AOL, Apple, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Twitter, and Yahoo have formed the “Reform Government Surveillance” coalition, to begin what could be a serious anti-NSA lobbyist effort in Washington. Whether the effort is a credible one or one for appearances or not time will tell. The group retained Monument Policy Group (MPG), which has represented LinkedIn and Microsoft in the past. Can’t help it, the fact that Stewart Verdery, formerly of Department of Homeland Security heading MPG leads me to believe that it is all merely an illusion.
Time, of course, will either prove me wrong or vindicate me.
