Backstep to 2014:
Americans expressed outrage over Barack Obama’s release of five Taliban commanders from Guantanamo Bay to the government of Qatar in exchange for U. S. Army deserter, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
For five years, the Taliban played host to Bergdahl after the deserter intentionally sought them out. While with the Taliban, Bergdahl converted to Islam.
Bergdahl’s release was celebrated with a press release orchestrated by Obama who smiled at Bergdahl’s father, Robert Bergdahl, also a Muslim convert in the Rose Garden of the White House as the father of the deserter expressed the “most famous war cry of Islam, ‘bismillah al-rahman al-rahim,’ Arabic for ‘in the name of Allah the most gracious, the most merciful.”
The cry was a declaration of victory over the United States and the bodies of United States Army Staff Sergeant Clayton Bowen – age 29, Private First Class Morris Walker – age 23, Staff Sergeant Kurt Curtiss – age 27, Pfc. Matthew M. Martinek – age 20, Staff Sergeant Michael C. Murphrey – age 25 and Army 2nd Lieutenant Darryn O. Andrews – age 34 killed by the Taliban while searching for deserter, Bergdahl.
In spite of the release of the Taliban Five from Guantanamo Bay having occurred without Congressional approval followed up by calls across the nation for Obama’s impeachment, Republican Party primary candidate and golden boy, Senator Marco Rubio was among the many establishment voices refusing to file articles of impeachment in 2014 and thereafter should Obama release more Gitmo detainees/Islamic jihadists (which he has) without Congressional approval.
Rubio’s position, while at the same time talking a big game, was that an impeachment process was not the “right approach.”
The Hill
Responding to comments made by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Rubio said, “to be honest with you, I’m not sure there’s many people here that are focused on that right now.”
“Well, I’m not, at this point, calling for impeachment…This president has two years left in his term. We hope they pass quickly, that he will — that we can somehow have a majority here in the Senate so we can limit the amount of damage he’s doing to our economy and to our national security….“
.Enter 2016:
While we pray that it never comes to pass, during the Fox News Debate a few weeks back, Rubio attacked Hillary Clinton’s call to place Obama on the Supreme Court, “Hillary Clinton this week said that Barack Obama would make a great Supreme Court justice…The guy who systematically and habitually violates the Constitution on the Supreme Court? I don’t think so.”
Yet, Marco Rubio who this year graced the cover of “La Opinión, the nation’s largest daily Spanish-language newspaper” hailed as “Rubio: ¿el Barack Obama republican” (translated: Rubio, the Republican Obama) in 2014 justified his rejection of impeachment proceedings against Obama in spite of endless Constitutional violations because the despot had “two years left in his term.”
So let Obama be? It is this sense of rationale by the Republican Party leadership that has enabled Obama’s fundamental transformation of America while dismantling of our military and neglecting our veterans.
Rubio is not alone.
In 2014, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin penned an op-ed in Breitbart News calling for Obama’s impeachment:
Without borders, there is no nation. Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America. It’s the only promise he has kept. Discrediting the price paid for America’s exceptionalism over our history, he’s given false hope and taxpayer’s change to millions of foreign nationals who want to sneak into our country illegally. Because of Obama’s purposeful dereliction of duty an untold number of illegal immigrants will kick off their shoes and come on in, competing against Americans for our jobs and limited public services….
President Obama’s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here….
It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment….
Less than 24 hours later, another Republican Party primary candidate, Senator Ted Cruz, a Constitutional Conservative who has decried the lawlessness of Obama time after time distanced himself from Palin’s call for impeachment.
National Review
“That is a decision for the House of Representatives,’ Cruz told National Review Online when asked if he agrees with Palin. ‘I serve as the ranking member of the Constitution Subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and, in that capacity, I have been working hard to describe in comprehensive detail the lawlessness of President Obama and the Obama administration. We’ve put out a series of reports about the consistent pattern of this administration disregarding the law, refusing to enforce the law, unilaterally changing the law — which is utterly unprecedented and is a profound threat to individual liberty….”
“I have been working hard to describe in comprehensive detail the lawlessness of President Obama and the Obama administration….,” In 2014, both candidates Rubio and Cruz, Senators sworn to serve, knew where they would be today and both rejected the filing of articles of impeachment against a president running ramshod over our country while annihilating this nation’s liberties and its borders.
Insulting the intelligence of our heroes, Rubio speaks of restoring greatness to the U. S. Military after rejecting calls for impeachment by Americans fed up with the lawlessness and unconstitutional acts committed over the years by the Obama monarchy; while posted on Ted Cruz 2016 website is the following:
The Constitution is unambiguous and clear. The defense of our nation and the security of our citizens is the exclusive and mandatory responsibility of the Federal Government. A nation that is unable to assure the sanctity of its sovereign borders and incapable of influencing global events will soon struggle for its very existence. Every American intuitively knows this, knows also that their individual liberties depend upon a stable and secure nation….
“Every American intuitively knows this, knows also that their individual liberties depend upon a stable and secure nation…” But, let us not consider filing articles of impeachment against a rogue leader (establishment talking points) guilty of repeatedly infringing upon the liberties of Americans, destabilizing our nation’s security and its borders. Besides, Congress will deal with it, which Congress did not.
So how is it that Rubio, Cruz and counterparts in the GOP establishment expect Americans to vote for a candidate that would ship our loved ones off to WAR minus the guarantee of victory or their return home to loved ones alive while at the same time refusing to fulfill their Constitutional duties because someone will tell them NO???????
What the hell???
Congressman Mike Pompeo, a Rubio supporter penned a piece in the National Review lambasting Cruz for what Pompeo considers disgraceful and a “slap in the face” to our U. S. Military in that Cruz is alleged to have failed to vote against bills that would bar bringing Gitmo detainees to South Carolina.
At the same time, one day after promising not to miss any more votes in the Senate that held “major national significance or one that would make a difference,” Rubio went MIA during a vote on defense spending. What is Rubio’s excuse for this continued dereliction of duty? He is running for president as if by doing so, Rubio deserves a pass.
In 2015, Senators Marco Rubio followed by Lindsey Graham (S.C.) followed by Ted Cruz (Texas) missed more roll call votes during 2015 than any other member of the U. S. Senate.
Most Americans would find themselves out of a job if they went MIA on their employers.
After eight years of Barack Obama, renowned for at one point having missed more than 80% of votes in the U. S. Senate, those candidates who demand that Congress and the Senate be held to the same standards as the rest of the nation but themselves refuse to show up for a vote or perform any other function of their duties in Congress or the Senate cannot be trusted to run our country.
Palin is right, the American people “should [must] vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment.”
