Barack Obama who makes no secret that his priority is being re-elected did not visit Louisiana until late Monday (Labor Day) after campaigning for a week cross-country. His visit also happens to be several days after Hurricane Isaac first touched down on U. S. soil.
NEW ORLEANS — Taking a detour from his campaign battleground tour, President Obama today surveyed a Louisiana neighborhood hit hard by the floods of Hurricane Isaac, reassuring victims of federal recovery aid and hailing the first responders who ensured no lives were lost.
Obama got a first-hand look at the devastation in St. John the Baptist Parish, one of the hardest hit in the storm, situated roughly 30 miles west of downtown New Orleans….”
In other words, the trip to Louisiana was like everything else, a photo op.
As for the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, forget about it. Barack does not have the time because he is too busy wasting jet fuel and taxpayer money on his re-election campaign.
Last Tuesday evening, Hurricane Isaac was just off the coast of Louisiana. It made landfall the following morning at 7 a.m. with winds of 75 miles per hour, or Category 1 strength.
From then on, it has been downhill for those in Isaac’s path, even after it was downgraded to a tropical storm.
Last week, Obama campaigned in Iowa, Ohio and Virginia and yesterday in Colorado but refused to make time to survey areas devastated by Hurricane/T.S. Isaac.
Several days later, areas affected by Isaac are still underwater and countless people are now homeless and unemployed. Moreover, while a nation prays for those caught in the path of Isaac, our misleader-in-chief remains focused on himself.
…Underscoring the importance of the youth vote to his campaign, Obama addressed students at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, on Tuesday before flying to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. He will round out the trip Wednesday at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville….
…’We’ve been getting ready for this storm for days,’ Obama said before an outdoor crowd standing in the shadow of Iowa State University’s campus clock tower. ‘We’ve got response teams and supplies in place. America will be there no matter what this storm brings, because no matter what disaster strikes, we are not Democrats first. We are not Republicans first. We are Americans first. We’re one family, and we help our neighbors in need….
“…One family…” “….help our neighbors in need….”
Forever the bullshit artist. Such words would mean something if Obama meant them.
‘….But Obama quickly pivoted to his stump speech, invoking feisty language to criticize Romney’s plans to roll back Obamacare and lower taxes on the wealthiest Americans….
The morning after the Republican National Convention (Friday), Mitt Romney flew to Louisiana.
“KENNER, La. — Just days after Hurricane Isaac made landfall in Louisiana, the intensifying presidential campaign arrived in full force Friday as Mitt Romney toured damaged areas…
….The White House announced Friday that President Obama would visit the area on Monday….
…On Friday, Romney met with residents and local officials in the town of Lafitte who were affected by the damage and briefly spoke with Jindal….”
So Progressives being the hypocrites that they are attacked Romney as if he did not have the right to fly to Louisiana to survey the devastation of Hurricane Isaac and more importantly, to divert attention away from the fact that Obama is ignoring the pain and the suffering of Americans affected by Hurricane/T.S. Isaac.
So where exactly was Waldo Obama when Romney was surveying the damage in Louisiana and meeting with officials and citizens?
As usual, the media has given Obama the pass that they refused to give GWB back in 2005 while at the same time lambasting Romney for doing the right thing.
If GWB had taken as long as Obama to get to Louisiana to view the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, all hell would have broken out.
Oh my bad, all hell did break out. Not denying that someone dropped the ball, George Bush who ordered a mandatory evacuation on Sunday, August 28th , eventually declared an emergency, did a fly over two days after Hurricane Katrina and revisited the areas devastated by Katrina several times thereafter was excoriated by Democrats and the press.
Another damned double standard and not the moment for it. Obama, Progressives and their team of propagandists are wrong and should be ashamed of themselves.
Obama should have been on the ground in Louisiana six days ago and how unsettling is it that Progressives are reporting that Isaac’s damage is nothing compared to that of Hurricane Katrina and how could they reach such a conclusion.
Can it be because there is a lack of dead bodies floating about? Surely, the images and news reports that I have seen tell a far different story as do those who have lost their homes and jobs in the wake of Hurricane/T.S. Isaac. As of this posting thousands of people are still without electricity.
