Those veterans, called Baby Boomers, all recognize these Hollywood stars who served in the military during World War II. It’s called a handshake.

Obviously this is not the America of today that it was seventy years ago when “movie stars” just naturally put love of country above their own personal interests.

Sterling Hayden, US Marines and OSS.  Smuggled guns into Yugoslavia and parachuted into Croatia.

James Stewart, US Army Air Corps. Bomber pilot who rose to the rank of General.

Ernest Borgnine, US Navy. Gunners Mate 1c, destroyer USS Lamberton.

Ed McMahon, US Marines. Fighter Pilot. (Flew OE-1 Bird Dogs over Korea as well.)

Walter Matthau, US Army Air Corps., B-24 Radioman/Gunner and cryptographer.

Steve Forrest, US Army. Wounded, Battle of the Bulge.

Jonathan Winters, USMC. Battleship USS Wisconsin and Carrier USS Bon Homme Richard. Anti-aircraft gunner, Battle of Okinawa[…]

Every week on Monday, the WoW! community and our invited guests weigh in at the Watcher’s Forum, short takes on a major issue of the day, the culture, or daily living. This week’s question
: What Are Some Of Your Favorite Fictional Characters?

Fausta Rodriguez Wertz : So many fictional characters to like!

In literature:

Jane Austen’s Emma, “Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence; and had lived nearly twenty-one years in the world with very little to distress or vex her.”

Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, the original. When other kids were reading Nancy Drew, I was reading Sherlock.

Amor Towel’s Count Alexander Rostov of A Gentleman in Moscow. A man to love.

Guy de Maupassant’s George Duroy of Bel Ami, spiritual ancestor to Mad Men’s Don Draper and Bonfire of the Vanities’ Peter Fallow.

On film:
The entire cast of Casablanca. Every character stands out.

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Leave out the action scenes and you find a human being.

On TV:
Emma Peel of The Avengers as interpreted by Diana Rigg. She took care of Mr Steed in great style. I want to be Emma Peel when I grow up.

Rob Miller : OK, here we go…the short list…Bart Simpson, Alice Kramden, Chaplin’s Tramp, Odysseus, Vulcan sex kitten T’pau as played by Jolene Blaylock, Rufus T. Firefly (Duck Soup), Bugs Bunny, Yojimbo (in the Kurosawa film of the same name), Edwina and Patsy from Ab Fab, Sherlock Holmes, Guy Hamilton and Jill Bryant (Aussie journo and his love object  in The Year of Living Dangerously), James Bond (the book one, not the movies), Larry Darrell in ‘The Razor’s Edge’ (book version) Jay Gatsby (ditto, the book), Ian Rankin’s detective John Rebus, Suzy Wong (both the book and the film) The Man With No Name, Col. Jock Sinclair (Tunes Of Glory), Chio Chio San from Madama Butterfly, Lucy Warriner in The Awful Truth.

Dave Schuler : I couldn’t name any one favorite and I’m afraid my favorites are pretty lowbrow. Here are a few of my favorites

Nikos Kazantzakis’s Zorba
Robert Van Gulik’s Judge Dee
Rex Stout’s Nero Wolfe
Seabury Quinn’s Jules de Grandin
Robert E. Howard’s Steve Costigan (from his novela Skullface)
H. Rider Haggard’s Allan Quatermain

That should puzzle just about anyone.

Patrick O’Hannigan : Among my favorite fictional characters, these stand out:

* Frodo, Sam, and Gandalf from J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings,” all of whom are steadfast in different ways.
* Éowyn, “Shieldmaiden of Rohan” in Peter Jackson’s film adaptation of “The Return of the King,” because she steals every scene she’s in.
* Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt as mother-and-daughter con artists in the 2001 movie “Heartbreakers,” because they both act like they’re in on the joke (which, of course, they are)
* Philip Marlowe, Raymond Chandler’s Los Angeles-based private detective, who manages to be rough and cynical while remaining honorable.
* Don Quixote de la Mancha, because Cervantes made him more memorable than delusional.
* The entire cast of the “Princess Bride” movie (1987)
* The late, great John Candy as Dell Griffith, shower curtain ring salesman, in “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”

Well, there it is!

Make sure to drop by every Monday for the WoW! Magazine Forum. And enjoy WoW! Magazine 24-7 with some of the best stuff written in the ‘net. Take from me, you won’t want to miss it.

What’s New Pussycat? The Hollywood Zeitgeist of the Ages

Unified Patriots by Vassar Bushmills

Seems the Hollywood Academy Regrets Their Hasty Decision to Banish Harvey Weinstein

Although, not for the reasons you think.

You see, Hollywood had forgotten their past 20-30 years of moral outrage had always been pretend, or at least selective, but once Harvey was dispatched, that outrage sated, there was a flood of new charges against many more stars, many, actually most, disputed. And no proof other than a complaint. Often several years old. Even against Weinstein, the only charges against him that stuck were those covered by settlement agreements (and associated non-disclosure agreements).

Worse, it seems gay men, a protected species in Hollywood, are as culpable as straight guys.

As we know from Bill Cosby, these kinds of charges don’t do well in front of juries. Which is why the Allred girls (Gloria and daughter Lisa Bloom) chose to be paid up-front just for getting the charges in front of compliant gossip-media, which, thanks to Donald Trump, they’ve all become. I get the sense the Allred girls aren’t good with juries either. (That Sincerity seminar they attended in Ought-3 seems to be running like cheap mascara.)

But the most damaging hammer to the Academy and its board members is that as the list grows, from Kevin Spacy, Dustin Hoffman, Ben Affleck, and Louis CK, (already eloquently defended by Dave Chappelle, who said what Louis did didn’t offend him, it made him laugh), the number of Hollywood celebrities who knew or probably knew, or should grown is also growing. Since #HeKnew and #SheKnew has already been laid on the bosoms of some of Hollywood’s elite about Harvey, silence has become a co-conspirator which may condemn more and more of the Academy membership, who now appear to be hypocritical and unfit to stand in judgment of any other Academy member by selectively singling out only one for banishment and then wash their hands and walk away[…]

Twitter Gestapo Permanently Bans Breitbart’s Milo Yiannopoulos

Twitter has banned another Conservative.

Milo Yiannopoulos of editor of Breitbart Tech was permanently banned from Twitter less than a half hour before his before his “Gays for Trump” event was scheduled to begin yesterday.

The move calculated is supposedly in response to allegations that Yiannopoulos went after Black actress, Leslie Jones.

Not true. However, Yiannopoulos did write a scathing review about the movie in which Jones stars (“Ghostbusters”) but then so did 99% of movie critics whose Twitter accounts remain active.

Jones complained that she was receiving hateful tweets and blamed Yiannopoulos.

Twitter is accusing Yiannopoulos of trolling and inciting hate as justification for suspension in spite of the fact that Black Lives Matter, Bill Maher and countless Hollywood loons are themselves guilty of far worse, all of whom are given a pass by the Marxist Twitter squad.

Jones who is biased and sees herself as a…oh wait for it…victim announced that because of the hate she’s receiving on the social media platform that she was quitting Twitter.  Here we go with the publicity stunts.

Twitter obviously looking for a good reason to permanently ban Yiannopoulos found their victim, Leslie Jones/@Lesdoggg (who checking all of the boxes is a member of Hollywood, Black and a woman whose handlers will use this moment as a prop to hype a disastrous film panned by everyone).

Breitbart News by Ben Kew

The justification for the suspension is currently unknown, although it could be as a result of Milo’s run-in with Ghostbusters actress Leslie Jones on the site. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey publicly reached out to Jones late on Monday evening after she complained about “abuse” on the platform. Milo was suspended despite the fact that he sent no abusive tweets to the actress.

BuzzFeed gleefully reported that the suspension is permanent, citing a statement from Twitter promising a clampdown on “targeted abuse.” Milo has also received a message from Twitter confirming that that his ban is permanent, copied below.

The statement also promises to tackle “hateful” conduct, in the wake of widespread media condemnation of racist tweets sent to Leslie Jones. However, it remains to be seen whether Twitter will take any action against Jones’ own racially hateful tweets, seen below and archived here.

No, seriously this is the Tweet that got @Nero suspended. Feel the hate. #freemilo pic.twitter.com/h0SjGDggwy

— THE Chris Coon (@Coondawg68) July 20, 2016

In a comment, Milo said “With the cowardly suspension of my account, Twitter has confirmed itself as a safe space for Muslim terrorists and Black Lives Matter extremists, but a no-go zone for conservatives.”

[…]

Continue Reading — Milo Suspended Permanently by Twitter Minutes Before ‘Gays For Trump’ Party At RNC,

Good grief. Let’s keep it real. Yiannopoulos’ mortal sin is that he’s a gay male who is not a Progressive and who annihilates social justice warriors on Twitter and in their so-called “safe spaces.”

As far as Progressives are concerned, any member of the LGBT community, Black or Hispanic communities or women who spurn the Progressive plantation must be taught a lesson.

Below Yiannopoulos responds to actions taken by Marxist twitter:

I actually ran across a tweet (which I won’t post here) calling Yiannopoulos (twitter handle @Nero) an “Uncle Tom fagg“.  The tweet was dispatched under Leslie Jones’ twitter account (or so it would seem) who attempting to escalate her “victim status” is claiming that the tweet went account under fake twitter account (or something like that), i.e., another Progressive excuse for justifying their bad behavior.

The twitter ban was not well received on Twitter.

The fact is that @Nero did not engage in incitement. But Leslie Jones did.

“I hope y’all go after them like they going after me.”

Suspending the top gay conservative voice of the world??

Great move @jack, Very tolerant of you!!#FreeMilo

— Baked Alaska™ (@bakedalaska) July 20, 2016

Twitter and Jack will probably ban me next. First @RSMcCain and now @Nero. Speech is under attack. #FreeMilo

— Ali A. Akbar (@ali) July 20, 2016

Gay immigrant Conservative @Nero gets kicked off Twitter for nothing & vile hate-filled liberal @freedarko stays on. pic.twitter.com/1pchuH1LNB

— Nat Shupe (@NatShupe) July 20, 2016

I mean……I’m sure @Nero was much worse than this guy….

Double Standards. #FreeMilo https://t.co/aPOT6uhZiy

— Leah the Boss (@LeahRBoss) July 20, 2016

Why can terrorists post videos of beheading people but @twitter will suspend @nero for free speech? @jack #FreeMilo #FreeNero

— oBoLa CrAcKa (@HouseCracka) July 20, 2016

WTF? @jack you ban @nero from @twitter but not this douchebag? Why is his tweet OK about @DonaldJTrumpJr? #FreeMilo https://t.co/zM6NpHF85w

— Saltwater❤️ Patricia (@muzikgirl11) July 20, 2016

Are you talking about #BlackLivesMatter or @Nero ?

Because actual mobs of BLM have attacked people. #FreeMilo https://t.co/N0xzjJNbgz

Veteran Hollywood actor, pushed back hard in an interview with Progressive sock puppet, Jeffrey Wells, Hollywood-Elsewhere on the Second Amendment.

When Wells approached the Paris and San Bernardino linking the Islamic terrorists attacks (my emphasis) to the so-called “gun culture” and sudden violence becoming the norm, Russell pointed out to the interviewer that guns have been around since “the 7th Century or something” so what’s the big deal (my emphasis).

The interviewer then went at Russell with the typical Black Lives Matter white guilt meme stating that guns are “a totem, a metaphor that disenfranchised white guys need…it makes them feel good about themselves.” (Grrrr!)

Russell to Wells: “If you think gun control is going to change the terrorists’ point of view, I think you’re, like, out of your mind.”

Boom!

Wells was out of his league interviewing Russell who stood his ground, hard owning the out of touch guilt-ridden Hollywood elitist/propagandist.

Independent Journal by Reid Mene

Kurt Russell stands by the second Amendment and isn’t afraid to tell you otherwise. During a recent interview with Hollywood-elsewhere , Russell was asked about the San Bernardino shootings. But before he dove into the specifics of the attack, Russell said he doesn’t “understand…the conversation about gun culture” because “we’ve lived with guns since, what, the 7th Century or something?” Wells countered, arguing […]

While Hollywood may be full of Marxist elitists, they are all cowards and prisoners to political correctness.

The Telegraph by Rozina Sabur

Gods of Egypt star Gerard Butler The makers behind the upcoming Hollywood film Gods of Egypt have apologised for casting mainly white actors . Director Alex Proyas, whose film is based on Egyptian mythology, and the studio Lionsgate both separately apologised as they acknowledged the film had caused controversy. The film has a star studded cast including Scottish actor Gerard Butler and Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The backlash against the casting began two weeks […]

Proyas in his apology stated that “The process of casting a movie has many complicated variables, but it is clear that our casting choices should have been more diverse.” Translation: Both Proyas and Lionsgate will shoot checks off to Al Sharpton and a few other members of the grievance industry in the morning and that will be the end of that.

Of course, some will prefer cash of which Proyas and Lionsgate will more than happy to oblige.
