A second state lawmaker has now introduced a bill that would prohibit the sale of smartphones with unbreakable encryption. Except this time, despite very similar language to a pending New York bill, the stated rationale is to fight human trafficking, rather than terrorism.

Specifically, California Assemblymember Jim Cooper’s (D-Elk Grove) new bill, which was introduced Wednesday, would “require a smartphone that is manufactured on or after January 1, 2017, and sold in California, to be capable of being decrypted and unlocked by its manufacturer or its operating system provider.”

New York State is attempting to push through similar legislation, which comes as no surprise. Between Governor Moonbeam and that Fascist, Andrew Cuomo, it is hard to say who is worse. As for people living in both states, HALT THIS TRAINWRECK!

The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that police must obtain warrants before snooping through people’s cellphones, delivering a unanimous decision that begins to update legal understanding of privacy rules to accommodate 21st-century technology.

Police agencies argued that searching through data on cellphones was no different from asking someone to turn out his pockets, but the justices rejected that, saying a cellphone holds the most personal and intimate details of someone’s life and falls squarely within the Fourth Amendment’s privacy protections….

The justices even said police cannot check a cellphone’s call log because it could contain more information than phone numbers, and perusing the call log is a violation of privacy that can be justified only with a court-issued warrant….

Hey team,

My fingers are trembling a bit as I type this email — partly from exhaustion but mostly from tremendous excitement. Tomorrow we Reset the Net, and start on a path toward securing the web, and defending freedom for generations to come.

Just today, we received a very special message from Edward Snowden himself. All of us at Fight for the Future are humbled, knowing that our huge victories this year mobilizing against government surveillance would not have been possible without him risking everything to expose the abuses of the worlds’ most powerful governments.

Glen Greenwald was impressive despite attempts by General Hayden and Michael Dershowitz to discredit Edward Snowden and those of us who disapprove of government spying on us. How ignorant and gullible do these Progressives think we are?

Pardon Edward Snowden

My personal opinion is that Snowden is a hero.  The traitors are the Obama administration, any politician or government official including the NSA and police state responsible for infringing upon the liberties and oppression of the masses.

As far as the U. S. government spying on other nations, that does not bother me but spying on Americans, invading every aspect of our existence is unacceptable and the fact that Snowden put his neck on the line to expose the unconstitutional acts of an oppressive government against the people of the United States makes him a hero in my book.

As for those who say that Snowden should not have run to Russia or China, has it occurred to them that Barack Obama maintains an assassination list and has already droned four Americans, i.e., Anwar al-Awalaki, his son, Abdulrahman al-Awalaki, Samir Khan, a U.S. citizen of Pakistani heritage and Jude Kenan Mohammad, a U.S. citizen and former resident of North Carolina.

So what is to keep Obama who has developed quite the bloodlust from killing Edward Snowden?

Let’s keep it real; Russia and China are likely the only two countries in the world where Barack Obama dispatch a drone to murder Snowden.

Snowden made a heck of a sacrifice for the American people.  He deserves better.  He deserves for we, the people to stand up against tyranny and our oppressors.
