UPDATED:  Have you noticed how Progressives do not mind fact checking as long as they are the ones doing it?

Clearly, my post and the article from Breitbart have touched on more than a few nerves. Thus, I thought that I post the following.

Since we all view the world through a different set of lenses, I expect the following information to inflame certain individuals further.  Nevertheless, here it is.

Michelle’s Masterfully Delivered Speech Weaved Total Myth of Personal Struggle

“… It’s sort of a no-win position, but she and Barack did not come from poverty, folks.  They didn’t face deep ‘struggh-les.’

Michelle’s dad, in the ’70s, his name was Fraser Robinson, and he was a pump operator at the Chicago city water plant.  It’s been said that he earned 50, $55,000 back in the ’70s.  I went to the inflation calculator.  Do you know what $50,000 in the 1970s is equivalent to today? $282,000.  I left home at age 20 and I was making $12,000, 13,000 a year.  I also made that in 1980.  Regardless, it’s the equivalent of $282,000 a year.  Her dad was a Democrat precinct captain in the Daily Machine.  He was political.  He was a ward healer.  And her mother, Marian Robinson, was a long-time secretary at Spiegel’s, the catalog store.  I get so, frankly, worn out with this incessant need to try to convince people that you came from nothing, because the problem with it is we want to attach virtue to that, which, of course, it deserves.  But there’s a problem, and that is that somehow now if you’re not born to the ‘strugg-hle,’ then whatever you have is illegitimate.

If you’re born upper middle class, if you happen to be born in an upper income level, somehow your accomplishments and your achievements, they just aren’t the same. It’s all part of this class warfare stuff that tears this country apart.  So this incessant need to fabricate the ‘strugg-hles’ and the hardship you come from, hers wasn’t that tough….”

Finally, I discussed MO’s speech with quite a number of folks, friends and associates in my community and NOBODY IS BUYING what the Obama’s are selling.

“First Lady Michelle Obama’s pitch to voters last night relied on the premise that she and her husband understand what it is to struggle to make ends meet. She spoke movingly about their early years–about how a young Barack Obama drove a car that was ‘rusted out’ and found his furniture ‘in a dumpster,’ how they both came from families that had to ‘scrape by.’ Her fairy tale–however well-delivered–was one great, big, colorful lie.

Both Michelle Robinson and Barack Obama began their adult lives with a leg up on the rest of America. They attended elite schools: Michelle went to Whitney Young, the public magnet school for Chicago’s upper class, while Barack attended Punahou, the private prep school for the top stratum of Hawaiian society. They were accepted to Ivy League schools despite undistinguished credentials, and both attended Harvard Law School.

‘[B]elieve it or not, when we were first married, our combined monthly student loan bills were actually higher than our mortgage,’ Michelle said. That sounds like a raw deal–but in fact reflects their fortunate circumstances. They had both just graduated from a very expensive law school, and their combined income from cushy law firm jobs dwarfed the repayments….”

I have no tolerance for liars, that which Progressives are big on but facts are stubborn things.

Hey Michelle – Why You Lyin’ About Barack’s Grandmother Like That???

“Of the many ‘stretched truths’ told by Michelle Obama on the opening evening of the DNC convention, one line in particular jumped out as blatantly misleading, further emphasizing how easily the Obama’s paint a picture that rarely resembles reality…

… ‘When it comes to rebuilding our economy, Barack is thinking about folks like my dad — who worked at a municipal water plant — and his own grandmother, a bank secretary,’ the first lady said.

Hmmmm…either Michelle Obama is unaware of the well known history of her husband’s grandmother – or she is purposely misleading the American public with her description of Barack Obama’s grandmother as ‘bank secretary’.   Madelyn Dunham, the Obama matriarch whose home Barack Obama moved into full time by the time he was in 5th grade and where he would reside until graduating high school some eight years later, was far more than a  mere ‘bank secretary’ as described by Michelle Obama.  Madelyn Dunham was in fact a bank vice president by the time young Barack moved into her home….”

The concept of truth means nothing to these people.   That along with the fact that the more the Obamas push that “I’m just like you guys” spiel, the less convincing they are.
