Do-Do Bird, James Clapper Bungles it Again – This time on the Muslim Brotherhood

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper got it wrong again, this time it was his description of the Muslim Brotherhood which pretty much boiled down to “Whom are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?”

“The term ‘Muslim Brotherhood’…is an umbrella term for a variety of movements, in the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried Al Qaeda as a perversion of Islam…”

“They have pursued social ends, a betterment of the political order in Egypt, et cetera…..In other countries, there are also chapters or franchises of the Muslim Brotherhood, but there is no overarching agenda, particularly in pursuit of violence, at least internationally.”

My gosh, is everyone connected to the Obama administration so damned dysfunctional.

Of course, Megyn Kelly wastes not a minute setting the record straight.

Clapper is the same individual who was caught off guard last December 2010 in a Diane Sawyer interview, in the company of Janet Napolitano and John Brennan.  When Sawyer queried Clapper about the London terrorist arrests that took place the morning of the interview, Clapper was clueless dumbstruck.  See video below:

As usual shortly after today’s faux pas, the Obama administration rushed to clean up the boondoggle.

“To clarify Director Clapper’s point, in Egypt the Muslim Brotherhood makes efforts to work through a political system that has been, under Mubarak’s rule, one that is largely secular in its orientation. He is well aware that the Muslim Brotherhood is not a secular organization,’ DNI spokesperson Jamie Smith said.

While the Brotherhood has renounced violence, one of its goals is to pursue the creation of an Islamic state. The CIA’s own website lists the Brotherhood as a ‘religious-based’ party.

Clapper’s claim quickly drew scrutiny on Capitol Hill, even before his office walked back the statement.

‘I am concerned that the DNI’s assessment does not agree with recent public statements by senior leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood nor does it agree with the organization’s publicly stated goals,’ Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., said in a written statement, describing the group as ‘radical.’

‘They’re as secular as Billy Graham and the pope are secular,’ former GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said.”

This American is unwilling to wait for James Clapper’s third strike.  Since we need to cut the budget, let us start with James Clapper.  Clapper should resign immediately and if his dysfunctional a$$ refuses, FIRE HIM!  He is the perfect example of too many cooks spoiling the stew.

Members of the Center for Security Policy’s TEAM B II.  In the following video, both individuals dance around the dangers of jihad.   Clapper explains the need to be sensitive and not use certain terms because said terms might offend Muslims. The Three Stooges, John Brennan, Senior Counterterrorism Advisor, Janet “364 days” Napolitano, Secretary of Homeland Security and James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence, equals Obamafail.

There is a “lot of chatter.” Of course, there is Janet 364 days Napolitano.  You do not have to be Homeland Security or a rocket scientist to know that there is a “lot of chatter.” There is always chatter and this being the most wonderful time of the year, Islamic fanatics are stepping up their game.

“The White House counterterrorism adviser acknowledged Wednesday that the reason the nation’s top intelligence official was stumped on an interview question two days ago about a major set of terror arrests in Great Britain was because his staff hadn’t told him about it.

Adviser John Brennan said that Director of National Intelligence James Clapper should have been kept abreast of the situation and that ‘steps’ are being taken to ensure he’s not kept in the dark on such significant developments in the future. But Brennan defended Clapper, calling him the ‘consummate DNI.’

Brennan explained that on the day of the interview in which Clapper stumbled, he was too busy handling tension on the Korean peninsula and congressional negotiations over a nuclear treaty with Russia to pick up on widespread reporting about the arrest of 12 men allegedly involved in an Al Qaeda-inspired plot to attack targets in Britain.

‘There was breathless attention by the media about these arrests and it was constantly on the news networks,’ Brennan told reporters. ‘I’m glad that Jim Clapper is not sitting in front of the TV 24 hours a day and monitoring what’s coming out of the media. What he is doing is focusing on those intelligence issues the president expects him to focus on….’ “

Everyone knew about this week’s arrest in Great Britain except our Director of National Intelligence himself.

The keywords here are “…widespread reporting about the arrest of 12 men allegedly involved in an Al Qaeda-inspired plot to attack targets in Britain….”

Indeed there was “widespread reporting,” yet in spite of the “widespread reporting,” Clapper was totally oblivious.  As the story goes, it is because Clapper was focused on Korea and the congressional negotiations surrounding the START treaty.

Translation:  These people are incapable of walking and chewing gum at the same time.

Moreover, Clapper came off as if he had dropped the ball, but to his benefit, he was in good company.  Still, it is unacceptable, an embarrassment and according to the Obama administration, Sawyer’s question was “profound and multi-dimensional.” Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside doesn’t it America?
