to blight your path every step of the way.

And for the Media, the First Amendment is there to blight your path almost every step of the way, generally beginning in 1971.

These days, the most difficult task is to simply know what is actually a crime, or civilly, an actionable injury, or tort, since the law makes so many exemptions, especially for the Media.

In the 1971, New York Times v United States, (the famous Pentagon Papers trial) the Supreme Court ruled that the NYT was protected by the First Amendment.

All that was sought in that case was an injunction, stopping the publication of a “classified” history of the United States involvement in SE Asia going back to the Eisenhower Days.

Virtually no one even knows what that history revealed, probably more damaging to the Democrats than the Republicans on the history end, but more damaging to The Republicans politically since, by 1971, Vietnam was Nixon’s War, and the leftwing media wanted to hang that war around his and the GOP’s neck, which they effectively did. Most Millennials believe he started it, and lost it.

In 1971, CNN was still almost a decade away from being born, and the founders of Buzzfeed’s fathers were still in college, their sons but gleams in their eyes. Besides the Pentagon Papers case said nothing about Fake News, or the malicious intent to do injury. No lies were involved in the passing by Daniel Ellsburg of the Papers to an NYT reporter named Neil Shaheen.

Ellsburg was indicted under the federal law for giving Shaheen the Papers in 1973, but his case was dismissed for misconduct by the Nixon DOJ five months later, and three years after SCOTUS allowed the NYT to publish the Papers[…]

“Alleged”, a brief History

To younger students, one of the reasons it’s nice to keep old people around is we can tell you the origins of things that are common in your world, only how it got here, you may have missed, but which might be relevant in the deeper lessons of life you’re always instructing us in. (Insert Ocasio-Cortez joke here.)

I never thought of this as ancient history, but I was a high school senior, in the school auditorium for a pep rally…state high school championship, and I was the starting left end…when the vice principal walked in and took the podium and quietly said “the President has been shot”.

Just as my parents knew exactly where they were on December 7, 1941 my generation knew exactly where we were when we heard that JFK had been shot, November 22, 1963.

The good news is that 77 years later the whole nation still pauses to remember that awful day in 1941, even better, while no longer blaming any Japanese person living today for it. But November 22nd scarcely gets a second thought, much less a moment of silence, even though most of the young people who were alive then and worshipped JFK most, are still alive today.

This is because the thrill with JFK has long since passed.

A good man nonetheless, today his party gets embarrassed when we remind them that once upon a time their party also had a president who was patriotic, loved America, was a war hero, and a free-market advocate.

But then again, once upon a time, that wasn’t anything special for any American.

So, I’m quite certain that when the last person dies who can remember where he/she was on November 22, 1963, John F Kennedy and the whole Kennedy name will quietly slip below the waves of cultural memory and sink, without any help from historians, media or social commentary. Unlike the last Confederate veteran who died in 1951, there will be no one to plat “Taps” in his memory, or to reflect that even the “woman in black”, who laid flowers at Rudolph Valentino’s grave until she died in 1984, stayed her course longer. Even the eternal flame that a worshipful Nation laid at JFK’s grave in 1967 will eventually go out, then maybe not be relit, since no one will recall why it was lit in the first place[…]

A Tale of Two Mobs: A Study Lesson

Since 2006 I’d watched Republicans, including many conservatives, fed up with Party choices going back to Bob Dole in ‘96, hand our government over to first the Congressional Democrats, then, even after the Democrat’s dark side had revealed itself, still refuse to stop the bleeding.

I thought perhaps that Obama and the clear intentions of his brand of Leftism might jerk a knot in this sort of petty arrogance. But apparently not. As we described at the time (2015-2016), part of the allure of Donald Trump was the result of the people’s search for someone who can bring back to the fold those legions who were shown the door after Ronald Reagan left in 1989, at least 2-3 million of them. More it turns out.

By 2010 the common folk had seen critical freedoms slip away while the faux-conservatives who live inside their nor’east bubble believed life to be safe and secure, and that there will always be that next election, when hope would spring again that their next Tom Dewey would come riding over the horizon and rescue at least their part of the Republic…sort of like how the French nobility in 1793 believed they could ride out yet another of the uprisings of the peasantry that had been going on since the 14th Century.

Turns out they had not accounted for the invisible hand behind the Mob.

Since the American Left is not a potted plant, and our freedoms not self-protecting, this is where I leave Donald Trump and remind you about certain natural law realities and what lay ahead unless the people re-secure those truths we all, once upon a time, believed to be self-evident.

For we may be compelled to meet the Mob head-on…without benefit of clergy.

“God said a fire, not a flood next time…”

(from “Well. Well, Well,” old Negro spiritual)

I’m not Ann Coulter’s biggest fan. But it’s only a matter of style. We are separated by 25 years of a kind of snark that doesn’t come easy to me. But she does expose liberalism for what it is. In Demonic, How the Liberal Mob is Endangering America, she lays out a notion that is important for all of us to understand, for the ideal of the Mob transcends liberalism.

It’s not liberals I want to discuss here.

It’s us, for the idea of “the Mob” is a two-headed coin, for while we are about to confront a Mob now, we must also consider the second Mob that will likely arise from our children, should we fail.

You see, Ann Coulter uses as a launching point for her study the French Revolution and Terror, 1793-94.  That’s just seven years after we embraced the U S Constitution, and just twelve years after the French monarchy (about to be shaved) helped us set ourselves free from another monarchy-enemy of theirs. (It was nothing more than a family fight, so don’t read too much into it.)

The Reign of Terror was defined by a guiding influence. It wasn’t just a big riot. The Committee for Public Safety and Citizen Robespierre, “encouraged” the French mob to first track down, then tie up and bring to ‘”trial” and finally, cheer and escort up the steps to meet the National Razor, an estimated 40,000 undeserving rich people in an era when they really were undeserving[…]

Unified Patriots by Vassar Bushmills

When his turn came to talk, had Brett Kavanaugh walked out to his desk, sat his notes down, then walked around the table and walked up to Dick Durbin and popped him square on the nose, he couldn’t have made his case more masterful.

He took off the gloves, which in the Republican world of Washington, no one ever considered an option anymore.

It’s Thursday, October 4. and the shock of the way Brett Kavanaugh made his case on Thursday, September 28, has still not worn off.

By Sunday, the Democrats were clearly no longer on offense. Kavanaugh was no longer an attempted rapist, a serious felony offender justifying many years in prison, (I’ve defended just such cases) but now a drunk…including some talk of being a bar brawler. Without using a shillelagh (stick) or driving a car recklessly, we’re now only talking about a misdemeanor, where jail time is rare indeed. Certainly no more punishment than Code Pink or Antifa gets for breaking up a congressional hearing.

Yes, though Kavanaugh has dropped from a felony rapist to a college kid who got loaded every weekend…but who always seemed to still get straight A’s anyway for seven straight years…and not those crip courses over in the Sociology Department either…the Democrats are still trying to keep the alleged violence of that original assault claim by portraying him as a violent drinker[…]
