Very clearly, Christine Blasey Ford lied during her time in the spotlight at Thursday’s Senate confirmation hearing for Brett Kavanaugh.

It’s a sort of law that when an accuser, under oath, says a thing was done to her by a named fellow “100%”, as Blasey Ford did yesterday, and then that named fellow, Brett Kavanaugh, the accused, also under oath also states, “100%” he did not…

…one of them lied.

Certain laws of nature are involved here, for when a person says something that is clearly not so, as one of these people did, there are only four possible reasons why; 1) mistake 2) lie, 3) ignorance (stupidity), and 4) delusion.

We can rule out stupidity. And delusion, which while a very possible option in a world where possibly a third of the entire adult population is living in a kind of mass delusion about all sorts of realities, and that delusion most likely externally induced, I tend to also rule it out, because evidence…the sort juries are actually allowed to hear and consider, leans heavily toward a series of events long after the alleged date of the sexual assault, that lead to knowing cognitive awareness. Malice aforethought

She lied because, as Brit Hume of Fox News so ineloquently put it, Bret Kavanaugh had more evidence supporting his denial than did Christine Blasey-Ford in adding weight to her accusation.

I haven’t watched Fox News in several months. Any of it. I’m now addicted the space monsters on Comet Network and the Military History Channel. One of the reasons I stopped was that, since the election almost every element of the media, all political establishment insiders, had begun to lead (or follow, one is never sure) the national Democratic Party, in some of the most exotic plots against the Trump Administration and its very right to exist. known to man.

This began on Day One in February, 2017, and has not just continued unabated, but grown to perilous dimensions, including the rise of a new term in the people’s lexicon, “the deep state”.

This Kavanaugh episode is but a side show to that larger conflict, what the British in India called the Great Game, and Henry Gondorf, a Chicago grifter in the 30s, called the Big Con.

Long story short, for various reasons I suppose, while Fox News would never go along with this Game as played by the rest of the media and its partners in crime in government, neither would they just out-of-hand condemn it. Fox might speak of lies by their competition, and a few politicians, but they would never call them out, never crossing the boundary between “lies and damned lies” as Mark Twain so eloquently pointed out in the 19th Century, when those words alone could cause the drawing of pistols..

To call a man out as “damned liar” was once a big deal. And only this past week I urged members of the Republican Party leadership to do that very thing. I suggested the Republicans throw down on the Dems, warning them that if they brought a knife, we’d bring a gun, Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD).

My prescription was at least partially followed, at least by Sen Lindsay Graham, who said everything to the entitre Democvrat side I wanted Chuck Grassly to say to Diane Feinstein. Lady Di tried to hide under the podium anyway[…]

(Updated from 2010, when Obama-the-idea was still new.)

The Hook

The GOP establishment has always kept one foot in the water bucket during a thunderstorm; never fixing that hole in the roof, because, when it’s raining, it too wet to go outside, and when it’s sunny, hell, there ain’t no leak. For a century this view of politics has held sway in state capitals and in Washington alike, but today, it doesn’t take into account that Democrats still have every state into little more than administrative accounting unit, or that the only real defense against this takeover will be a bridging of that divide between the Red and Blue GOP.

Only instead of a united front, we are throwing a three-tiered front; Blue Establishment Republicans, Red Conservatives, and in the last year, (but brewing for a decade or more) an amalgam of American detritus, often referred to by me as the Common Man and Woman, offering a return to an older definition, or hue, of Red.

We know infinitely more about each today than we did in 2009. And it all seems to reside in the absence of a single handshake.

The Class Struggle, the Usual Suspect

Long before I ever got into my book debate with Moses Sands (1998) about the Constitution and common man, he and I spoke many times about the role of class in American society and politics. We agreed it was worse then (1990s- Clinton era) than it had been in the 1890s, at the time of the robber barons, or the 1950s with the rise of the new capitalists after the Depression and WWII. The difference was a simple matter of demographics, a Blue diaspora, and hard math, with far more Americans becoming better educated in a higher percentage of shirt and tie professions…and many, many more in government-related work, where it’s simply harder to be continue to be a conservative and draw a state paycheck. Or. even a Republican, as election results prove in both Virginia and Maryland, when federal employment has turned both states blue. (Certain laws apply here about loyalty to the hand that feeds you which are immutable, and go back to the time of the pharaohs[…]

If you stop to consider the profile of James Hodgkison there is more there there than first imagined. I’m sure when the media covered the various Occupy events in 2011-2012, no one noticed the few 50+ to 60+ year old men wedged in between all the snowflakes and sonnenkinder. He was not crazy, any more than an Islamic suicide bomber is crazy. But he did decide, as the Cheyenne would say, it was a “good day to die” leaving himself open to return fire, and no avenue of retreat. He used a 1950’s era Soviet/Chinese mainline infantry assault weapon, designed to hit a target from 100-200 yards, yet tried to gun down men from around a hundred feet. From longer range, better concealment and some target training, he could have squeezed off one-two rounds in less than ten seconds, hit two targets, disposed of the gun, and walked to his van, and been back in a YMCA taking a shower before local police could have cordoned off the area. He could have, as the training manual reads, “lived to fight another day.”

Unless an autopsy shows he was dying of cancer, we may never know why he chose to die so stupidly. But we are all thankful that he was such a lousy shot.

Still, he sent a clear signal about who the Left has placed its bounty on. And maybe even more importantly, who it has not.

When it was revealed that Hodgkison carried a target list in his pocket listing only GOP Liberty Caucus members, it made Speaker Paul Ryan’s words about family morph into something less universal, since he and his leadership weren’t targets after all. In certain circles that’s a big deal[…]

The Jefferson-Hamilton Handshake, the 2 x 4 Version

Another insightful essay from Unified Patriots by Vassarbushmills:

The bulk of this essay was first written in 2010 when serious conservatives saw the GOP Establishment merely as shameless cravens, part- Stockholm Syndrome to their Democrat betters, across the aisle, and part what I’ve referred to elsewhere as “Rice Bowl Tories”.

2010 was when the GOP Establishment saw us as Hobbits, per John McCain, and had handshakes a’plenty for those across the aisle, but extended no hand for the voting masses who, as this letter requests, we asked them to extend..

But much has changed since May, 2010. First the people gave the GOP the House to undo Obamacare later that year, and then when nothing changed, the people the gave the GOP the Senate in 2014 to augment their firepower. And then when still nothing changed except possibly even more knowing smiles, the people  changed course and gave themselves Donald Trump.

Then everything changed, especially those Cheshire countenances among the Establishment. Having no choice but to choose between the Crown and these awful Hobbits, the grins have disappeared.

Today, the Republicans, including a number of conservatives, are none too happy for having been put into this situation, especially by seemingly being unable to do anything about it.

For them, this really is the Devil and the deep blue sea…choices many Republicans really don’t like to have to make, a president they really don’t like, even when he shows flashes of genius, or squishes the media with his thumb as one would a cockroach, or exhibits a leadership they’d always boasted about themselves but never really had to perform.

He is not one of them, and that is reason enough not to like Donald Trump. And then there’s that rambunctious voter base, Hobbits, recently renamed “Deplorables”, who has absolutely no respect for the Establishment’s rank and title, instead judging them entirely on their performance as enemies of the Left, which, if this were 1952 and Adlai Stevenson were the face of American liberalism, might be passable. But not now, while our nation teeters at the brink..

So, if they choose wrong one way, their reserved deckchair on the Swamp’s beachside resort may be lost. But a wrong choice the other way, a rope may await them. Existential choices both, only who wants to have to make them?

Let me take you back to 2010 when first I tried to explain the essential handshake between the Republican Party and the people. And once again, I’m standing here, with my right hand extended, only now I’m holding a 2 x 4 in my left, just to get your attention.

The Hook

In 2010, just after Obamacare, but before the midterms, I took note of political conditions in Virginia. I had a friend who was a long time Virginia GOP insider. A conservative only when the party is out of power, he was down-the-line all-politics  when his party was in, as it was then with Bob McDonnell & Co. He believed they were in for at least eight years, with Bill Bolling the heir apparent, the deal already cut[…]

A Note to the GOP: You Ride With Criminals, You Hang With Criminals

Unified Patriots by Vassarbushmills

There’s some talk that many Republicans in both the Senate and the House are getting wobbly about actually ending Obamacare.

Suddenly, it’s “repair”, not “repeal and replace”.

My only question is:

After promising to end Obamacare if we could just gain control of the House in 2010, and then when that came up short, promising to end it if we could only add the Senate, which the People delivered in 2014, and finally, when that wasn’t enough, we delivered an enthusiastic President who wouldn’t veto those GOP promises…

….why did you only figure out this past week that maybe you couldn’t carry out those promises as promised after all?

I won’t ask any more questions and will only make a few very obvious comments:

The People who put Donald Trump into the White House have known from the beginning that many members of the Congress tend to go wobbly when they are told by the Media to be afraid, in this case that some of their constituents may be harmed or inconvenienced by Obamacare’s dismantling.

The People who put Donald Trump into the White House already know the Media lies…regularly…and also knows that some members of Congress have always been easy to bait with fake news anyway, so easy in fact, their credulity may be disguising a deeper hidden agenda, one which involves just a little contempt for the People who put Donald Trump into the White House in the first place.

So, if the truth be known, it has always been known to us that many members of Congress are secretly un-anxious to actually pull the trigger against Obamacare and wander off into that great unknown of a genuine reformation of the American government more in line with the original Constitutional blueprint.

In short, we know the secret supplications of your hearts. We know many in Congress are afraid of that brave old world Donald Trump has suggested we return to, and our discarding the fat and sassy accommodations the People have provided them the past several years.

A little mathematics is in order.

First, the People who put Donald Trump into the White House are unafraid of the Media, or their co-conspirators, the Democrat Party, for we finally found an American “First Politician” who is totally unafraid of either of them.

Donald Trump has totally unmasked them. With regards to both the Democrats and the Media there are no longer any shades of gray. The criminal teat-fittery we have seen in only the first two weeks by the academic class, the entertainment class, and the rent-a-mob class, all to the condonance, even hoorahs, of the Democrats and Media, (with a few exceptions), exposes the breadth of this resistance any return to constitutional normalcy. That gauntlet has been thrown down, even if some Republicans still think this is only political theater[…]

Washington Times

GOP PAGE 347 x 212

Top Republicans will try to force more transparency at the party’s national convention in July, aiming to scrap their 1,500-page rule book in favor of simpler procedures that they hope will head off arcane maneuvers designed to deny Donald Trump the presidential nomination.

The changes wouldn’t guarantee Mr. Trump the nod but would make it easier for all sides to see what sorts of changes anti-Trump factions are attempting.

Some members of the Republican National Committee want to ditch the massive rule book, which is based on the parliamentary handbook of the U.S. House, and instead use Robert’s Rules of Order to govern floor action at the convention….
