“…U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D. (R-OK) today released a new oversight report, “Wastebook 2011″ that highlights over $6.5 billion in examples of some of the most egregious ways your taxpayer dollars were wasted. This report details 100 of the countless unnecessary, duplicative and low-priority projects spread throughout the federal government.
‘Video games, robot dragons, Christmas trees, and magic museums. This is not a Christmas wish list, these are just some of the ways the federal government spent your tax dollars. Over the past 12 months, politicians argued, debated and lamented about how to reign in the federal government’s out of control spending. All the while, Washington was on a shopping binge, spending money we do not have on things we do not absolutely need. Instead of cutting wasteful spending, nearly $2.5 billion was added each day in 2011 to our national debt, which now exceeds $15 trillion,’ Dr. Coburn said.
A select few of the dirty hundred:
• $75,000 to promote awareness about the role Michigan plays in producing Christmas trees & poinsettias.
• $15.3 million for one of the infamous Bridges to Nowhere in Alaska.
• $113,227 for video game preservation center in New York.
• $550,000 for a documentary about how rock music contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union.
• $48,700 for 2nd annual Hawaii Chocolate Festival, to promote Hawaii’s chocolate industry.
• $350,000 to support an International Art Exhibition in Venice, Italy.
• $10 million for a remake of “Sesame Street” for Pakistan.
• $35 million allocated for political party conventions in 2012.
• $765,828 to subsidize “pancakes for yuppies” in the nation’s capital.
• $764,825 to study how college students use mobile devices for social networking….”

Talk about wasteful spending. Where does it end?
Everyone from Obama down is asleep at the wheel or simply looking the other way.
Same old, same old. And the GOPers did not even post nor read the Ommnibus spending bill. Says it all. Message not received this past election.

Good afternoon and Merry Christmas.
So true. I honestly believe that the only answer is to kick all of these politicians out of office and to find a way to install “term limits.”
The disrespect by our politicians to the voters is unbelievable.

Hi D.
With all of the hype coming out of Washington and the MSM, voter’s minds are somewhat confused.
We need to regroup and take an assessment of who is running.

It’s a start.
Perry does not seem to me to be an elitist.
He is a successful governor of a large state.
So was Sarah Palin.
I would vote for a Perry/Palin ticket.
Whether Sarah is willing to throw her hat into the ring is up to her.
If Perry survives the primaries, and would select Palin as his running mate, the true conservatives would be fully behind them, IMO.
That combination is what America is starving for.
Both are strong conservatives.
Both are in favor of utilizing America’s resources to eliminate our dependency on foreign oil.
Both are for defending the nation’s borders.
Both embrace the 2nd Amendment.
Both have the desire to reduce the size of government, and the imposition of the draconian regulations businesses suffer under.
There is a long row to hoe until November 2012.
I am not endorsing Perry.
The careful consideration of our alternatives is essential.
The defeat of the Obama administration is crucial for the survival of the America we love.

Sounds like a plan AFVET.
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well my friend.
Give me a day or so to finalize some Christmas biz then we can hook up at the Village to engage. Regroup we must. Palin/Perry or Perry/Palin might just be doable.
There is much work ahead of us for 2012. Looking forward to it.
