Thousands of mourners continue to pour in today paying their respects to the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia who lies in repose in the Great Hall of the U. S. Supreme court.
Members of Congress are paying their respects to Justice Scalia whose casket rests on the Lincoln Catafalque.
As is tradition, Scalia’s former law clerks will stand vigil in groups of four over the casket taking turns every 30 minutes today and throughout the tonight.
In spite of the frigid temperatures, mourners are waiting on line for as long as 2 to 2 ½ hours to pay their respects. As such, the Supreme Court has extended visitation hours until 9 p.m.
Justice Antonin Scalia lies in repose in the Supreme Court’s Great Hall today in the first of two days of public mourning over the late associate justice, who died unexpectedly last weekend.
The flag-draped casket carrying Scalia’s body arrived at the court just before 9:30 a.m. and was carried slowly up the steps by court police, who served as pallbearers, and passed through two lines of former clerks, who served as honorary pallbearers.
The other justices stood in a receiving line inside the Great Hall, standing solemnly as the casket was laid on the same catafalque upon which President Abraham Lincoln’s casket once rested….

Today has been a very sad day. It was a profound honor to stand vigil by Justice Scalia as he returned to the Court for the last time.
