So that backward glance to the 1960s reveals that what we thought was just a blip in our history— Yankee imperialism, force-feeding Christianity on non-Christian cultures (trust me, I heard it all), and the best gag of all, our warmongering being forced on a culture of youth who only wanted to groove and get in touch with whatever visions peyote buds could produce. Yeah, man!

Fifty years later, we’ve seen those innocent children of the sun morph into the most vicious cultural nihilists since Adolf Hitler set loose the storm-trooper hounds on the people of Germany in the decade befote he launched the Second World War.

A few weeks ago I asked the question, what is it that causes a man to join the army, and risk his neck. when he doesn’t have to?

Our Allen Ness, the real sojur of this VeteransTales enterprise, replied that patriotism as I had it described in school in the 60s, had little to do with it; Pledge of Allegiance from 4th grade on, Sunday School about right and wrong, stories of American heroes, Washington, Franklin, Lincoln, in Social Studies, American civics in 9th grade, American History and American Government 11th-12th grade.

What I didn’t know was that Allen, a school kid in the 80s, in all likelihood had very little of the patriotic nature of America ever taught to him in the first place.

Get this: For over 30 years American school children in public schools have never heard the phrase “we hold these truths to be self-evident”! Still, let me tell you what some Soviet law professors did when they heard those lines for the first time in 1991.

How President Trump Supporters Now Can Best Help President Donald Trump And Themselves To Make America Great Again

The following is an essay written by Cold Warrior over at Unified Patriots which pretty much says it all.  Those of us who support President Donald Trump must act to take down those standing in the way of his agenda.

The war that the Progressive establishment on both the left and the right has declared on our President is also a declaration of war on the American people.

It is our duty as citizens to protect and to act.

It will take more than going to rallies. And not a lot of time. If the effort is focused and smart.

President Donald Trump is the nominal head of the Republican Party. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, Republicans In Name Only, #CampaignConservatives and #Chambercrats, pretend to support the President’s agenda. They do not. As do not many of the #FakeConservatives in the U.S. House and Senate facing re-election in 2018. Their current actions (or, perhaps, inaction) speak louder than words.

No?

Just as the fake Republicans in the House and Senate do not support President Trump, the Republicans In Name Only who populate many of the elected 168 member slots of the Republican National Committee (“RNC”) (that includes the chairmen of the state parties and the territories and their national committeemen and national committeewomen) are trying to sabotage President Trump’s agenda. That effort is in full view of any objective observer.

Ought we not replace these incumbent Republicans In Name Only? To ask the question is to answer it. Of course we must. So . . . how to do it? By going to rallies? By commenting on a blog?

No. That will not do it. We need to focus on getting Trump supporters to actually vote in the primary election and then the general election.

We conservatives who support President Donald J. Trump need to unite and organize for real political action where we live “inside” the Republican Party apparatus to be in a position to make sure that the best conservative candidate in the all-important, traditionally, very-low-turnout primary election, gets the most votes.

I know how to make that happen. It does not take more than two or three hours a month.

Can you sacrifice that amount of time?

My brother Tom tells me that whenever he asks for volunteers back in our hometown for anything of a civic nature, the two most common excuses are, “I’m too busy” and “I don’t have enough time.”

Tucker Carlson Meets Richard Dreyfuss, The Urgency of the Baby Boomers

They shook hands.

I confess I was surprised, but both men dispelled a general belief many hold about them as types. So I hope people came away edified.

Tucker is a few months older than my oldest son, Generation X, and both comprise only a handful from that generation I consider to be wise. Richard Dreyfuss is a couple of years my junior, so is a Baby Boomer. I had always assumed him to be a liberal, but if he is, he is likely not of the left, even though he has had for many years carried the morose, humorless disapproving look of a Pilgrim which most identifies the Left today.

So, much to my delight, as it seemed for Tucker Carlson, Richard Dreyfuss turned out to be a genuine constitutionalist.

Moreover, Dreyfuss brought to the discussion insights Carlson’s generation cannot claim, even though, yes, he is also over 30…meaning he, like my son, graduated college before Bill Clinton moved into the White House, and know who Monica Lewinsky is without having to look her up on Wikipedia.

Still, they have no first-hand knowledge about certain laws of generations and how the culture is passed on, and with it, in America’s case, the blueprint of individual freedom.

You see, this absence of Civics in young Americans’ core education experience is much more than just a topic of discussion for a 6-minute segment of a news opinion show. Richard Dreyfuss has given Civics, rather its absence, the attention it deserves, and I have no doubt that the fear dwells inside him that he may still be playing small ball with his DreyfussCivicsInitiative, and that time may indeed be short if we don’t attack the problem on a much larger scale, and quickly…or like Guam, we may be only a generation away from tipping over and sinking into the sea[…]
