Earlier today while Floridians are being pounded by Hurricane Irma, a bunch of thugs thought it was the perfect time to loot a sneaker store. The crime was caught by television news cameras. The looters did not get far.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale police arrested 9 people caught by Local 10 cameras looting Fort Lauderdale business despite the dangerous winds and heavy rain from Hurricane Irma
Local 10 cameras caught a group breaking into the Simon’s Sportswear on Sunrise Blvd. and Powerline Road.
The group of about 8-9 people broke through the front window and were seen walking in and then walking out with stolen items.
The group then began looting a Footlocker and CashAmerica Pawn Store in the same area.
Hours later, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department tweeted that they had caught the criminals[…]
Orlando, Florida got hit too.
And then there’s St. Martin. Hurricane Irma hit very hard this island very hard just short of total destruction yet there are those who wasted no time to take advantage of a good crisis.
St. Martin appears to have transformed into South Africa overnight.
The island has evolved into chaos with businesses have been gutted, thugs up to no good are carrying revolvers and machetes.
|Dutch seek to restore security amid looting on St Martin
“There are people on the streets armed with revolvers and machetes,” one witness told the Dutch daily newspaper AD on Friday.
“The situation is very serious. No one is in charge.”
“We will not abandon Sint Maarten,” Rutte vowed, adding officials were also sending medicines, tents, tarpaulins, building materials and hygiene kits as fast as possible to the Caribbean.
“The military has two tasks after arriving there. Firstly to ensure that there is food and water, but also to ensure security,” Rutte said.
Dutch officials have confirmed that two people were killed, and 43 wounded, 11 of them seriously, on the Dutch part of St Martin by the Category Five storm, before it was downgraded Friday to a four as it barrelled towards Cuba and Florida…
I grew up in the hood where there was rioting and looting in the 60’s, early 70’s and during the blackouts in New York City. The poor and working middle class and businesses in those communities pay the price.
Can’t imagine what tonight will be like in Florida, Georgia and wherever else Irma touches down.
How to handle these thugs when you catch then looting? Just ask Sheriff David Clarke:

I want the arraignment televised. I can see and hear the judge. “Tell me the story…. inquiring minds.”.
