~ “I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts.” Ronald Reagan.
The world, and especially the EU was shocked at the brutality the Spanish government used in an attempt to suppress a referendum on the independence of Catalonia. The paramilitary Guardia Civil was particularly brutal as they invaded polling places. Over 800 people were reported injured as well as a dozen of so Guardia:
Catalonia is the extreme northeast of Spain. It consists of four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona. The capital and largest city is Barcelona.
Catalonia was originally an independent principality with its own language and culture. That ended after the War of Spanish Secession in 1714, when Catalonia picked the wrong horse, Spain was essentially united by the Bourbon Philip V of Spain and Catalan was replaced on all legal documents with Castilian Spanish.
But Catalonia has remained something of a separate part of Spain, with a unique culture. During the Spanish Civil War, Catalonia, which had socialist movements as an important part of its politics dating back to the mid 19th century sided with the Republic against Franco, which again led to a certain amount of repression when Franco won, including abolishing Catalan institutions and banning the official use of the Catalan language again. Things eased up in the latter part of Franco’s rule, and considerably more after Franco died in 1975.
The current independence movement started in 2014, and the current referendum proceeded as planned by Catalonia’s regional government even after Spain’s courts declared that the referendum was illegal. Proponents of Catalonia’s independence say they won, while Spain says otherwise since in their point of view the entire referendum was illegal[…]

Islam, the religion of peace, is on a roll this Palm Sunday with the Islamic State taking credit for bomb blasts of Coptic Christian churches in Egypt as parishioners celebrated Palm Sunday.
The first Islamic terrorist attack occurred in St George’s Coptic Church in Tanta, north of Cairo in which 26 people were killed and 100 plus wounded.
The second Islamic terrorist attach which occurred a few hours later occurred at St Mark’s Coptic Church in Alexandria where the casualties are 11 dead and 66 wounded.
…Officials said the blast at St George’s church happened “in the front rows, near the altar, during the mass”.
Horrifying footage and images posted on social media appears to show the aftermath as crowds gathered around dead bodies and large blood stains on the pews and church walls.
The explosions come as Coptic worshippers gathered for the celebrations of Palm Sunday – the Sunday before Easter, which marks the start of Holy Week for Christians.
Provincial governor Ahmad Deif told state-run Nile TV channel: “Either a bomb was planted or someone blew himself up.”
A witness told the Reuters news agency: “There was a huge explosion in the hall. Fire and smoke filled the room and the injuries were extremely severe.
“I saw the intestines of those injured and legs severed entirely from their bodies”[…]
15:20 Al-Ahram Arabic news website reports that Gharbiya governorate security chief Hossam El-Din Khalifa has been relieved of duty after the church attack in Tanta left dozens dead and injured on Sunday.
15:17 The health ministry updated the death toll in the attack on the Mar Gigis Church in Tanta to 27. The number of injured stands at 78.
This puts the combined death toll from the Tanta and Alexandria attacks at 45.
15:00 Death toll in Alexandria cathedral bombing reaches 18, Health Minister Ahmed Emad tells ON TV news channel.
14:50 The IS group claimed responsibility, through their social media affiliate accounts, for Sunday’s churches’ explosions in Egypt, which left at least 36 dead and dozens injured in both Nile Delta’s Tanta and the coastal city of Alexandria.
14:30 Egypt’s interior ministry has issued a statement about the Alexandria attack: they say a suicide bomber had planned to blow up himself using an explosive belt inside the church, but the security force assigned to protect the cathedral stopped him.
The interior ministry also said that Pope Tawadros was inside the cathedral leading the prayers in the Palm Sunday service, but that he was not harmed in the attack.
A police officer and a policewoman, as well a low-ranking police officer, were killed while preventing the suicide bomber from entering the cathedral, the ministry said[…]

Young Kayla Mueller, a humanitarian aid worker was kidnapped in 2013 after accompanying a friend hired by Doctors without Borders to install communications equipment for a hospital in Aleppo, Syria.
Around the first week of February, 2015, Kayla’s parents received news of their daughter’s death and later upon their request confirmation of Kayla’s death courtesy of the Islamic State, i.e., three photographs of Kayla’s corpse.
In spite of her pleas and that of her family, Doctors without Borders and other organizations informed the family that the responsibility to secure Kayla’s freedom was that of the United States government.
Even more chilling is the statement and lack of remorse by the leadership of Doctors without Borders who blame the 24-year-old for being taken hostage, a fate that ended with her death. – see video below.
It should be noted that Doctors without Borders put others at risk by intentionally dispatching uninformed staffers to the same high risk areas.
Many of the staffers were captured by ISIS and taken hostage, some of whom were women and unknowingly walked into the same trap as Kayla Mueller. Again, Doctors with Borders shows no remorse.
According to the Muellers, the FBI and the Obama administration who bartered five Taliban leaders for deserter, Bowe Bergdahl, blocked all prospects of ransom to secure their daughter’s freedom threatening the Muellers with prosecution.
Daniel Rye Ottosen, a Danish freelance photographer, recalled how Mueller was paraded in front of the other prisoners as an example by ISIS butcher Jihadi John.
Ottosen said the terrorist, who real name was Mohammed Emwazi, told the captives: ‘She is much stronger than you guys. She’s much smarter. She converted to Islam.’
Interrupting her captors, Ottosen recalls Kayla saying: ‘No I didn’t.’
He added: ‘I would not have had the guts to say that. I don’t think so.
‘It was very clear that all of us were impressed by the strength that she showed in front of us. That was very clear….’
In an excerpt which ran this morning on Good Morning America of an ABC 20/20 Special airing tonight (Friday, 8/26) at 10 p.m., Kayla’s father, Carl Mueller, delivered a message to Obama: “I’m still waiting for that donation, Mr. President.”
Below is the proof of life video that ISIS sent to the Mueller’s one month after Kayla was taken hostage followed by this morning’s Good Morning America report.
ABC News always running defense.
First of all, Barack Obama did not go to Arizona to console the Muellers. The PRIMARY purpose of his trip to Phoenix, Arizona was to participate in a round table discussion about how to improve services at VA hospitals. While in Phoenix, Obama met up with the Muellers.
Obama’s speedy trip made for several photo ops along with the fact that 17 months later, the liar in chief (a) has reneged on his pledge to donate to a charity foundation in Kayla Mueller’s name; and (b) nothing has changed at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Between the endless red tape and constant denial of service, VA hospitals continue to fail our veterans.
Case in point, 76-year-old military veteran, Peter Kaisen who was turned away this past weekend when he sought emergency care at Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Long Island, New York.
The hostages were given a test by their ISIS tormentors: recite verses from the Quran, or be punished. Those who passed were given food. Those who failed were slaughtered. Three American students were slaughtered.
The ISIS terrorists who slaughtered 20 foreign hostages inside a Bangladeshi café spared those who could recite passages from the Koran — and the gunmen even made sure their pious prisoners were well fed during the tense, 10-hour standoff[…]

But how dare the world call what happened in Bangladesh at the hands of Islamic savages by its name, ISLAMIC TERRORISM, JIHAD.
While Barack Obama is so busy attacking Donald Trump, the Islamic State is heralding Omar Mateen, the Orlando Florida Islamic terrorist as a lion and making Obama look more like the collaborator-in-chief and a damned fool.
The Islamic State says it is ready to target major cities in the United States. The warning came in a video published this week by ISIS supporters, in the wake of the Orlando massacre , which the organization said it carried out. “The infidels of crusade America will no longer have security or comfort,” says the narrator.“ New York, Orlando, Washington and other cities will not feel safety and comfort.”
The film explains this will remain the case for as long as American and allied forces continue their assault on ISIS fighters in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere.
How many times will we receive reports several months after earlier declarations that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed informing us that said statement(s) reporting the demise of this son of a pig was premature.
Pentagon officials said Tuesday they were skeptical about reports that an airstrike from the U.S.-led coalition in Syria killed Islamic State terror leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
“We have seen these types of reports before, here in Iraq and in other operations, and until we have confirmation, we are going to practice healthy skepticism,” Col. Christopher C. Garver, a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, told Fox News[…]
