The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered its decision on the controversial ‘individual mandate‘ embedded in President Obama’s landmark healthcare bill, ruling that it is constitutional.
The court’s decision comes as a major defeat to those who have fought against the healthcare overhaul since before President Obama signed it into law in 2010. U.S. citizens are still legally required to purchase insurance via the federal government and the bill’s expansion of Medicaid, although now limited, still stands. This means roughly 30 millions of uninsured low-income Americans are still eligible for coverage through the bill’s expansion of the state-run entitlement program.
‘The bottom line: the entire ACA [Affordable Care Act] is upheld, with the exception that the federal government‘s power to terminate states’ Medicaid funds is narrowly read,’ SCOTUS Blog reports….
WHAT THIS DECISION MEANS IS STILL UNFOLDING……..WILL FOLLOW UP.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT OBAMACARE MUST AT ALL COSTS BE REPEALED.

IT IS CRUCIAL THAT OBAMA BE DEFEATED IN NOVEMBER. Just because Obamacare was ruled “constitutional” doesn’t mean its a good a law. Romney has promised that one of this first acts as President will be to dismantle Obamacare. Conservatives must keep control of the House and gain control of the Senate so we can get rid of this monstrosity of a job killer, economy killer, freedom killer law in its entirety.

Indeed Obama MUST go. That being said, I have no faith whatsoever that Mitt Romney will do the right thing. Nevertheless, I agree. We must retain control of the House while gaining control of the Senate. Nothing less will do.

What SCOTUS did was remove the mandate and put it on the back of the taxpayers. Also the states do not have to comply.
Get ready for a huge tax increase.

That is exactly what SCOTUS has done. In addition to the huge tax increase, we can expect even greater government expansion not to mention Obama’s police force aka the IRS to be all over the American people.

The individual mandate was upheld as a tax — they found that the federal government could not force individuals to purchase a product, but a penalty could be imposed if they opted not to purchase the product which is, in this case, private health insurance.

I agree Samiam. Shortly after I completed my post, I stepped out for a few hours to run some errands. A few of the folks I ran into I have been engaging for two years or more on the subject of Comrade Obama, his ideology and Obamacare. They too heard the ruling and the rationale behind said ruling. Needlesstosay, they are in shock, especially over the approval of the mandate as a tax. Trust me, Obama supporters never saw that one coming.
