UPDATE ON PHIL:
It is with a heavy heart that I bring to you the news that our dear friend Phil passed away this morning.
Phil went into cardiac arrest again while hospital staff attempted to bring his body temperatures up and this time they could not resuscitate him.
We’re going to miss Grumpy. He was a friend, patriot, veteran and one heck of a warrior on social media. On a personal note, I will miss our chat sessions.
Sympathies and blessings to Phil’s family, friends and loved ones.
God bless you, Phil. Rest in peace, my friend.

I became acquainted with Phil through your blog. Phil and I had both spent the miserable winter of ’66 at Ft. Jackson, SC. Later, we’d both spent an equally miserable time in the mud during NATO training exercises at Grafenwohr, Germany. So, even though we’d never met personally, like all army vets with shared experiences, it felt as if we’d known each other for years. Consequently, the news of his passing hit me the same as if I’d lost a friend I’d known for almost 50 years. Grumpy will be missed.

Oh yes, he told me about Grafenwohr, Germany. I couldn’t remember who else was there. I’m missing his phone calls. We would speak about 3 times a week, at least and some times for hours. Loved the way he said, “well hello there, young lady.” Never thought those words would mean so much.
