WASHINGTON – A North Carolina veteran very much alive is fighting for his life following a clerical error that resulted in his family getting a document from the departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense stating he had died.

The notices, along with the government’s condolences, came with two checks to help pay for burial costs for Robert Pressley — but because the system now says Pressley is deceased, his benefits reportedly have been terminated.

Dallas Hospital Had Device to Detect Ebola but FDA Regulations Barred Use

After weeks of blaming Texas Presbyterian Hospital for the delayed treatment of Ebola patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, it turns out that the CDC and fellow bureaucrats in the White House were not the only ones in DC who played a role in a calamity that exposed the incompetence of government. Enter the tyrannical FDA.

 

The Fim Array can detect Ebola and other diseases in under an hour using blood or saliva samples.

 

Texas Presbyterian had in their possession The Film Array, a $39,000 device capable of detecting the presence of the Ebola virus but could not use the device because it is not FDA approved.

Instead, the hospital had to wait 48 hours for confirmation of test results for not only Duncan but also Nina Pham and Amber Vinson, the two nurses who had contracted the Ebola virus while treating Duncan who were not wearing protective gear prior to his test results.

However, military news site Defense One reports that doctors could have simply turned on a toaster-sized device called the Film Array and gotten a diagnosis within minutes.

US military doctors sent to West Africa to combat the disease are already using the Film Array, which has more than 90percent accuracy, according to Defense.

The device costs $39,000 – a pittance by the standards of medical devices in hospitals – and was developed by Utah-based BioFire Diagnostics to test the genetic markers of a slew of gastrointestinal and respiratory viruses. It can use blood or saliva samples and it’s proven adept at quickly detecting Ebola, as well.

Presbyterian Hospital acquired one two years ago, though it has been prohibited from using the device to diagnose patients because the Food and Drug Administration had approved it only for research use – and not for testing Ebola….

Feds Wanted to Transform Hotel into a Refugee Camp for Illegal Alien Children But It’s Booked.

Searching for places to house the “overwhelm[ing]” influx of Mexican and Central American children crossing the U.S. southern border without parents or guardians, government officials scouted out an abandoned hotel in Grand Island, New York on Friday.

Or at least the government thought the hotel was abandoned.

As it turned out, the 263-room Byblos Niagara Resort and Spa was fully booked.

“It looks like there’s been a mistake,” federal agents with the Homeland Security Department and the Border Patrol told the hotel manager, according to the Buffalo News.

“They were thinking the hotel was abandoned and closed,” the manager said….

A simple Google search could have saved the agents the trip the the hotel.

What is clear is that the feds were moving quickly, without giving local authorities much notice…..

Cannot help but wonder if the feds even gave a damn as to whether the hotel was abandoned or not.  Since they failed to give local authorities notice, they might have intended to bully the hotel owner out of his property.  Property grab anyone?  Even worse, Obama administration funding a summer camp for illegal alien kids because oh, they’ve gone through so much? On my tax dollar? Really?

If the federal government wants to fly illegals somewhere, fly them to the other side of the Mexican border.

Thank goodness that Nancy Pelosi took a few moments from her busy day to answer the question which many Americans (with a pulse) have been asking themselves, ‘So, like, hey, what’s up with those IRS e-mails regarding ‘TEA Party targeting’ being ‘lost’ due to multiple hard drive crashes, failures, and shredding of the aforementioned drives?  Huh, what’s up with that?’”.

Okay, not the exact question, but the response which follows WAS her actual response.

‘What it convinces me [of] is that they need a new technology system at the IRS. They need to upgrade their technology, get it right, so that there’s no suspicion about what agenda anyone may have on that.’

TRANSLATION: ‘IRS computer systems are outdated and insecure. We’ll need YOUR money to fix them because up until this moment in time…

College Student Denied Meds Due to Gender Glitch on Obamacare Website

The Un-Affordable Care Act, the train wreck that keeps on coming.

Imagine signing up for Obamacare only to find yourself denied much needed medications because you were listed under the wrong gender.

Then imagine spending weeks trying to straighten out a mess not of your making.

That is the case of Marion, SC college student Shelby Higdon who although she checked the box marked “female” when registering for Obamacare found herself registered as a man.

Each time they say it’s been fixed. No doubt, dealing with Healthcare.gov is like dealing with the DMV, even worse the IRS or should I say the VA and it’s just the beginning.

The kicker is that Blue Cross/Blue Shield eventually straightened out the mess but could not discuss it due to patient privacy.

Dog whistle for “under a gag order from HHS.” Barack Obama and fellow Progressives who will voted out of office this fall wants Americans to think that the Obamacare train wreck ended with the departure of Katherine Sebelius.

Not a chance.

Treasury Department Tells Callers Government Is Shutdown

The government shutdown may have ended last October, but the Treasury Department’s voicemail is telling callers a different story. 

After callers wait a minute to hear all of the prompts, callers hear this:

‘Due to the lapse in appropriations, the Treasury Department is currently closed. Once the appropriations have been restored, the Treasury Department will reopen for business as usual. Thank you.’

How much is that illusion costing taxpayers?  Moreover, what more proof do we need to realize that government is just too big for its own good and that of every American?
