Late this afternoon Duke University reversed its plan to have the Muslim call to prayer from the university’s chapel bell tower after widespread outrage and pressure from Reverend Franklin Graham calling on alumni and donors to withhold their support from Duke until the university reverses its policy. As noted on Duke’s Facebook page, call to prayer has been relocated to a “quadrangle outside the Chapel.”

Sponsored Proselytization: Duke University has decided to permit the Muslim call to prayer aka “adhan” to be chanted weekly (every Friday) from the university’s bell tower beginning tomorrow.

Reverend Franklin Graham, in a Facebook post, is calling alumni and donors to withhold their support from Duke until the university reverses its policy.

Duke University announced today that they will have a Muslim call to prayer from their chapel bell tower every Friday. As Christianity is being excluded from the public square and followers of Islam are raping, butchering, and beheading Christians, Jews, and anyone who doesn’t submit to their Sharia Islamic law, Duke is promoting this in the name of religious pluralism. I call on the donors and alumni to withhold their support from Duke until this policy is reversed.

As expected Duke University, attempted to justify their decision by playing up their role .

The chant, called the ‘adhan,’ announces the start of the group’s jummah prayer service, which takes place in the chapel basement each Friday at 1 p.m. The service is open to the public.

The chant lasts about three minutes and will be moderately amplified….

‘This opportunity represents a larger commitment to religious pluralism that is at the heart of Duke’s mission,’ added Christy Lohr Sapp, the chapel’s associate dean for religious life. ‘It connects the university to national trends in religious accommodation.’

Muslim students at Duke are supported by the university through the Office of Student Affairs’ Muslim Life department, which hosts religious services, community service projects and interfaith events. The Center for Muslim Life provides on-campus social and spiritual meeting spaces for students as well as opportunities for counseling and advising….

NOTE:

“The chant lasts about three minutes and will be moderately amplified…”

What that means is that the call to prayer will be heard for miles throughout Durham, North Carolina. Anyone who complains will be labeled an Islamaphobe.

According to Duke MSA’s Facebook page, the call to prayer will be chanted in Arabic followed by an English translation.

One more stake shove through the heart of America, this is a major coup d’état for Duke’s Muslim Students Association who as reported by Discover the Networks has some nefarious connections.

The Muslim Students Association of the United States and Canada, or MSA (also known as MSA National), was established mainly by members of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) in January 1963 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Nyack College theologian Larry A. Poston writes that ‘many of the founding members of this agency [MSA] were members of, or had connections to,’ the Muslim Brotherhood or Jamaat-i-Islami. The three most significant founders of MSA were Hisham al Talib, Jamal Barzinji, and Ahmed Totanji, and all of whom were MB leaders of Iraqi descent. Other noteworthy individuals who served as early co-founders of MSA were Mahboob Khan and Malika Khan….

MSA, funded by the Saudis pushing an anti-American, anti-Semitic agenda asserts that its mission is “to MSA presents itself as an apolitical, religious and cultural organization.” Talking points, merely talking points. Correction: Taqqiya.

In reality it is a radical political force and a key lobbying organization for the Wahhabi sect of Islam, telling students that America is an imperialist power and Israel an oppressor nation. MSA speakers routinely spew anti-Semitic libels and justify the genocide against the Jews which is promoted by Islamic terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah and by the government of Iran….

The Center for Security Policy’s Alex Alexiev states:

‘The majority of Muslim Student Associations at U.S. colleges are dominated by Islamist and anti-American agendas, as are most of the numerous Islamic centers and schools financed by the Saudis….’

Finally, the real issue here as pointed out by Redstate:

The objection should not be to the call to prayer, per se, so long as Duke rings an Angelus bell, but to the blatant, school sponsored proselytizing that it is permitting by making the call also in English. Something that is not done in mosques in the United States.
