I will be forwarding this email to everyone in New York City.

The only thing that Commie Bill de Blasio has done for New York City as mayor has been to place a camera at every other intersection throughout the City which leads one to wonder if there is a connection.

When going through a Burger King drive-thru, one passes these strange looking cameras (with mics).  The NSA is spying on those within range on several levels.

The Daily Sheeple by The Free Thought Project.com.

Editor’s Note: And AT&T just bought out Time Warner and Time Warner’s name just got changed to “Spectrum”… Essentially, the NSA is in everyone’s home at this point.

For many New Yorkers, 33 Thomas Street — known as the “Long Lines Building” — has been a source of mystery for years. It has been labeled one of the city’s weirdest and most iconic skyscrapers, but little information has ever been published about its purpose. (Image: Screenshot/The Intercept/Project X)

A menacing gray skyscraper, known as the Long Lines Building to New Yorkers, assumed to be nothing more than an AT&T hub, is one of the most important surveillance facilities of the National Security Agency (NSA).

An investigation by The Intercept found that the “Project X” building – constructed to withstand an atomic blast and house and feed 1,500 people for two weeks – is host to the NSA as it works with AT&T conducting mass surveillance.

“Documents obtained by The Intercept from the NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden do not explicitly name 33 Thomas Street as a surveillance facility. However — taken together with architectural plans, public records, and interviews with former AT&T employees conducted for this article — they provide compelling evidence that 33 Thomas Street has served as an NSA surveillance site, code-named TITANPOINTE.

Inside 33 Thomas Street there is a major international “gateway switch,” according to a former AT&T engineer, which routes phone calls between the United States and countries across the world. A series of top-secret NSA memos suggest that the agency has tapped into these calls from a secure facility within the AT&T building. The Manhattan skyscraper appears to be a core location used for a controversial NSA surveillance program that has targeted the communications of the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and at least 38 countries, including close U.S. allies such as Germany, Japan, and France.”

The skyscraper, which is a looming dark shadow unlit at night, was designed by John Carl Warnecke, a prominent architect in government circles, including the U.S. Navy and embassy complexes.

Warnecke’s Project X was borne of a secret program code-named BLARNEY that began in the 1970s, where NSA began developing “commercial partnerships” for spying activities, according to a newly published Snowden document.

It was likely used to target anti-Vietnam War activists and a host of “domestic terrorist and foreign radical” suspects such as Martin Luther King and certain American journalists. A Congressional inquiry in 1975 found the NSA invaded privacy and violated Constitutional rights, which resulted in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act meant to rein in the agency’s abuses.

BLARNEY remained a critical part of NSA’s electronic intercept capabilities at least into 2013, when Snowden revealed the program.

“BLARNEY leverages ‘commercial partnerships’ in order to ‘gain access and exploit foreign intelligence obtained from global networks,’ the document states. It carries out full take surveillance — a term that refers to the bulk collection of both content and metadata — under six different categories: counterproliferation, counterterrorism, diplomatic, economic, military, and political.”

TITANPOINTE is one of three “core sites” of the BLARNEY program. There it links to AT&T routers and operates powerful satellite antennae on the roof, which vacuum up internet data passing through foreign satellites in another secret programs known as SKIDROWE.

It is unclear whether NSA can directly tap in to AT&T’s communications at will, but the telecom giant has long been a willing partner to the surveillance state. As early as 1976, AT&T was shielded from scrutiny by President Ford, who called the company “an agent of the United States acting under contract with the Executive Branch.”

The NSA talked of AT&T’s “extreme willingness to help” in collecting billions of emails, at a time when revelations of domestic surveillance and warrantless wiretapping gripped the nation.

“This is yet more proof that our communications service providers have become, whether willingly or unwillingly, an arm of the surveillance state,” said Elizabeth Goitein, co-director of the liberty and national security program at the Brennan Center for Justice. “The NSA is presumably operating under authorities that enable it to target foreigners, but the fact that it is so deeply embedded in our domestic communications infrastructure should tip people off that the effects of this kind of surveillance cannot be neatly limited to non-Americans.”

The dark, foreboding look of TITANPOINTE fits well with its long history of rights violations, in the name of advancing U.S. hegemony through war-making and economic and political sabotage.

The Watchlist Gun Bans Begin: Obama Enlists Governors to Bypass Congress: “By Executive Order”

Now governors are abusing executive orders to trample on the 2nd Amendment as well.

With strong resistance in Congress to gun control measures, Obama has taken to working outside his constitutional authority yet again.

But he, his pen and his phone, are not alone this time.

To bring teeth to his pending executive orders, President Obama is working to enlist the help of many of the state governors who he hopes will sign their own executive orders.

To that end, Gov. Dannel Malloy in Connecticut is taking the first plunge in this end run around that pesky Constitution and Bill of Rights. Of course, Connecticut, home to the Sandy Hook shootings, has already seen its gun rights eviscerated:

NBC Connecticut reports:

Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy plans to sign the first executive order in the nation to ban the sales of guns to people on federal government watch lists.

“We intend to prevent, by executive order through my powers as governor, those on government watch lists from obtaining a permit to purchase a firearm in Connecticut,” the Democratic governor said in a news conference Thursday.

Anyone who wishes to buy a gun in Connecticut must first apply for a permit from a public safety agency, then a thorough background check is conducted, Malloy said.

“The executive order would add an additional level of protection and require those who apply for a permit to be screened against government watch lists,” Malloy said during the news conference.

It’s not clear how many people this executive order would cover, but the governor said he has reason to believe people living in the state are on watch lists and the state should be in a position to deny permits to those individuals.

The state created some of the strictest gun laws in the country after 20 students and six educators were killed in a 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Those laws banned assault weapons in Connecticut.

Gov. Malloy also discussed his intent to take away legally-purchased guns from owners on the watch list, as well, though others in Connecticut are already questioning his legal authority to do enact any of these policies. (See video here)

As SHTF explained the other day, the federal No Fly terror watch list is one of the worst instruments that could possibly be used. Firstly, it is has never stopped a terrorist from acting, though some may have been indentified ahead of time[…]

Missouri Student Data Collection System

Missouri Education Watchdog by Anne Gassel

A recently released cyber audit of DESE’s student data system (MOSIS) revealed several weaknesses that MO State Auditor Galloway said placed 1.5 million current and former students’ personal information, such as social security numbers, at cyber risk.

The report noted that the state has “no business reason” for collecting social security numbers. Galloway takes a strong position on data security. In a statement to KCUR she said, “We need to be proactive to be sure to limit the collection of that data if it’s not necessary and then be proactive in protecting it to make sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.” This is exactly what SB530 (Onder – Dist 2), filed but never passed out of the Senate Education Committee last year, attempted to do […]

An Oregon circuit judge is under fire for refusing to perform same-sex marriages based on his religious beliefs.

Marion County circuit court judge, Judge Vance Day, a former chair of the Oregon Republican Party under attack is being accused of discrimination in that he performed heterosexual marriages.

Day is alleged to have instructed his staff to (a) “inform couples that the judge will not perform same-sex marriages”; and (b) “refer same-sex couples to other Marion County judges willing to issue them a marriage license.”

In another example or religious persecution in America, Judge Day’s decision based on his faith has led to an ethics investigation by the Oregon Commission on Judicial Fitness.

Oregon Live

Marion County Circuit Judge Vance Day, a former chairman of the Oregon Republican Party, took steps Thursday to create a legal defense fund in an apparent response to his decision not to perform same-sex marriage ceremonies.

Day took action because of what he described as “deeply-held religious beliefs,” KGW reported.

“It’s an exercise of his religious freedom rights under the First Amendment,” Day spokesman Patrick Korten told the news station.

In recent months, Day has not performed any marriage ceremonies, KGW reported. His courtroom is in Salem….

Syndicated columnist Mark Shields and New York Times columnist David Brooks join Judy Woodruff to discuss the Republican domination in the midterm elections, the impact of voter turnout, which policy items might offer opportunities for compromise and which might be political land mines.

Transcript:

DAVID BROOKS, NEW YORK TIMES: Well, politically, they obviously made a mistake by thinking demographics could carry them along the way and they didn’t actually need issues. And that was a consultants’ fantasy. And that hurt the Democrats.

On President Obama, the immigration thing is important. I support the idea of giving all these people this new status. But doing it by executive functioning — function, executive action, redefining the status of millions of people without a law, without going through the normal process, that strikes me as an extreme abuse of executive power, whether you support it on policy or not.

And that is why that particular action that he’s talking about is so confrontational, because it’s not only policy a lot of Republicans object to it. But as members of Congress, they object to it.
