Actress, comedian, writer, feminist and producer, Tina Fey, threw down the gauntlet when during an an interview with Net-a-porter, the discussion turned to allegations of racism surrounding Fey’s jokes on her Netflix show, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” Fey, the latest member of Hollywood to acknowledge that Progressive crybabies have no sense of humor and see offense in lurking in every corner [my emphasis] stated that she is opting out of the “culture of demanding apologies” that festers on the internet.

“Steer clear of the internet and you’ll live forever. We did an Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt episode and the internet was in a whirlwind, calling it ‘racist’, but my new goal is not to explain jokes. I feel like we put so much effort into writing and crafting everything, they need to speak for themselves. There’s a real culture of demanding apologies, and I’m opting out of that.”…

 

As expected, Progressives are having a hissy fit, not that it will affect Fey at the box office or anywhere else for that matter.

According to Vox, Fey has “a narrow way of looking at the internet” after announcing that she plans to stay off the internet due to constant criticism….

The Vox article argued that Fey was choosing to unduly “opt-out” of the internet criticism, but some argue that a culture of constant offense-taking is a detriment to society.

It appears that Fey struck a nerve among those who are used to bullying celebrities and politicians into apologies….

Social justice warriors would ban humor if they could and while Fey, a Progressive herself doesn’t care one way or another, she is fast learning that it doesn’t feel so good once the chickens return home to roost. She might want to steer clear of college campuses for the next few years.

 

Onlinecensorship.org Tracks Content Takedowns by Facebook, Twitter, and Other Social Media Sites

San Francisco – The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and Visualizing Impact launched Onlinecensorship.org today, a new platform to document the who, what, and why of content takedowns on social media sites. The project, made possible by a 2014 Knight News Challenge award, will address how social media sites moderate user-generated content and how free expression is affected across the globe.

Controversies over content takedowns seem to bubble up every few weeks, with users complaining about censorship of political speech, nudity, LGBT content, and many other subjects. The passionate debate about these takedowns reveals a larger issue: social media sites have an enormous impact on the public sphere, but are ultimately privately owned companies. Each corporation has their own rules and systems of governance that control users’ content, while providing little transparency about how these decisions are made.

At Onlinecensorship.org, users themselves can report on content takedowns from Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, and YouTube. By cataloging and analyzing aggregated cases of social media censorship, Onlinecensorship.org seeks to unveil trends in content removals, provide insight into the types of content being taken down, and learn how these takedowns impact different communities of users.

“We want to know how social media companies enforce their terms of service. The data we collect will allow us to raise public awareness about the ways these companies are regulating speech,” said EFF Director for International Freedom of Expression and co-founder of Onlinecensorship.org Jillian C. There’s a mysterious phenomenon that keeps happening to alternative media journalists lately, and it seems to be a side effect of Ebola.

Mainstream stories are being removed from the internet without a trace.

The first I heard of this was when a colleague, Mac Slavo, of SHTFplan wrote an article entitled “Disaster Teams Were Notified Months Ago They Would Be Activated in October”. The article was based on a twitter exchange with a large government supplier of emergency response products specializing in “high risk events”.

I said, “Wow, that’s pretty weird. Sounds like you were definitely on to something.” And then I put it out of my mind, because…EBOLA. We got incredibly busy bringing you the most comprehensive information on the Ebola situation that can be found on any alternative news website.

But then, this happened…TWICE. Shortly after we quoted a mainstream source in a story that pointed out inconsistencies, the originally story got scrubbed from the internet. It took all sorts of cache-searching gymnastics to prove that we weren’t the ones lying and that something was definitely being hidden by someone.

The best thing about this is that you, the readers, have been the ones to point out the inconsistencies.

First, there was the story from an Israeli news source that said Thomas Duncan had died. None of the American sources said anything other than “Duncan is fighting for his life”. This was posted on Sunday, October 5th. Here’s a screen shot of the original story.

But then, when I went in to moderate comments on the 6th, this appeared:

This must be a parody site akin to The Onion. I went to the link in your article (http://www.israelnationalnews…. and all it had was:

I went in and clicked our original link. Here’s a screen shot of what I saw. Ummm…what?

Hmm…well, that’s different, isn’t it?

But, sort of like a Ginsu knife commercial, that’s not all. The next issue was also picked up by a sharp-eyed reader, and this is when we realized, “Houston, we have a problem….”

“Senate Republicans recently blocked cybersecurity legislation, but the issue might not be dead after all.

The White House hasn’t ruled out issuing an executive order to strengthen the nation’s defenses against cyberattacks if Congress refuses to act.

‘In the wake of Congressional inaction and Republican stall tactics, unfortunately, we will continue to be hamstrung by outdated and inadequate statutory authorities that the legislation would have fixed,’ White House press secretary Jay Carney said in an email.

‘Moving forward, the President is determined to do absolutely everything we can to better protect our nation against today’s cyber threats and we will do that,’ Carney said ….”

Oh, the Uses of the ‘Cyber’ Prefix: Cyberbellicosity, for Example

Like all politicians, his primary job is not to set appropriate cybersecurity policies but to re-elect himself and members of his party. The tiniest risk of a cyberattack making headlines to use against his party justifies expending taxpayer dollars, privacy, and digital liberties. This it not to prevent cyberattack. It is to prevent political attack.

Obama Regulatory Czar, Cass Sunstein, Confronted on Cognitive Infiltration of Conspiracy Groups

Cass Sunstein, Obama’s regulatory czar gave a lecture the other day at NYU Law School in NYC wherein Luke Rudkowski of WeAreChange, a Progressive entity, approached Sunstein and while I have no stomach for Progressives or their ideology, credit must be given where credit is due.  Rudkowski called Sunstein to task on a paper co-authored by Sunstein back in 2008 entitled “Conspiracy Theories” in which Sunstein called for cognitive infiltration of conspiracy groups by the government.

As you will see in the following video, a clearly uncomfortable Sunstein slithers about refusing to give Rudkowski a straight answer just long enough to duck into a NYC taxi.

Rudkowski to his benefit is not grasping at straws here.

Again, whether it does or doesn’t is a matter for open discussion in a democratic society. Choices of credence should be made by individual physicians and lay people according to their patients and health….”
