Every week, the WoW! community and our invited guests weigh in at the Watcher’s Forum, short takes on a major issue of the day, the culture, or daily living. This week’s question:Who Wins The War Between Trump And California’s Sanctuary Policies?

Dave Schuler:Honestly, I have no idea. I think that while it’s possible for the federal government to win the fight it’s likely that California will. It’s also possible that California’s politicians will overreach, make a misstep, the president will invoke the Insurrection Act, and California’s state government will be removed.

I think it’s clear that California is presently an outlier in an number of ways ranging from politics to demographics to economy. Under the circumstances just about anything can happen.

Rob Miller : First, it’s important to look at the real issue here. And it isn’t some kind of humanitarian ‘immigration’ issue. It’s about ethnic politics and political power.

Over the past three decades or so, the state’s population has largely been deliberately replaced, especially in the coastal areas where the population is. It was done using open borders, sky high taxes, massive and complex ‘regulations’ on businesses and punitive laws favoring illegal migrants and ‘takers’ rather than makers.

Well funded political organizations like MeCHA, La Raza and MALDEF based on creating and exploiting ethnic grievance also played a role. As things rolled along, laws making it easy for voter fraud to occur and for illegal migrants to vote have exacerbated things. Meanwhile, small business owners, new college graduates, and many working families have simply left because of the artificially created high cost of living and doing business. Large corporations are also starting to leave the not-so-Golden State, because of the high taxation, strangling regulations and the difficulty in attracting employees because the high cost of housing and daily living. Even Silicon Valley has started to move to places like Boise, Idaho,Texas, Phoenix and Colorado among other places.

My point is that this is a political issue that has nothing to do with immigration or humanitarianism.

So who wins? Well, the Constitution says plainly that immigration is one of those powers the Federal Government has reserved for itself, like coining money or issuing postage stamps. Since California’s sanctuary laws are in violation of federal immigration laws, it would seem that once this gets to the Supreme Court, if it does, that President Trump wins this one. However, since a lot of appellate judges, especially Obama’s appointees seem far more concerned with political posturing rather than the law, it’s likely to be a real cobra vs. mongoose battle.

One thing the president could do to bring things to a head is to send federal marshals to Oakland to arrest the mayor, Libby Schaaf for obstruction of justice (a felony) prosecute her, and sentence her to a jail term. Ms. Schaaf is the mayor who warned illegal migrants of ICE activities that she was informed of in advance by ICE. Because of her actions, an estimated 800 illegal migrants with felony convictions are still running around loose. I believe that putting a few examples like Ms. Schaaf in prison would do a great deal to end this standoff, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if President Trump does just that. If I were placing a bet, I’d put it on President Trump to win this one.

Fun fact: It’s no secret that one of the Supreme Court justices is planning to retire this summer, and the name that keeps being mentioned is 81-year-old Anthony Kennedy. A Trump nominated justice definitely affect how this goes.

Laura Rambeau Lee: The majority of Americans understand we have a very real problem with illegal immigrants who have entered and are continuing to enter our country. They are undermining the fabric of our society; driving down wages for low income and mostly minority workers; and bankrupting our states with the additional costs expended for education, medical care, and other government entitlements paid out to them. It seems daily we are hearing reports of illegal immigrants committing crimes against American citizens and getting away with them. All too often our system is protecting the criminals and not delivering justice to the victims.

This battle being fought between the Justice Department and the State of California presents a constitutional crisis for our country. California has officially become a sanctuary state and recently passed three laws which the Justice Department says violate the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution. California’s Attorney General Xavier Becerra, a son of legal Mexican immigrants, not only refuses to comply with federal immigration policies, he recently asserted his department would prosecute any business that willingly complies with federal law by allowing federal immigration officers on their property.

Putting an end to illegal immigration was the primary issue of Trump’s campaign and the reason he won. We know the majority of Americans are behind him and his efforts to build the wall, end illegal immigration, and find an acceptable solution to deal with the illegal immigrants already living here.

The federal government must win this war.

Whenever the detestable, nefarious deeds and lascivious behavior of Progressives towards those over which the left claims dominion takes over the news cycle for an extended period, the Communist media complex can no longer ignore it.

Thus, deep state media minstrels will create or search out a distraction that would shift reports about the detestable, nefarious deeds and lascivious behavior of Progressive bureaucrats to the back burner.

At the same time, the Communist media complex relishes dredging up reports of similar deeds and activities by Republicans even pay off accusers to build upon their propaganda.

Deep state minstrels relish spinning and rehashing fake news about a non-existent Trump/Russia collusion, just when President Donald J. Trump is on the brink of another major achievement (front page newsworthy) in his presidency.

In each instance, dirty cop Robert Mueller or someone in his camp leaks another meaningless tidbit presenting deep state media minstrels with an excuse to move newsworthy events totally off the radar and more spin.

Case in point: Why is Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, the Podesta brothers, members of the deep state including Robert Mueller’s role in the Uranium One deal being downplayed by the Communist media complex and the Department of Justice?

Why hasn’t Barack Obama’s shadowing of President Trump across the globe made the news cycle?  One would expect Obama’s travels to be near the top of the news cycle since the media loves him so much.  What’s up with that?

Could it be that Americans might question Obama’s objectives, the existence of Obama’s shadow government and the treasonous activities of a deep state’s not so silent coup against a sitting president under order of a former sitting president?

Although hard to believe that Washington, D. C. could become any grimier, under Barack Obama, the corruption in Washington, D.C. became a crisis of historical proportion and swamp critters love it.

Robert Mueller, a former director of the FBI who is working as a special prosecutor “investigating” a contrived hoax designed by the military/security complex and the DNC to destroy the Trump presidency, has yet to produce a scrap of evidence that Russiagate is anything but orchestrated fake news. As William Binney and other top experts have said, if there is evidence of Russiagate, the NSA would have it. No investigation would be necessary. So where is the evidence?

Why are the clearly false charges against Trump being investigated and the clearly true charges against Hillary not being investigated? The answer is that Hillary with her hostility toward Russia and her denunciation of Russian President Putin as the “New Hitler” is not a threat to the budget and power of the US military/security complex, while Trump’s aim of normalizing relations with Russia would deprive the military/security complex of the “enemy” it requires to justify its massive budget and power.

Why hasn’t President Trump ordered the Justice Department to investigate Hillary? Is the answer that Trump is afraid the military/security complex will assassinate him? Why hasn’t the Justice Department undertaken the investigation on its own? Is the answer that Trump’s government is allied with his enemies?

How corrupt does Mueller have to be to agree to lead a fake investigation designed to overthrow the democratic election of the President of the United States? Why doesn’t Trump have Mueller and Comey arrested for sedition and conspiring to overthrow the president of the United States?

Why instead is Mueller expanding his investigation beyond his mandate and bringing charges against Manafort and others for decade-old under-reporting of income? Why instead is Congress harassing journalist Randy Credico for interviewing Julian Assange? How does an interview become part of the House Intelligence (sic) Committee’s investigation into “Russian active measures directed at the 2016 U.S. election?” There were no such active measures, but the uranium sale was real[…]

On the occasion of the Democratic Party sweep of Virginia, I want to once again remind readers of one very salient fact:

Bureaucracy Kills

And at the heart of the changing demographics in Virginia has been the expanding growth of the federal bureaucracy the past 35 years, spilling over the river from the District of Columbia into the abutting northern Virginia and south-central Maryland counties.

There is much the Republican Party could have done to thwart this for years, only, as it seems clear now, the national GOP have benefited from the existence of these several hundred thousands of additional federal employees. In short, the federal bureaucracy is the Congress’ primary constituency, a fact Ronald Reagan recognized when he realized he could do very little about it without strong backing from Republicans with strong backs in the Congress …which it appears, in nature, doesn’t really exist. (Reagan said not attending to the bureaucracy was one of his greatest regrets.)

In Virginia and Maryland this demographic has become dangerous, since, in Art 1, Sec 8, the District was established to house the people who would work for the federal government, so as to deny them electoral power because of that special relationship they would have with their paymasters.

In looking at their growth from 1980 to 2000, the bulk of it was made up of people who worked for government, but during Obama, much of that growth was extended to “those who work for those who work for government” i.e, domestic labor.

The Case Against Criminal Charges For Hillary Clinton

I want to renew a call I made in the days just after the election, that trying and convicting Hillary Clinton for the long list of crimes she stands accused of doing may not be the best way to deal with her. Especially her legacy.

I mean this in the purest sense of wanting to punish her. Deterrence is not part of a my thinking here.

Parts of the conservative pundit class, Lou Dobbs and Sean Hannity high among them, have been beside themselves that the FBI, still without a director and a new direction, and even Jeff Sessions himself, have not moved on Mrs Clinton for what are clearly crimes with an abundance of evidence.

But to what end?

Let Hillary be indicted and there will ten times the crowds at the courthouse to cheer her on than ever bothered to listen to one of her dreary speeches on the stump. Yes, they will be paid, but the optics will be all that matters in compiling an historic record.

Probably already heavily medicated, including various self-medications, and “feeling sorry for herself” does not even begin to describe Hillary sense of betrayal and loss. Right now her self-pity is limitless and she has not even begun the journey backwards in time to see where, or when, she went wrong. Self-reflection is not among her attributes.

But turn Hillary into a public martyr and she may well become refreshed and rise above her despondence, especially if she senses that even if convicted her punishment could end up with, at the worst, a short sentence at one of the feds’ more exclusive minimum security lock-ups, possibly home arrest, or maybe even probation. Her ability to venue shop and cut deals could prove prodigious.

Bill’s latest lie: Clinton Foundation won’t take foreign donations if Hillary’s elected.

On Thursday, at a meeting with staffers, Bill Clinton announced that if Hillary Clinton is elected, the Clinton Foundation would no longer accept receive donations from foreign enemies entities, governments, corporate charities and domestic or foreign corporations, all of whom might will return later seeking favors from the Oval Office.

Clinton who anticipates his resignation from the foundation’s board contends that the Clinton foundation would only accept donations from independent charities and American citizens.

Oh and if you’re asking yourself, “what about the paid speeches?” Well, the Clintons supposedly will hold off on delivering paid speeches until “after the November elections.”

Of course, all of the above is incumbent upon whether or not Hillary Clinton is elected which brings the last paragraph into question but not so much since Clinton’s remarks are an admission of guilt that pre-dates Hillary Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State by more than a decade AND includes Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State to present day.

IF? That was THURSDAY when the cameras were rolling but TODAY is SATURDAY, the cameras are not; and with the latter being the case, according to Yahoo-Reuters News the Clinton Foundation NOT weighing its options because there were none to begin with is skirting with the continued acceptance (if Clinton is elected) by the Clinton Foundation of hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign donations.

Translation: “Come on’ in boys, America is for sale to the highest bidder and there’s plenty of space in the Lincoln bedroom for everyone.”

Ah, those platform promises but Bill Clinton said Thursday. Yeah well…. the new guidelines would take about a year for the Clinton Foundation to work out. Besides, only a small part of the foundation’s work would be affected, like climate change,  work on economic development and the like.

More about “and the like,” offshoots of the Clinton Foundation such as Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership (Canada) are being fundamentally transformed into independent entities (if Clinton is elected?) and will not be bound by the Clinton Foundation’s donor limits.

Not buying it are you? Well, you shouldn’t because in the name of the greater good (that’s how Progressives roll):

CHAI files separate tax returns from the Clinton Foundation, but is included in the foundation’s audited expenses, annual reports and other promotional literature….

The Clintons who has never been held accountable for anything and who again lied to voters on camera just two days ago will continue their ponzi schemes, questionable fundraising tactics, money laundering operation for dictators, the worst violators of human rights across the planet and America’s enemies while lining their pockets with blood money.

Bill Clinton spoke too soon last week when he called his wife’s email scandal: ‘the biggest load of bull I ever heard.’   Thursday’s dog and pony show has taken the prize for being the biggest load of bull that anyone has heard brought to American voters courtesy of 1209 North Orange Street, Wilmington Delaware, epic center of the Clinton Crime Family Syndicate and official address for over 285,000 companies in particular WJC, LLC which happens to be a shell company set up in 2008 by Bill Clinton to shield consulting fees and ZFS Holdings, LLC set up in 2013 exactly one week after Hillary left the State Department.

The State Department inspector general plans to review a controversial program that allowed a longtime Hillary Clinton aide to work for a private firm at the same time she was working for the former secretary of state.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who originally sought a probe of Huma Abedin’s job status citing conflict of interest concerns, revealed the development on Friday – releasing a letter from Inspector General Steve Linick confirming the review….

Grassley Welcomes State Department Inspector General Decision to Review Use of the Special Government Employee Program

WASHINGTON – Sen. Chuck Grassley today welcomed confirmation from the State Department Office of Inspector General that the inspector general will review the department’s use of the Special Government Employee program.

;This program is meant to be used in a limited way to give the government special expertise it can’t get otherwise,’ Grassley said. ‘Is the program working the way it’s intended at the State Department or has it been turned on its head and used in ways completely unrelated to its purpose? An independent analysis will help to answer the question. An inspector general review is necessary. Available information suggests that in at least one case, the State Department gave the special status for employee convenience, not public benefit.’

In response to Grassley’s request, State Department Inspector General Steve Linick confirmed his office ‘intends to examine the Department’s SGE program to determine if it conforms to applicable legal and policy requirements, including whether or not the program, as implemented, includes safeguards against conflicts of interest.’

Grassley is concerned about potential conflicts of interest arising from a top State Department employee, Huma Abedin, who worked for both the government as a Special Government Employee and an outside firm, Teneo, at the same time. His concerns date from 2013, when he wrote to the State Department and 15 other agencies about their use of the Special Government Employee program. The State Department never fulfilled his request for all communications between the State Department and Teneo. He reiterated that request last month in light of revelations of private email use by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and reportedly Abedin.
